Makes sense to keep the diet consistent because like he said if you gorge yourself on things that you don't normally eat You're likely to have an upset stomach and you're not going to perform well if you don't feel well.
I am a firm believer in the power of pizza and beer. Friday night is pizza night with the family. Saturday morning is strongman event day. I competed in my first contest in September. Went out for pizza and beer the night before. Took second in my class out of 18 and hit PRs in overhead reps and max deadlift. 🍕 🍺
