    Is it best to start with dry rock over live rock?

    I have my gsp on the back wall, just run a blade under the gsp to get it off the plug and super glue that to the back 👌🏻

    Hi! I am thinking of buying that same aquarium, but what really worries me is the noise, because I am going to have it in my bedroom, does the skimmer or the movement pump make a lot of noise? Does the light have a separate cable to plug in a light timer?

    I put that same pump head and it's way to strong how were you able to not move the sand with that pump like everything goes crazy and it's a 3 watt

    I just started cycle my fluval Evo .....I know it's going to take a bit ... But when should I do a water change??? Or wait until cycle is over

      No need to water change early. You are using quick start bacteria so you don't need to wait as long. I would still recommend putting fish food in each day and checking ammonia levels. Ensure they are zero. With a brand new tank, you can wait a few weeks before your first water change.

    A lot of people have glued their gsp on the back wall and it did well. You can look at Corey Willard youtube channel, he had this tank for about a year and he did that.

    What are your thoughts on the wave maker you have in the tank ? Too much flow ?

    • @TheFishTankGuy
      @TheFishTankGuy  3 года назад

      I love it. Not too much flow at all. As long as you have a decent path to direct the flow, it shouldn't blast any of your corals too much and my fish seem fine with it as well!

    Hi there. I am a beginner saltwater keeper and have just pulled the trigger to buy my very 1st saltwater tank. It is the red sea reefer nano. 21gal display, 7 gallon sump. I am intending to keep 2 clowns. Do I really have to get a pound for each gallon of water? and would it be a pound for each gallon in the display or total volume?

      No you don’t need to do that you can instead use a good quality filter media to take up the work for some of it. There’s room in the filter chamber to add it.

    Aptasia issues already? Damn man that sucks. Maybe dip that Monti and you'll be fine

    I would not have added any of that livestock to a tank that size. Gsp and pulsing Xenia are invasive and will take up the whole tank. Monti is too big and will over shadow things. Damsels are very aggressive that tank is too small and they certainly should not go in first as anything you try to put in afterwards will be attacked.

      Thanks for the input! You are right about the damsels...the black and white damsel was extremely aggressive and was removed and put into another tank. Now I have a Pajama Cardinal and a Striped Dottyback. They get along really well. As for the GSP/Xenia/Monti...I ended up taking the Xenia out (it didn't like the tank), and so far the GSP has been growing slowly. Same with the Monti. Good thing about the Monti is that I can easily snap off some frags if it starts getting too big :)

      @@TheFishTankGuy yes, humbug damsels are very very aggressive. Xenia can be temperamental, it’s either rampant or dying mine grows like mad then dies back. Monty is easy to frag I’m surprised there is enough flow for it . How do you find maintaining your stability in a tank this size? I think some nice zoas and recordia mushrooms would brighten up the tank and don’t need a great deal of light.

      You caught me when I was on my Studio page so good timing! I'm finding that this is currently my best tank and easiest to maintain. I had a scare when some palys let loose some palytoxin, but everything is under control. If you look on my channel, there is an April update that shows a little more color added to the tank :)
