Probably spent a solid days worth of my childhood playing this game and had zero idea of the mechanics lol very interesting to see it being played correctly
It's incredible how 8bit songs may give you the chills. It's even more incredible how they take you back in time, when everything was simple and beautiful
The only reason everything seemed simple and beautiful was cos you were young or a child. There was still war, poverty etc. Tired of people thinking times were better just cos it was good for them cos they were children and luckily didn't have to worry about anything.
@@seajay632 Us "people you are tired of" obviously mean that life was simple because filtered from the eyes of young and naive boy/girl, we don't mean it in a self-centered and arrogant way. Chill 🤞🏻
This video is extremely fitting. I have been getting back into pinball games, and this one is at the top of my list. I forgot how much pinball was such a large part of my childhood. It was the only game I could play on my grandma's old computer, you Space Cadet Pinball enjoyers know about that lol. Impressive speed run!!
Wow, I knew tilting was important was in this game but I didn't know just how much you could do with it. Crazy stuff Fun tip for anyone playing for points and not for time: the best way to handle Mewtwo is to get as close to winning the stage as you can and then intentionally lose. That way your next bonus stage will still be Mewtwo, and you can rack up points like crazy.
Impressive stuff 😮 I'm actually a huge fan of the pokemon pinball franchise. There's something i didn't quite catch: how exactly did you manage to get in and out of each bonus level without going through a new round of capture and/or evolution each time?
Me and my dads really enjoyed this game, and the rumble function was a very nice add for gameboy color and such a novelty for that era. Pinball from R&S was cool too. I really missed new versions of this pinball format.
as a pinball fan and a pokemon fan, I found it hard to enjoy this game yet I still own my original copy from when I was 11 years old. I really expected more content from it considering how much content the previous pokemon games had haha. I did still enjoy the game but I was severely let down by lack of content.
@@bxbbyxx He played through the meowth stage, but then activated some sort of glitch. The bonus cave remained open because he had a slot lined up, but then he managed to get the ball to reenter the bonus cave without touching the flipper or any other part of the table, and then rather than triggering a slot, it triggered the next bonus stage instead. I just don't know what went into activating that particular glitch.
Cave remained open (but not entered) and there seems to be some time before the "go to bonus" function of the cave is activated. Can be used to repeat/advance bonus
buying this game so I can start speedrunning it soon. Maybe expect a bit of competition >:) (ahaha jk I'm gonna suck at it for like a year before I start to get good but I'm still really interested!!)
Very difficult. Extreme precision is needed to make the shots he's making consistently. The goal of the speedrun is to beat Mewtwo, which is the third bonus stage. Lots of people have never even seen Mewtwo in this game, let alone beaten him.
How did you go straight from Meowth to Seel? I see you had the bonus lights on when you went to Meowth, but it just immediately hops to Seel without even showing that's where you are going.
It seems like slowing down the ball by letting it roll over the flipper is an important strategy. And getting the ball to land on the tip of the flipper to get a controlled upward shot. Had no idea I could just press nothing at the beginning and bounce into the lights slot :/
I just wanna say that speedrunning this on a computer isn’t fair. I hope that you don’t think this is the equivalent of speedrunning it on the handheld.
Must played this for dozens of hours as a kid and had no clue about the Mewtwo stage. Very cool!

The Ecruteak City jazz revamp is incredible. It really stands as its own while being familiar and nostalgic

That's because it was composed by Go Ichinose, he also did GSC's national park theme
@@HardToBeAPoopGodIts not a revamp of Ecruteak, its an 8bit version of the first opening song for the japanese anime.
I never knew it as a kid, but hearing the catch song 20+ years later I’m realizing that it’s Mezase Pokemon Master, the original JP anime theme
Same
That was literally me right now! I played this game a lot as a kid, but only know I realized from where the song came.

My favorite pinball game is the plug n play DBZ one with the shenron joystick.
The only game me and my dad actually played together when I was a kid. Remember spending days trying to beat his unbeatable high score. Good times
I played this alot but I never knew about Mewtwo.

That's what I also used to do! ^^
@@holiciomes I do it this way without even trying!
I couldn't quite believe how many points you can get on that stage.
This brings back memories I forgot I had. Loved this game but forgot everything about it until now.
Bro moves the pokeball like a pro, I suck so bad at this
Tilt violation.
Mezase Pokemon master plays when you try to catch a Pokemon
That may be why this game never made it to 3DS Virtual Console.
@@pokepressShame on TPCI if true. They also used the uninspired music from the anime dub in a TCG documentary.

I didn't even know there were sages like that, and I played the game hours and hours when I was a kid, but never understood much
You could put a AAA battery in the cartridge to give it the rumble feature. I had this, the TCG video game, and Blue. Pokemon'd out
Man makes me want to play this game again with some strategy. I just try to play it like regular pinball lolz

Great video, although I was never a fan of the Pinball game. Just seemed like it was so hard to get a full Pokédex (or even half)
Would love a commentary on this to appreciate the mechanics of this game
