The back ground singers were with him for almost 30 years. They were devoted to him and visa-versa. They really knew what George wanted from them. They were all like a fine tuned machine.
Omg, every time I hear George live, it’s like hearing him for the first time. I am just as trilled, captivated and impressed. Oh, how I love this beautiful mega talented man.
Oh George, you beautiful man, you. 💙🥹I absolutely love star people mtv unplugged, it’s such a tune! I remember hearing it when I was a teen and loving it even then. ❤
He's my idol. I miss him terribly. I still have trouble watching his clips because tears come when I see him. He deserves his place with God and may he rest in peace
The Jesus To A Child performance was indeed a playback. He was lip-syncing. But because GM decided to perform in the European MTV Awards on a short notice.
George’s voice is/was like no other he was just the best! George would have sung all live and not lip sync he wouldn’t have accepted that. The only time was when he appeared on top of the pops with his group wham! So would be astonished if he did lip sync. ❤miss, miss him!! 😢
This was a fun reaction. George Michael takes you away to another world when he sings. And yes, the background singers are amazing! Thank you for posting! ✌🏻❤️✌🏻
It's taken me 8 days to muster up the courage to watch this, because I always get so darn emotional watching George live performances 😢. But I figured today is Valentine's day and who better to spend it with than George ♥. I had actually never seen that performance of Outside before, so thank for so much for that one 🥰. Love how funky it is 😁. He was unbelievable in every way possible and forever loved ♥
From what I remember at the time, I don’t think George was lip-syncing to JTAC. He opened the award show with Freedom’90 and that was sung live. He did lip-sync in 97 when singing Star People at MTV Europe Awards. In that they used the audio from the unplugged which was recorded just a few weeks before.
LOVE George! Saw him in concert 3 times; first time I was in ninth grade for the Faith tour in 88 or 89. (Yes I am old LOL) Last was 25 tour which I flew to Minnesota from Colorado. My friend bought the tickets & told me to just get there. To my surprise she got 8 row tickets! I almost cried I was so happy! Thank you for watching Him; to me he will always be the best singer!
You know how to make me smile😘 Anything by this amazing man makes me happy. I love him so much❤️Thanks for making a bad day of nothing seemly going right turn to a wonderful day. 😘So happy he found love in his life 🌹
Honestly, I'm amazed he got through that first public performance of Jesus To a Child without crying, lip synching or not. I didn't even live the song like he did and it's hard for me not to cry.
Beautiful George. So, so very sadly missed. This is my all time favorite song from him. This performance is just so beautiful. Wiki says that this was the first time unveiling this song and it was live. Also all the royalties from this song were donated to a children's charity. 💞
A less talented singer than George could have been overwhelmed by such amazing backing singers, but they compliment each other perfectly. Knowing the back story to Jesus To A Child makes it ones of the saddest songs I've ever heard. George was such an accomplished performer that the production around him could be really huge and it just showcased his skill more. The Parkinson show had a pretty middle aged, middle class audience but the UK public loved George so he could sing Outside and be adored for it.
Also, maybe you could do an episode of him covering other artists? Obviously the Queen/Freddie tribute is one but I also know he did an amazing version of Stevie Wonder's Love Is In Need Of Love Today...and there are some episodes of Showcase At The Apollo where I think he covered Smoky Robinson.
Another excellent selection! :) Any of his live performances is special but I'd like to recommend "Calling you", "Tonight" and "Careless whisper" at Rock in Rio.
That was the debut of that song, it was introduced on that show! The record company immediately released the song and he finished the rest of the album in the next several months. He released an EP with the instrumental version of Older and a couple more songs on it to bridge that gap between when the album was released in May of 1996.
Hi Bryson I can't believe I missed it again I've watched every night except the last week but finally we have George he obviously had to tone down Outside cos it's a family show, I love Star people he sang that at an awards show he came on stage in a mirrored car first dancers came out then George singing and dancing it was brilliant as for Jesus to a child you could be correct I'm not sure but I have seen him sing that live and it sounds the same like you said it doesn't take away his performance or his voice and I'll never forget your reaction to out side it was so hilarious to watch you, thank you I love anything George sings he is just wonderful I keep voting for him I hope he makes it into the hall of fame it's well deserved looks like it's between him and Cyndi Lauper but I don't know much about her fingers and toes crossed any way thankyou Bryson 😊💜
I think "Star People" is partly about Madonna. George says "maybe your daddy didn't love you enough, girl".. and he also says "do you have a little tale to tell?". The first line of Madonna's "Live To Tell" is "I have a tale to tell".
That performance of "Jesus to a child" is the first public one of the song. I don't mind his lipsyncing, maybe he was opposed to it but at the same time it was better this way as the moment was surely too emotional. As far as I know he wrote the song after a long writer's block brought on by the loss of Anselmo, the love of his life. The whole "Older" album was dedicated to him but I'm sure you already know that.
I always enjoy when you post a video and especially when it's some more George Michael! I was at the Earls Court concert shown here and it was a great experience. Sadly that arena building has since been demolished, but we still have the memories and videos of some amazing concerts and events held there over the decades.
I enjoyed this very much. Since ive seen your reqction video of One more time, i wanted to see your reaction to Jessus to a child. Its my favorite song of all time. Thank you
Does anyone know when lipsynching became the word for miming? Much prefer the latter word for it😄 If you do more of George's live performances I'd love for you to do George's version of Brother can you spare a dime from the Net Aid concert, his vocal was sublime
George said an interview that Spinning The Wheel was about his frustrations with his partner Anselmo who would often party at night with other men. He was concerned he would get HIV and he would get infected as well.
I am just guessing here, but I think JESUS TO A CHILD was live. If not, it was really well done, maybe a "live" prerecording that was used? However, the song is just so beautiful, especially the lyrics 😢

He's nominated for the 2023 Rock N Roll Hall of Fame...
Thanks… I didn’t know this… I just voted for him…. He’s in second place in the fan vote behind Cyndi Lauper.
Omg, every time I hear George live, it’s like hearing him for the first time. I am just as trilled, captivated and impressed. Oh, how I love this beautiful mega talented man.
Oh how I miss George 😢 what a beautiful performer, songwriter and human he was. His live performances always had such depth and emotion.💔
Jesus to a child was live… and beautiful
Oh George, you beautiful man, you. 💙🥹I absolutely love star people mtv unplugged, it’s such a tune! I remember hearing it when I was a teen and loving it even then. ❤
The whole Older album is a masterpiece. His best album hands down
George was genius!
I love the outside version here than the original. But its George what can we say. His live version is always better than recording. ❤ RIP George.
He's my idol. I miss him terribly. I still have trouble watching his clips because tears come when I see him. He deserves his place with God and may he rest in peace
His voice is better than bloodpreassure medication
True 😂
What an absolute treasure this man was 💔
He was not lip syncing, the fact that you thought he was just proves how good a live singer he was.
The Jesus To A Child performance was indeed a playback. He was lip-syncing. But because GM decided to perform in the European MTV Awards on a short notice.
People can say alot about George Michael, but lawd geezus that man could sing both slow ballads and bring the funk! 🕺👯♀💃
George’s voice is/was like no other he was just the best! George would have sung all live and not lip sync he wouldn’t have accepted that. The only time was when he appeared on top of the pops with his group wham! So would be astonished if he did lip sync. ❤miss, miss him!! 😢

Another live performance of George Michael I can highly recommend. ClanWannec: "George Michael - Killer (Papa was a Rollin Stone)".

Did you notice the back ground singers, were the same as the MTV unplugged? I think performances were 15 years apart. They were still together.
That’s awesome!
That was a therapy session camouflaged as a song😅.
Why do we always lose the very best of them to soon. Irreplaceable R. I. P. Michael .
If I could only listen to one male voice for the rest of my life it'd have to be George (female would be Kate)

Imagine Older was nr 1 all over Europe but the US reviews said it was sad and depressing . Insane.
One of his best live performances is My Mother Had a Brother.
Perfection. This folks is real singing and real music, no autotune here. Quality music. George's voice is incredible, superb. RIP George❤️

Jesus to a Child is my favorite Goerge Michael song. His vocals are flawless . It is so emotional that I cry every time he sings it.
This was the song for love of his life he was never the same
Spinning the wheel - has always been my jam🔥🔥 you have to see the official video .Stylish , vintage and charismatic.

J’ai eu la chair de poule pendant toute sa prestation de Jesus to a child
Cette chanson est tellement envoûtante et sa voix ! 💎

Very sad, but he is lip-synching - it's identical to the album version. Was/is very common for award shows.

I plan to 😊
the video of Spinning the wheel is incomplete. You missed the best part, the transition to the remix version.
