Thanks for all your amazing content. I recently did the tail light fix thanks to your videos, and today I finally learned what the off button is for! :D
Not trying to be nitpicky, more so trying to see if my car is different… on the topic of the HVAC, my “off” button controls the thermostat, not simply the AC compressor. Meaning, if it’s “off” the HEAT doesn’t work either. It just blows air according to the fan speed selection knob only. So essentially by selecting the “off” button, the middle temperature knob is ignored. If it is “on,” then the middle temperature knob determines whether or not the heat or the AC will kick on, which ever is needed to get to the selected temperature. Again, that seems to be how it works in my car… In which case, the “off” button really means “temperature / thermostat off.” Maybe I’m remembering all that incorrectly as I rarely need to run the heat living in Florida… but I’m next to positive that’s how mine works. And honestly, I think it’s not all that unintuitive if that’s the case.
I've never heard of Doug DeMuro before, but his hysterical manner of speech and presentation really puts me off. Dan and Josh's explanations and presentations are logical, understandable, delivered in a normal voice and just very well done, without any hysterics at all. Doug may or may not have some points to make, but I hope not to hear his voice ever again. Life is too short for me to have to listen to that.
Dan , have you done an expose on the differences between the two types of conversions and is one better than the other mechanically? (I understand the newer one may be less expensive than the EAG?
Dan - awesome video. Not sure if you know the answer to this. Regarding the OEM gated stick housing cap horse …. Do you know if any of the OEM gated stick housing caps came from the factory with gear shift pattern instead of the horse???
Yes, if you chose a carbon fiber gear shift knob without the gear shift pattern, you would get the gate with the shift pattern in a place of the horse. Both were also available from Ferrari as an option to buy and install.
Sorry, not the ball, but gated plate that usually has the horse. Instead of the horse, wondering if any OEM plates have the gated pattern engraved. Like with this F430 spider on Bringatrailer. Photo 57/116 you can see it.
Re: A/C OFF button, the funny thing is, on the 360 it says STOP instead of OFF, which is even more confusing, even possibly alarming, so it seems like someone pointed that out to Ferrari and they said “no problem, we’ll fix that” and changed STOP to OFF . Anything else would be like admitting to making a mistake which is not permissible at Ferrari.
Dan, Doug's associate Kennen recently did a video about an F430 on Cars & Bids with a manual conversion. He also said it was a transmission swap. I commented on that. BTW, I see Meg's Mini with the hood up. Maintenance time?
Dan, I apologize if I've missed it, but how many manual conversion kits are out there? Cambio Manuale and EAG, others? Do they both require defeating the E-diff and what exactly is that? How does defeating E-diff affect the car? On the conversion kits, for what cars are they available that your shop is working with, 430, 599, what else? Thanks, I really enjoy your channel, and hope to come by and visit you guys if only to say hello and pet Moses. Take care
There's 3 plus OEM that I'm aware of. We only use Cambio Manuale now. The e-diff delete is optional. Deleting the e-diff makes the diff default to a limited slip differential. It's the only way to completely remove the F1 system.
weird Doug got those few things wrong because he always seemed to make a big deal about "all the features and quirks" about the cars he was showing... he should have consulted you guys 1st
Pretty sure the "off" button on my 2009 will turn off both heat and AC as the entire climate control is off, but you can still manually operate the fan and airflow.
Didn't doug sell his car auction site recently for hundreds of millions? Go look at how many auctions end on BAT every hour, multiply by $5K (now $7500), and realize that site prints money. I'm amazed that they had the balls to raise that $5K cap by 50%.

I think if you haven't driven them, you won't really get it. Once you drive one, you get it. The OEM's are just so expensive now, it makes more sense to have a converted car if you plan on actually putting a lot of miles on it.
