Way to go Grant Hill! One of few NBA Jerseys I ever had. My mother work courteous hours of overtime for me to have your #33 back in 95. We still love you to this day!! Congrats again. Very inspiring speech 👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾🙏🏿✊🏾
I’ve been a Suns fan since 89-90 but when Grant Hill came into the league. I had to get that jersey. My dad worked construction and I was one of 3 boys. Not cheap. My dad being the best dad, he took us 3 to get what jersey we each wanted. I got the Grant Hill, my older brother got the Jason Kidd and my little brother got the Alonzo Mourning jerseys. However, not long after that I decided to go to the community pool and left my Jersey in the locker and it disappeared. That was tough knowing how hard my dad had worked to get me that and I was not responsible. In spite of that happening. I can remember that was on of my happiest days of my life.
Grant Hill: one of the biggest "what ifs" stories in the history of the NBA. The ecstatic "Grant Hill with the explosion!..." commentary is still vivid in my memory. I was glad that he was able to finish his career on his own terms. Thoroughly deserved induction to the HOF.
Probably one of the most respected player who ever graced the NBA... A class of his own...The sportsmanship he brings to the court was exceptional.Through many injuries he suffered still he climb it out to reach the top of the game,a virtouso with the ball, the nicest guy out there who inspired many to follow...Salute to you Mr.Hill...
Grant Hill is one of classiest and most elegant gentlemen to ever play the game of basketball. He made the game look good, not the other way around. Highly respected by his peers and there will never be another one like him. Could have been in the conversation as GOAT, if it wasn’t for the perpetual injuries. He overcame it with relentless energy and drive. The fact that he was able to come back over and over again is what saved his career and got him into the HOF. Most players would not have been able to come back that many times.
From a Bulls fan in the 80s/90s(til I found out what an asshole Krause was) you're right and dead on! Ewing wasn't a champion because of a couple guys we had 23/33 but otherwise he would've definitely won one or two....and we new we needed to him that's why we always respected his Knicks....ALWAYS
The NBA's greatest role model of all time. He makes being a good person seem REALLY cool. Grrrrrraaannnt Hilll. So happy for him. Well deserved. A true basketball sensation.
Grant Hill, my favourite small forward along with Dominique Wilkins, so glad to see you on that stage! I instantly saw there was something in this guy when I saw him play for the Pistons during the late 90s. He was so fast, athletic, skilled, could pass and get past people. And the dunks and moves around the rim... I would have given my ankle to him if I could. I was so sad to see how that ankle almost destroyed his career. Would have wanted to see him play healthy for the Magic with TMac and dominate the East but that sadly did not happen. My all time favourite Detroit Piston. So glad to see you on that stage and in HOF!
Those who don't know how great grant hill was He was lebron before lebron was even thinking of basketball After Jordan's second retirement He was supposed to be next in line
Thinking about Grant Hill and Tracy McGrady were on the same team gives me chills, their game, versatility, selflessness and the amazing talent. The kind of damage they could've done if healthy.
Mr. NICE GUY nailed that speech...gudluck into your retirement, this is 2022 and i knew u doing great with your personal life.,you always be my hero in basketball!
i loved this speech. They just kept bringing out chairs for all the guys he was grateful to...really cool. Next to Iverson, this is the speech I enjoyed the most cuz it looked not just well thought out but also sincere. Class act Grant.

I know. Nonetheless, his solid comeback after yrs of ailments when he easily could've quit and collected the $$, has earned major respect from SO many if us.
G Hill, class personified. If this man had a healthy ankle throughout his career you best believe he would be destined to be a top 10 all time player this guys talent was off the damn charts I've never seen such explosive crossover drives to the basket at a long 6 foot 8....dude was insane check his tapes.
What a class person! What a classic speech! As a 25 years Suns fan, I really think he is the best SF in Suns history, even there were Shawn Marion, Cedric Ceballos, and Michael Finley.
It's amazing that of all the great players to have played at Duke, Grant Hill is the only one in the HOF. He was my favorite player and the best ever to play at Duke.
@@allen6924 Surprised me as well. He mentions it in the speech. If you think about it who else had the NBA career to justify the Hall of Fame. All the other guy you'd think of didn't transition well in the NBA. He won't be the last but he's definitely the first.
I have been binging on all of these great HOF speeches and I must say they all were great and every player were true class acts that defined their greatness
Class personified, loved his game, even though I wasn’t a Duke fan, he was my favorite on that team. One of the greatest small forwards to have never won a championship. Well deserved, regardless of what the injuries robbed him of, he still finished with class on his own terms.
I was blessed to meet him during the 2015 NBA All Star Weekend in New York City and I specifically talked about the alley oop dunk during the 1991 National Championship Game. He admitted that he had bad hair but still loves watching the play. If he would have stayed healthy, he would have multiple championships and possibly broken the triple double record. But his defining moment was during his senior year when he led an untalented 1993-94 Duke Blue Devils to the title game and were possessions away from beating Arkansas. This was a player who changed the game and laid out the foundation of the point forward where guys like Lebron James and Ben Simmons are taking it to a new level.

I love watching this guy play in the 90s. MJ, Shaq, and Hill were the "unguardables" at that time. His between the legs-Crossover combo that leads to a spin move lay up or baseline dunk was unstoppable!
Great speech, Grant. And for those of you who are too young to know Grant's Dad, Calvin Hill, was a great and very disciplined running back with the Dsllas Cowboys back in the 70s. Just goes to show the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree.

I'll even go top 5
One of the true gentlemen/gems in NBA history. I adore that man.
Great speech, short, sweet, thanked everyone, it’s not always about you, about the others that got you there, grant hill is that example.
