In it's day the 660 was a tremendous machine for sure. This outfit here seemed to have some very good operators, enjoy watching them. Thanks for posting
These scrapers remind me of the old units we had when I joined the Army. Cat and Clark equipment made 4 wheel drive tractors and Euclid and Wapco made the scraper bowls. They were one hell of a machine, power to spare and could take a 6 inch cut without a pusher.
Great video as always plus nice drone work on this one also especially as you have not lost the machines sound . keep them coming please a new video from Socal one of my you tube highlights always look forward to them
wow I thought I’ll triple six were dead holy crap back in the early seventies yeah I forty built through Gallup New Mexico that’s what they ran triple sixes sweet
With all the double pushing that goes on in SoCal today with single power open bowl scrapers be it 3 or 2 axle jobbies why has no one engineered a D10N/R or T into a DD10 and joined them together as 1 like was done in the 60,s and beyond with the DD9G,s and H,s?
It's difficult for me to picture what all of the scraping, digging, and moving in these videos is for. Are they going to build stuff here? Or are they just getting soil? If they're building, I'd love to see a before and after of the areas they work on.
Yeah, i'd say the dozer is the easier part. Getting the depth right on a scraper by eye, from the cab, is not easy to do... at least for n00bs like me.
Hi, Ken. Great video with very good drone work. Thank you. Are those 660s running 60 series Detroits? A kew-ree-yuss mind would like to know. Just my 0.02. You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
Hi, S. Rawson. Thank you. It's great to see those old girls working. There were only 6 X 660Bs made it to DowNunda and I KNOW 2 of them are still working and I think another 2 are still in working condition but not doing much. There is also a running 666B still working around where I live but I can't get to it to get photos. Just my 0.02. Thanks again. You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
You can run any electronic engine(s) that meets Tier spec's, highway truck engines are okay. B-model 660s, 51, 57s do not require lots of modifications to mate up to the pump drives, just flywheel drive gear and correct bellhousing size. Cummins offered flywheel adapter for the KT series engine back in the late 70s to adapt to the Cat 9 speed torque converter transmission.
Brilliant drone work.
Absolutely fantastic video. The view from the drone puts the whole operation in perspective. Cool to see the 660s still working hauling dirt 👍

superb work with the drone!

It's not wapco it is wabco Westinghouse on a Le Tourneau maybe they use wapco in Mexico
Who made that song buttons and bowls was it Johnny cash

Insanely.............Cool Video !!!!!
Very nice footage with such a drone.
Great job
Love the jake brake!
Maybe retarder
This looks like that ACI job in Ventura, off the 126? I think ACI had those same 660s running in Laguna Niguel in 1986!
Great Video
great video
to drone happy a walk beside would be great
What is the Project for? What will the future site be?
Good on you; if your drone had a forced landing getting it back intact seems uncertain at best.
Why didn't you show us where they're dumping it?
Nice drone work love to watch these machines in action
wow I thought I’ll triple six were dead holy crap back in the early seventies yeah I forty built through Gallup New Mexico that’s what they ran triple sixes sweet
When you need to move a mountain you call Cat 😺🐈.
Think you for cool video

4:45 What a view!
So how much would a house site cost here once all done or are the sites and houses sold as a package by the developer
Gotta admit thw dozer and pan operators don't miss a beat, but boy that looks like it will be an expensive development.
cool video... but I want to see the other side ,,. how they level out all that dirt that's coming there way.. I know the pans do slot but what else?
what drone are you using? how are you recording sound?
Nice drone footage. Where is this site located approximately? Can you please include the areas in future video descriptions?
No twin engine push/pull pans available?
Hard to believe this level of time, labor and machinery would be profitable for residential housing.
Where is this at! ??
What drone do you use to make these wonderful videos?
It's difficult for me to picture what all of the scraping, digging, and moving in these videos is for. Are they going to build stuff here? Or are they just getting soil? If they're building, I'd love to see a before and after of the areas they work on.
What is this job site? What will it become ?
Lol, I'm one of the operators running a 660... (#187).
GOOD HANDS
where this happen. good video, thanks.

Blade gets abit close to the back tires when slewing in.
Tony Richardson that's me on the push cat. I've never popped one. That's me in the first push cat.
Thanks for that it is just there is a magnetic attraction between rubber and steel.
Houses can be built on hills...
excellent angle did you shoot this with a drone?
Those D10's know how to pack a bowl......
Scoop driver is a big part of that process too.
Yeah, i'd say the dozer is the easier part. Getting the depth right on a scraper by eye, from the cab, is not easy to do... at least for n00bs like me.
👍👍👍👍
MUITO BOM.
Some school teachers didn't want these push cat guys staying after school others preferred
Keep your hands out of the spokes in the steering wheel the 660 will break your wrist...
酷視頻,,喜歡!!!...
интересно, как они слаженно работают
Anyone know what all this work was done for?
Houses.
Hi, Ken.

Caterpillar rules the earth 🌍
Were running now
pretty destructive machine. leveled once a mountain/hill.
and made room for humans. excellent. your grandchildren might live here someday.
Surfer gals counting loads
I'm surprised that cal is letting this contractor use these 660b or did they repower these engines
diggermitch1 they are re powered
They have been repowered for many years now, if you hear the exhaust brake in the video that is the DD series 60 engine in one of the 660B.
can you run Detroit b series engines in 660 bs I thought you could only run updated cat engines in them or do you have to do a lot of modifacating
if the Ralph mitzels machine there repowers where done by Johnson and Quinn cat and his 651s

Elevation changer
Push cat guys ain't in hesition gear
Didn't have to grease
Unbelievable, its 2017 and they are still having open cabs
I believe the video was shot in Southern California, where the weather is generally very warm and dry.
Live
Would still take old iron over this new junk they make today took actual operators with talent not gps and im 35 y/o but im old school
The momentum
Those 60 s wouldn't spin on a dime they needed a good size turning radius
