Sure and I figured people who are into custom keyboard would be in the comments saying this. But Glorious says it's aimed at people who want that custom experience without the hassle of DIY, waiting for group buys, finding the right parts, waiting weeks or months for shipping etc. Yes, it's expensive, but so are custom keyboards. Though price is entirely subjective obviously anyway. It's not going to be for everyone but it makes a fancy custom keyboard more readily accessible to the masses.
@@TheProvokedPrawn You can do the same with Keychron or any other number of manufactures for half the price. The issue with this board is that it sounds terrible, ignores important things like south facing LEDs, and charges significantly more than the competition.
It has not much to do with the custom keyboard experience. It maybe sells the feeling to people. I get the experience for beginners can be quiet bad, but many projects move to in stock nowadays. Geon does MOQ 3000 GMK kits (so they are cheap) with Evil Dolch and Neo Boards are readily available (sometimes sadly preorder). The high end stuff is group buy and this will not really change, because the designers and vendors have not the capacity to stock 400 or 500 usd boards and take the risk of a flop.
Btw. i don't get why they don't even use a magnetic connector (does this interfere with HE?) or even a ball catch system. Thats things making it quiet easy for beginners.
@@thatsl1ve183 I can actually understand why they don’t. You want a really tight fit between the upper and lower case. You can’t get that with magnets or ball connectors.
As someone who’s been wanting to build a complete custom keyboard I actually think this is great. Every keyboard I have wanted to build barebones has been out of stock with little to NOTHING about when it’s coming in stock or if it never will. The custom keyboard market is honestly a mess, and I think someone like me who wants to get into it, it’s so off putting
@@TheProvokedPrawn on the other hand, complete custom aluminium keyboard pre builds are sitting on $100 or even lower and I think that’s more bang for buck
Keychron Q1 HE does the exact same thing. It’s $220 prebuilt. It has wireless, aluminum body, Hall effect, and knob. All you get from this keyboard is cooler colors, dual HE/MX switches, and 8000hz for the wired connection. Definitely not almost double the price. (Another keyboard to mention is the Monsgeek MW1 V3 HE Similar as GMMK and has the 8000hz wired for $109-$129). Yes I get the flexibility for custom colors, but this is the new Apple company of peripherals taxing because they are Glorious. Like I why spend $409 for an all white HE wireless keyboard when I can save $300 with a keyboard that has the same features. Like if they made it cheaper by $150 it’ll be more competitive in the keyboard market. I really loved Glorious before with their good mice and keyboards but now they are getting greedy. No shame to the people who want the custom-ability of different colors but if it’s an all white/silver or all black it shouldn’t cost this much.
Also great review (or brief overview) , i know I'm not the target audience for the keyboard but it doesn't stop me from admitting that this is a good review, subscribing to see more.
The glorious is expensive but it is a custom build. If you would like to compare the Keychron Q1HE to something you can pick up a prebuilt Glorious GMMK3 HE for $180 on the website.
@@leonardodeoleo2645 i don't think you read my comment in full. yes its custom the only difference it makes. the $180 prebuilt is not wireless, its plastic not aluminum, and only comes in black and white. At that point pick up a wooting 80HE. yes i understand its harder for other colors, but if i want a white aluminum frame, 75%, HE, and wireless (which the monsgeek M1W V3 HE and Keychron Q1 HE does for $129 and $220 respectively), shouldn't pay $407. a white metal body and HE isn't that much its overpriced. not to mention the size makes it more expensive.
your downplaying the custom part. I assume the lack of options from Keychron keeps the cost down at the factory. But you hit the nail in the head because the GMMK3 is a bigger key board which will also reflect in the cost.
Looks cool until I configured my own. Ended up at $488….thats pretty daft imo. But thx for covering the product Prawn, I’m sure keyboard fanatics will love it.
Few things i wanted to point out or ask. I saw another reviewer who used the lynx switches and they sounded terrible. I know sound is subjective but they're branded as being msrbly sounding and sound more clacky, and not in a good way. Second those stabilizers looked ultra wobbly!!!! I would swap them for screw in stabs. I wanted to ask your input about how the software is. Some people say it stinks, but my overall impression is that its well built. Overall, great review!
@TheProvokedPrawn you did.and never mind I'm gonna return it and stick with my wooting and not because is a bad keyboard I just think for the price the wooting is a way better option
Yeah this is a horrific buy, sounds dreadful and any config no matter what way you flip it is excessively overpriced.. Stock stabs are not well tuned, switches are awfully scratchy sounding when boards like the rainy75 have HMX hyacinths as a stock switch
you should ask glorious for the silent switches, not many silent hall effect switches on the market currently, should make for a nice video, only one i know off that isn't Glorious is Gamakay HE Phoenix
Watched a few other reviews of this keyboard. It sounds absolutely terrible for a custom board. I have an Aula F75 and it sounds a million times better. It may not have HE switches but it cost a fraction of the price (€80)
I seriously doubt anyone's camera/mics can really do the real life experience any justice. Not saying you're wrong of course, because I've not tried the Aula F75, but it sounds lovely IRL
@@TheProvokedPrawn We hear plenty of other keyboards through microphones that sound just fine, this Glorious keyboard is an embarrassment for the money.

Doing switch comparisons on the escape, tab, shift, and control keys is diabolical work. Such different keys to be testing switches on 😂
Thanks for the feedback
Looking forward to more HE keyboards reviews in the future!
Have you seen or will be reviewing the Wooting and Meletrix HE keyboards?
I don't have a contact with Wooting at the moment, but have heard all the raving about them obviously :)
Funny how the prices aren't shown like on the actual website, because that number goes way up and down depending on what you want.
