And all of those old trinkets at the Litchfield Museum are a hot commodity here in the antique trade market. Everyone wants to get a piece of historic USA, in our own country. There are TV programs here dedicated to guys and gals driving all over the states with tips on where to find garages and storehouses loaded with old dusty antiques that they rummage through and make offers to owners. The stuff they find sometimes is amazing.

So glad you got some more stampage in your book. Springfield has my favorite presidential museum. I can't say there aren't any better because I've haven't done them all. From and back to St. Louis makes for a long day. I noticed your Mickey T shirt. Walt was born in Chicago. His family spent years in Marceline and then Kansas City. Back to Chi town and perhaps some WWI activities in France with the Red Cross and back to KC where he met Mickey. The point is Marceline is about the size of Hermann, and there is a museum and childhood home. KC and Chicago probably have places too. I don't know. Anyway, I had some college friends from Marceline, and we never talked about Mickey and Walt. That's another curly W.

Marie, thank you for visiting Abraham Lincoln's home and grave in Springfield. He has always been my hero. But more than that, I always find it interesting that when you go to the place where someone was born, or grew up, or lived, or is buried, it reminds you that this person was real, and was once alive. They are not just someone in a book. It brings you closer to them.

I have to thank you, Marie for as you say 'visiting the real America'. On a business trip to Los Angeles, I managed to have breakfast with a group of German tourists who told me they were on a trip to 'see America'. I asked what was on their itinerary. They said their tour included stops in New York City, Los Angeles and Las Vegas before flying back to Germany. I had to tell them that they were not 'seeing America'. It takes time away from the big cities and spending time in the heartland to 'see the real America'. Thank you for taking the time to see the 'real America'.

Bonjour Marie! Always love watching your videos. Culver's burgers are fresh, handmade, and very good. Their crinkle cut fries are kinda bland (Arby's has better IMO,) and their most famous thing is their Cheese Curds. Did you get to try those? A few things... Lincoln the second L isn't pronounced, typically it's pronounced as Linkohn or Linkon. Pieces is typically pronounced Pee Says. Route is usually pronounced Root like Rootbeer or Boot, with the long O like boo boo. Glad you got to experience some of the Midwest, hope to see you make a trip to Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis, Indianapolis, and Cincinnati at some point! Bone journee! ~Be Blessed

I lived in Springfield for years, now in St Louis. I've driven that road hundreds of times, fun to see it through your experience!

Love your reaction to our country! But I love your country! I cry when I have to come home from France for many reasons. Dippin Dots was invented just down the road from our house in Curt Jones' garage. Glad you got to see some of the middle of the USA!

"Real America" is both rural and city.
