  • Haresh goes to lunch with members of his own community - the Indians. He meets a man who went viral over a racist incident, an artist who is exhibiting on the moon, and the owner of one of Singapore’s most beloved food brands.
Haresh’s first lunch buddy is Dave Parkash, who went viral when a polytechnic lecturer accosted him and his girlfriend over their interracial relationship. Dave reveals what happened the day of the incident, and how his life has changed since.
Haresh then grabs a bite with Lakshmi Mohanbabu, an artist whose work will be displayed on the moon! Over traditional Kerala cuisine, they chat about her experience growing up in Afghanistan and her life as a new citizen in Singapore.
Finally, Abdul Malik Hassan, the owner of Crave Nasi Lemak, shares a meal of chapati with Haresh. Abdul Malik talks about his interracial marriage, and how food unites Singaporeans.

Lakshmi's story about living in Afghanistan was surreal to hear. I'd read before about how bombings was commonplace but to hear from her that people would resume some normal activities about their daily lives through the chaos was quite something. Thanks for doing these interviews, Haresh and team.

Quite astonished to find out so much more about Crave. Especially so since I literally just ate the Selera Rasa Nasi Lemak this morning, cooked by Dr Abdul himself as it were. (Note: I'm certain of this because my sister said, "oh the super nice young man is there today".) I really like his line of thinking and I'm glad I got to know more about the dish and its origins. Quite frankly, the OG Adam Road Nasi Lemak is probably one of the best, if not the best in Singapore.
I'm a little bit disheartened by the words of Ms Mohanbabu that Indians are on the lower end of the race tier. Hopefully there won't be such a thing in the future.
All in all, interesting video. I'm really quite enjoying this series and kinda glad that more of these videos are being made these days in Singapore.

Hey man, thanks for sharing, i realised that its about really the skin color, people in general do not want to be accosiated with someone with a darker tone. I've seen how Indians with lighter tone are treated. FYI i'm a consultant and noticed the lighter skin people regardless of race have something against the darker under tones. Sorry that we are born this way, but its sad that whatever we do we need to double up. If we open up, its called as a complain, if we don't we are not energetic enough or eager enough. Its sad, i only wish i wouldn't be born dark ever again. Its such a heavy weight to carry, especially when you needed the support most.

They have dated other races too. Like I said, get role models who are confident and loving. There are good people and there are bigoted people. Sometimes even from your own skin tone. Ignore them. Don’t look for everyone’s approval. Choose good people and don’t raise skin colour as your ultimate idea of beauty. That just shows a lack of experiencing the good

I usually only spend a night or two in Singapore as a long layover, but recently got back from a 9-day vacation there. I definitely discovered more racism on this trip, which is kind of sad. Most of it is directed toward darker-skinned people who are expected to accept less favorable treatment to that of Chinese and whites. I had to scold one Singaporean at Universal Studios for allowing whites and Chinese to take photos of family on the rides while enforcing the "no photo rule" against darker skinned patrons. I was pretty loud (ONE RULE FOR EVERYONE!!!) so he was definitely embarrassed. Although racism in Singapore is not universal and there were some incredibly kind Singaporeans that we met, the backward, second-class treatment was a bit of a shock for such an outwardly modern country. MUCH better treatment in Malaysia, which is right next door and a LOT cheaper.

The fundamental problem is the insular nature of Chinese people! And most importantly the expansionist policy of Chinese CCP govt ! We are having positive relationship Taiwan 🇹🇼 and they are investing in India 🇮🇳 😀! Scientists and mathematicians of the islamic golden age admired our work. Greeks and Romans also used to look up to us. Good old times. Anglo-Saxons and other Westerners are the reason that South Asians face discrimination worldwide. They ruined our image by portraying us as animal f*ckers, street sh*tters, unhygienic (India needs to work on hygiene, I admit, but man often it is over exaggerated), savages, r*pists, etc. West butchered our reputation.
