    It's been a while but we're going to cover all the parts of rotation to get you coiled properly as well as debunk the common misconceptions of how excessive rotation backfires (overrotation and not focusing your rotational energy into the ball.) Lastly we end with a great drill to internalize the feeling of rotation. This is only the 1st of a 3 part series so buckle up because the next two are coming soon. Look forward to your comments below. Thanks - Coach Steven

    Love how you explain everything, it makes so much sense. I learned more than I have in probably 10 years learning from amateur coaches who work for their $60/hr lol. Thank you 🙏

    Hi, it’s Charlie from London. You really are the best in your explanations, and it’s so doable and we can practice this at home, as we have so much time now. We can isolate from our club but not from our iPad, so now I got my plan for tomorrow!! Take care, stay safe, and SPREAD LOVE AND WISDOM, and not the virus!! Cheers, Charlie

  • @RSH137

    Wow, interesting. Very detailed. I had been thinking before that the hips should be leading in your rotation. Then shoulder , arm and finally hand. Maybe I need to watch it again, but I think you said that it all kind of goes together at the same time.

    • @15PointsOfTennis
      @15PointsOfTennis  4 года назад

      You’re correct, the hips do lead, but the kinetic transfer from ankle, knee, hip, shoulder, elbow, wrist is extremely short. Call it a “hit box” where the kinetic chain occurs but the longer extensions of the shoulder need to reach that “hit box” before the domino effect from ankle to hand occurs. It appears at the same time though. I do a deeper breakdown of this in my online program but hope that helps.

    love your videos and feel the same way as person who wrote comment below. For rotation, would you say you are engaging your core from beginning to end, with the endpoint being contact with ball? Ie, should you be feeling this in your abs?

    • @15PointsOfTennis
      @15PointsOfTennis  4 года назад

      Thanks for watching Kathy.. great question. I would say yes but the core works in different ways. I think it should feel like you’re throwing a medicine ball, but there your abs are used to create motion. When you plank for instance, there is no motion and your abs are holding still to stabilize. So even if you don’t turn like on a volley, you should still feel your core stabilizing your hand at contact. For most groundstrokes, you will turn first then stabilize. Hope that helps!

    Should we use an open stance on the forehand ?

  • @oweneoin

    Question, do the hips fire open before you swing the racket to initiate the swing or do the hips fire in sync at the same time with the racket so both the racket starts to swing at the same time as the hips rotate open? Thanks

    • @15PointsOfTennis
      @15PointsOfTennis  3 месяца назад

      In terms of flow, weight transfer leads the rotation which leads the arm. There are some different styles of swings, but generally at contact, the body should feel "still" as the arm comes around to finish. Each part of the energy in the "whip" should transfer to the next piece of the chain.
