Not only did JD sound great in the film, he looked awesome with Crudup in that gas station shack scene. The music in this movie is perfect and rings authentic. Cool to know they went right to tape.
Tom bukovac was recently talking about JD on his channel. I never heard of him. He was saying how awesome he was on the Wah. Had to check the music out for myself. And god damm. I can’t stop listening. Incredible, vintage, and someways very modern. Making his influences, his own. I don’t know if I’m describing him in the right way. But I’m completely hooked on his music. Inspiring to me, in many ways. Makes me want to really hunker down on my guitar playing.😎✌️
I stopped this video half way through and went to the movie. I was dismissing it until I heard the Great JD talking about it. I was totally wrong. Just got back. So glad I went. Thanks for sharing this Gents. Listened to Elvis Radio on Sirius on the way back. Going to have to find The 68 Comeback Show and watch this weekend.
It’s so easy to take for granted all the sounds great guitarist AREN’T letting happen. Masters of Muting. Total control of the guitar. It’s so much more than just playing the right notes.
one of the most Delicious interviews ever.. got my J.D. poster signed by J.D. over at Darryl's House a couple years ago right here in my office, still got the same afro there JD :) shout out guys can't wait to see the Elvis movie
I’m very happy for him, this is a major accomplishment and a more than deserved one. JD is one of the nicest and most talented musicians around so good for him! Keep it up, JD!
I just discovered this channel and have been binge watching the last few days. I don't know if I should practice more or just throw the guitar out the window.
That's funny, the last rig rundown I saw of his was with John Bolinger and JD was shaking his head at the fact that everyone and their mother were using Fender BF's.
I sincerely appreciate this one, don't know how I missed it, but that means I got to enjoy it today instead. JD is one of the deepest guitar cats out there, when it comes to geeking-out nerdishness and knowledge of music. The only cat I can think of who is close would be his friend Nik at"the riff" - another cat who goes DEEP into tonesville (and amazing guitarist too)........!
Great interview Zac!! Please ask JD about Patrick Sweeney . Patrick would make a great guest on the tru tone lounge. He’s a true unsung finger picking , road dog guitar hero. Amazing talented guy that more people need to know about.
Man the tone on that switch master was amazing. What was the signal path? Was that just straight in with grit or was there a touch of fuzz? Is it just all about the vintage P90s?
Great Zac! This Interview is a jewel; JD is one of my real heroes. My friend Sir Don Pedro made a heroes vid with his heroes: ruclips.net/video/TZv1e2VUevg/видео.html
@@TruetoneFX first time I saw JD on RUclips was footage from Robert's. I found out that he was using an RS tele which I thought was awesome. I'm in eastern Kentucky and work in Winchester where RS is located.
@@TruetoneFX Ahhhh, I have to look him up. JD was awesome, as always. Just a little taste of his playing a few pieces of the movie scores has me wanting to watch this ASAP. That old 3-P90 Gibson he was playing is awesome. The sounds he was getting from that beauty are incredible. JD makes it look so effortless. Great interview, sorry I didn't catch it sooner. Thanks
Just saw the movie if you haven't seen it don't bother. Only part I felt you was Rosetta Sharp. You got fourth line first column of 15 additional musicians. Stay real Hollywood still sucks. Love. Peace.
It's so great to see an interviewer who allows the guest to formulate complete answers instead of talking over them. Well done Zac.
Thank you

Glad to see success for JD on his terms. He could have sold out a long time ago but stayed true to himself.

I remember watching the 68 comeback show live. I was 8 years old.
This is my world of music, guitars, and friendships. Love the Shure Vocal Master speaker in the back :)
This is pure gold! JD is a treasure and Zac you're a masterful interviewer. Now I gotta watch the Ask Zac episode.
I don’t think Elvis would consider himself a broken man. Broken from what?

I'd love to see Chuck Prophet on this show. my favourite telecaster player

This is a well done interview , really enjoyed it . I caught JD with Tab in Texas last week and obviously dug it . Special player .

I really have grown to love JD great musican
What amazing tone and slide! Love it!
OMG is that a sure vocal master PA in the background?? I had one in my first band in the 70's!!
Second time I’ve watched this. What a great interview, Zac! JD is such a humble, down to earth dude…and a heck of a picker.

Great interview, Zac. Can't believe I'm just watching it.
You're the greatest JD, can't wait to see the movie and see you again when you make LA! Thanks Zack, your channel is ruling!!!

Absolutely wonderfully entertaining episode! JD is definitely our friend! Lol. Can't wait for the new disc!
Us too!
This is a real find...Great job JD and Zac…Kudos…! Sorry late to the party. Just getting caught up on RUclips.
Thanks for listening
Great background. JD Simo is a great tonechaser. Good to know.

Great interview. I covert some of Burton's licks to use with my keyboard using a pitchbend wheel. Keep a rockin'!
Rock on!
JD is great. Thanks for the interview.

Absolutely brilliant thank you 🙏
Too cool man! Very nice! So happy for J.D.!!!🤘
Me too!!
nice one, would like more interviews like this
I was J.D.’s first guitar teacher!
I've been resisting swapping my Tele pickups because I didn't know where to start. I still don't but down the rabbit hole I go.
How do you get that neck pickup to sound so full and bright? I've tried different pots and wireing, but it still sounds dull.

Into his 1965 Deluxe Reverb
@@TruetoneFX just strait in huh? Sounds killer.
ZAC CAN YOU GET A SHOW WITH THE BAND GA20 ??????
Rip Lisa Marie Presley
His look and demeanor actually reminds me of Tommy Tedesco.
Could his fuzz be noisy because germanium?
Nod to Reggie makes this good.
These boys burned some hippy lettuce before they started rollin…
Just some Topo Chico straight up.

Zac, did JD get rid of the RS?
I think he still has it.
