The advertisement "SEE ROCK CITY" is a staple in the south around Lookout Mountain. It has been for many decades painted on barn tops for a hundred miles. I love the factoid that a man from Tennessee once climbed Mount Everest, and when he reached the summit he left a small red topped barn there that said "SEE ROCK CITY". Great video.
@@johnthomas2485 Yep, guy named Clark Byers painted over 900 barns in 19 states with the "See Rock City" logo. Lookout Mountain is really about 75 miles long.
One year when I was in high school in TN in the sixties, our yearbook had an aerial photo of the school which had one prominent building with a white roof. Everyone would write "See Rock City and Ruby Falls" on that rooftop photo in the yearbook.
Many people don't realize just how much natural beauty the southeastern United States has to offer, and it brings me joy to see you having the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate some of it. I've lived within an hour of where you visited all of my life and it's an amazing area. If you ever make it back to this area, Cathedral Caverns in Alabama, Stone Mountain in Georgia and even the United States Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL are wonderful places to visit.
lol my sister and brother-in-law took my oldest to rock city when she was around 3. When the got back my dad asked her what she saw at Rock City…. She looked at him like he was crazy and said “Rocks pap”.
When our children were little 6 and 8 we took them to Ruby Falls. I am 5'11" and when we got off of the elevator, I felt a wave of claustrophobia, but my wife and kids did not have any problems! Beautiful place!
Chattanooga is a great place to spend a weekend. It’s a small city but it’s packed full of things to do. The Tennessee Aquarium, Rock City, Ruby Falls, Lookout Mountain Battlefield, Incline Railway, Chattanooga Choo Choo, any several really good places to eat. I live in Nashville and used to have weekends in Chattanooga all the time.❤️🐝🤗
Hello Marie! I'm actually not even a 20 mins drive from Rock City and Ruby Falls! It's nice to see someone from outside the US come see the amazing scenery and wonderful tourists destinations of Northwest Georgia
I have been to Georgia only once. My friend had me eat a fresh Vidalia onion sandwich: sliced white bread, mayonnaise, salt, pepper and a slab of sweet onion. It was surprisingly good. Edit: Good video, Marie!
I remember my dad stopping the car there on our way back to Atlanta from Florida and there was a gator just sunning himself in the parking lot. Very cool place.
Welcome to my state and I hope you had a good time. I always find it funny when people from different countries or flat land states visit and are mesmerized by the area. Born and raised here your use to seeing the mountains, caves etc so it's not a big thing to us. Thanks for visiting Georgia. 🏈GO DAWGS🏈
Marie, that was a truly beautiful video. Both locations were spectacular. And you picked a perfect I enjoy your videos you pick some nice spots to see .
Another great Video again! Beautiful imagery and nice job showing everything so well! I've traveled past those places many times for my job and have seen the signs for it but never stopped there and always wondered what it was exactly. I'm glad you made this video and I'm going to make a point of going there to see it all in person now!
Just a couple hours in Georgia? I've never been myself, but even Georgia deserves more than a couple hours visit! When you ever make it to Texas, please plan for at least a week LOL!
Marie, I’m one of the first comment how about that? It looks like you’re having a great time and enjoying the time with your friend! You get to go some places that a lot of us have never gone because we don’t have the time or have family and things like that or work, but we get to live vicariously through you! I so much enjoy your videos. Thank you very much. Kerry.
Bonjour Marie, welcome to Georgia, known as the Peach State. I hope you get to try one. Beautiful footage as always Lookout Mountain (Rock City) was the site of a major battle in the Civil War. Looking forward to more GA videos. 🇺🇲🇨🇵
Georgian here. Glad you enjoyed our state. Our mountains are the oldest on Earth and date from Pangea. Of course you probably saw how very HOT things are here. We did not become very populated until the invention of Air Conditioning. Today one would probably not alter the rocks so much as they were to make these two places (carving them and making paths) but today most would leave them in their natural state. It is very calming to relax in the mountains of the Appalachians. Much of this land was preserved by belonging to natives until the US drove them out in the trail of tears. Still somewhat sparsely populated today. You should consider visiting Savannah as well.
You were so close to where I live! My husband is from England and Rock City is one of the first places I took him. We took the railcar ( is that what it’s called ?? lol) that goes up the side of the mountain and then walked around. Special place. Glad you enjoyed it. Lots of natural waterfalls throughout Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, Alabama… beautiful all around.❤
I really hope you had a wonderful trip to South ❤ I was blessed to have been born and raised in the tri-state area of Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama... hopefully everyone was kind to you 😊

So cool to see you back exploring the us Georgia is my favorite state in the us even though I don’t live there anymore you can see small town big city’s mountains to beaches and everything in between
So glad you made it up Lookout Mountain! It’s amazing, especially when the weather cooperates. Next time you go to the Chattanooga area you need to ride the TN Valley Railroad, I think you’d get a kick out of it!
This video was so amazing. Thank you for sharing. I am glad that you can live your dreams as you are. Be safe and have fun. Life is a dream with many more adventures to come.
Oh cool. I’m so happy you were able to visit my place of birth. Georgia really is a great state. I live on the coast of Georgia on Tybee island. Been to all of those places in your video many times. So glad you enjoyed your experience here. Great video. Thanks a lot. 😂
I live in the Chattanooga area, and I have been to Rock City many times. Also, my brother works part-time as a tour guide at Ruby Falls. They are both great attractions for our area. I'm glad you enjoyed them!
Rock City during Christmas is amazing. You should go to Pointe Park and learn the history of the battle above the clouds. As a Boy Scout we walked the blue beaver trail to the top of Lookout.
Marie, I really loved your video. Those were two spectacular views and sights to see. You certainly picked a beautiful day to go filming. I certainly love watching your exploration videos. They are always pleasant to watch, and you put me in a pleasant State of mind. Thank you for sharing your adventures, and keep up the good work.😊
I would never fit through that narrow gap. I drove a motorhome through Georgia a long time ago. I am glad that you have been able to see so many attractions in North America. This is an amazing continent. From subtropical to ice cap, we have a lot of variety.
That was amazing! If I want to put together an itinerary to travel through the states, I just have to make a list from your videos because you literally find all the gems!
Well the video turned out fantastic Marie! Those were some spectacular views 😁. Keep those awesome videos coming. Love to see this great big country through your eyes!
Savannah one of my favorite places to visit…. Athens one of my favorite places for music….the big house in Macon…. Where I wish I could have lived in the 70’s
I grew up near Chattanooga and haven't been to rock city and ruby falls since I was a child. Looks a bit different than when i was small, but still very neat!
I've never even heard of Rock City, absolutely beautiful. Marie if you're still in the south looking for somewhere new to see, you MUST go to Mammoth Cave. It is in south-central Kentucky, not too far at all from your adventures in Tennessee. It's the largest cave system in the world, it's an incredible experience!
I've been by there hundreds of times going to my grandparents' house on Signal Mountain, but I've never gone to Rock City or Ruby Falls. A lot of my family and friends have.
That 7 states lookout I guess beats the heck out of the Four Corners, but I guess at least in the Four Corners you can stand in all four states, not just see them.
All you needed to add was a trip to the Chattanooga Aquarium and you would've completed an elementary school field trip I had when I was 9 or 10 years old. Good times. I think I'd appreciate the views more as an adult. I loved the caves the most then.
Fun Trivia: Interstate 24 in Georgia is the only section of the Interstate Highway System that does not change its mile markers when it enters another state. From Chattanooga, through its brief time in Georgia, until it gets to Kentucky near Fort Campbell, I-24 keeps its Tennessee mile markers. This is probably just easier for people to tell emergency services where they are, if they need to, since the interstate is not in Georgia very long.
Love Lookout Mountain and Ruby Falls! Such a great place! Being from East Tennessee, it's about a 4-hour drive there for a fun vacation, versus driving 8-9 hours to the East Coast and spending double the amount of money to vacation at the beach!
Wow! You visited my home! I’m a Lookout Mountain native. I’m so glad you enjoyed your trip. There is a spot south of the city of Lookout on Scenic highway that is a hang glider place. People jump off the mountain and hang glide to Trenton in the valley. You can watch them jump.
GA has a lot to offer. Mountains in the north, flat plains in the southwest, lakes and rivers all over. great beaches on the coast and swamps in the southeast. Something for everyone except dessert we don't have that but you can go to one of the biggest airports in the world and fly to Vegas if you want dessert.
I watched you for a while. Glad you made it here. If you get to come again, I recommend Savannah and Tybee Island, maybe Dahlonnaga, or Helen. Callaway gardens. A few other smaller towns.
In my career driving a truck, I’ve driven over Lookout Mt more times than I can even count. 😂 I don’t get down that way anymore, but I remember it…especially getting snowed in at the top on my way to Atlanta in the 2011 Snowmageddon.
I remember See Rock City on barns about as much as the Meramec Caverns. Marie, you missed the Caverns thing on your St. Louis visit. It's too bad, but you can only do so much. Great history in Chattanooga. They say you can see seven states, but can you? I don't know. Nice hook, though. Hotel Chattanooga Choo Choo was amazingly different when I went years ago. Beautiful scenery, Marie. That's another curly W
Georgia is a beautiful state. I hope you make it down to Savannah. I book an Airbnb on lookout mountain and the views are stunning, especially when the hang gliders are taking off from next door.
lol…I’ve lived in Georgia for 10 years and didn’t know about these places. Awesome, we need somewhere to go. Hit these up in Sept/Oct when it cools off a little.
I passed Rock City many times in the past, but I don't remember ever going to Ruby Falls. There is another cave system in Kentucky called Mammoth Cave National Park. This is the largest cave system in the world ig your interested in something like that.
I've been to both, you should go to Cumberland Caverns in Warren County, Tennessee, Hugh Cave also a cave in Pelham, Franklin County, Tennessee that has live music.
Just another awesome video from my favorite french import.... Those caves were so cool with the waterfall and all those formations, but that trail through the rocks was something else. What a great place for a day trip ... or as the Beatle would say, Daytripper. I really enjoy your channel Marie, stay safe and as always, stay you.
My neck of the woods! Happy you enjoyed! I've lived in the area all my life and have never been to Ruby Falls. It's been years since I went to Rock City. The swinging bridge TERRIFIED me, but I had to cross it to get to the rest of the tour. Of course, there were some bratty kids who were shaking it, trying to make it really swing.

Not just around the area of Chattanooga. The They paid farmers all over to pain "See Rock City" on barns. I'm originally from Indiana and we saw them

In my career driving a truck, I’ve driven over Lookout Mt more times than I can even count. 😂 I don’t get down that way anymore, but I remember it…especially getting snowed in at the top on my way to Atlanta in the 2011 Snowmageddon.
Naaaaaaaawwwww! It doesn’t snow in Georgia!
That's really Beautiful. You making me want to visit lol ❤
Fun times!
So glad you enjoyed out area. Wiah I had known, I would have loved meeting you. Keep up the content
Glad you liked our little hole in the ground. There's a haunted house in that cave in October.
lol…I’ve lived in Georgia for 10 years and didn’t know about these places.
Enjoyed The Video,But I Was Hoping You Would Have Taken The ‘Incline Railway’ As Well.
Hopefully while in Georgia you get a chance to go spend a day or two in Savannah Georgia! You'll love it.
Check out Rock City at Christmas time! Its even more magical!😍🎄
