Yesterday night, my boyfriend and I watched the full Eurovision 2003 (for him was the first time). This song was his favourite and he was shocked when he realised they finished 21st. They deserved muuuch more, it was ahead of its time. Regards from Spain ❤
Apparently this song made a big enough impression on 14-year-old me that it just randomly popped into my head while hanging up the curtains. I'm 33 now.
I was there in Riga that night, and everyone was astonished it didn't do far better. It's still a great song. Estonia always send really superb entries.
It was the wrong year. It would have done much better between 2009 and 2019. The years from 1999-2008 were the dark ages of Eurovision, when it almost became the Eurovision Trash Contest by 2008. When the juries came back in 2009 the quality got much better again with each year and the "funny" aka trash entries almost completely disappeared. Juries would have loved this song so much.
Still in my memory this is one of the three or four songs on top of Eurovision since started. I use to hear this song every week and I remember the perfect onstage of the group and the awesome performance.
I think you mean My Star BrainStorm represented Latvia in Eurovision 2000 as you probably know, and their song was My Star, but yes, they do have another song called Maybe, and I suppose that's what you're reffering too But yes, My Star is amazing
Still my favorite song to this day. I was in Tallinn last year and this song was always on my headphones. The Eurovision crowd wasn't ready for this indie type of music.
If anyone else has the same question as the first commenter (whom I can´t directly address) then googling would help. (voice) Vaiko Eplik & Eliit (guitar) Jaan Pehk, Orelipoiss, Köök... + Kõrsikud (maybe) (and is a poet it seems) (bass) Ivo Etti, Ewert and the Two Dragons (Basically they have disbanded (into Koer) but now, some seem to have sth to do with &-Eliit-part. In addition, they used to go by Claire´s Birthday before Ruffus.) There are probably things that could be added. :))
you thought you had it coming but now you really really just dont know it seems you make a deal far too big outta this you thought that youd done it jeah you thought that you had heard it all but the state of things is putting you down now just because you know they say it's just the eighties coming back jeah it feels just like the eighties coming back aw i know it's just the eighties coming eighties coming eighties coming eighties coming eighties coming back you said lets do it let's take it out and dance all night but those deep synthesizersounds freak you out now you wake up in the middle of the night in terror all you do is cry cold sweat a cup of tea no nothing seems to help you thru the night my god you know they say it's just the eighties coming back jeah it feels just like the eighties coming back aw i know it's just the eighties coming eighties coming eighties coming eighties coming eighties coming back yeah you thought you had it coming but now it looks like you didn't know this but everybody's wearing their hair the way you did 15 years ago you know they say it's just the eighties coming back
This was way ahead of its time.. It's obvious because it was all rock n roll winners in the upcoming years' contests. Of course, there was Sertab Erener in this particular year, so I guess these guys were at the wrong gig at the wrong time:)

One of the best songs ever in the Eurovision song contest and I mean it.
I absolutely agree! This song is such an underrated masterpiece!
im from estonia and this Vaiko Eplik guy is still doing good music.
I watched the full 2003 eurovision recently and couldn't believe this scored so low. Underrated but maybe it was ahead of its time.
Same here! I completely agree. It is such a good 90's style britpop song. I love it.
There's a sniff of The Feeling about it I think, about ten years early. ruclips.net/video/9ztIpA2gQMo/видео.html
yeah me too.. i like this song, too bad it's not on spotify
Definitely was ahead of time
Really under rated. Really great song. 17 years later and I still remember this song.
Apparently this song made a big enough impression on 14-year-old me that it just randomly popped into my head while hanging up the curtains. I'm 33 now.
such a fresh entry actually, can't help but enjoy every second of it
Still emotional 20 years later, my dad still talks about it to this day

@schnipp08 Spot on.
@@Schnipp08 great take, babes. people hate the juries but they’re really the reason why song quality has been increasing dramatically every year.
This is such a good 90's style britpop song. I love it. It's a shame this song only reached the 21st place.
Still in my memory this is one of the three or four songs on top of Eurovision since started. I use to hear this song every week and I remember the perfect onstage of the group and the awesome performance.
In my top 20 Eurovision songs of all time. Seriously.
You are not alone with that!
2020 and I still love that song ! it doesn't age :)
Agree
One of the best eurovision songs ever + latvia brainstorm’s “maybe”. Eurovision didn’t deserve them.
You mean Brainstorm's "My Star" ? :)
I think you mean My Star
BrainStorm represented Latvia in Eurovision 2000 as you probably know, and their song was My Star, but yes, they do have another song called Maybe, and I suppose that's what you're reffering too
But yes, My Star is amazing
Parim Eesti lugu, mis Eurovisioonil olnud.
Still my favorite song to this day. I was in Tallinn last year and this song was always on my headphones.

I wished I could hear more songs like this in the eighties. Great Vaiko Eplik.
Sounds more like 90s Britpop for me. That's no hate, I really love this song.
I can't believe I still remember these lyrics
Loved this song.
This is my favourite from the 2003 contest by miles! :D

Well, if Vaiko was from... I don't know Doncaster not Rapla he'd be famous I think.
you thought you had it coming
but now you really really just dont know
it seems you make a deal far too big outta this
you thought that youd done it
jeah you thought that you had heard it all
but the state of things is putting you down now just because
you know they say it's just the eighties coming back
jeah it feels just like the eighties coming back
aw i know it's just the eighties coming
eighties coming eighties coming
eighties coming eighties coming back
you said lets do it
let's take it out and dance all night
but those deep synthesizersounds freak you out
now you wake up in the middle of the night
in terror all you do is cry
cold sweat a cup of tea no nothing seems to help you
thru the night
my god
you know they say it's just the eighties coming back
jeah it feels just like the eighties coming back
aw i know it's just the eighties coming
eighties coming eighties coming
eighties coming eighties coming back
yeah you thought you had it coming but now it looks like you didn't know this
but everybody's wearing their hair the way you did

you know they say it's just the eighties coming back
He is a brilliant song writer. How does he do it?
This was way ahead of its time.. It's obvious because it was all rock n roll winners in the upcoming years' contests. Of course, there was Sertab Erener in this particular year, so I guess these guys were at the wrong gig at the wrong time:)
