- Lancia Stratos made After winning 3 time Championship in 70s with 1974 Lancia Stratos HF Group 4, the engineers from Lancia decided to to make this model for the public but only 492 pieces were made!
What came out?
This Italian superb car, styled by BERTONE, with 2.4l Ferrari V6 mounted in the middle.

To be honest:
The Stratos was my absolute dream car as a child. "Number 2" were the X1/9 and the Morgan +8 (which I now have in my garage). I wasn't really interested in the Testarossa, or the Countach, which everyone else "dreamed" of at the time. (Way too big and unwieldy, these bowls...)
By the way: The 037 to me is "much to much" of the '80th. I would prefere the 027.

I´m german and I know that german cars may not fall in pices, but the hearth of them is missing !!! That´s why I love italian and english cars, at the street and in racing.
It is the best rallycar btw, and one of the best streetcars ever made, too.
Could have bought one in 1986 for 22.000 DM, but got a used Lotus Esprit instead.

Alessio S there wasn't an integrale evo 3, the evo 2 was only to make the road car more practical hence its luxuries and smaller turbo, the evo 1 was the last version of the group a integrales

I had a Ritmo and yes some parts fell into pieces like my driver seat, but the car kept on running, until the unibody rusted beyound repair at age 13,
Nowadays they are better, see the Fiat punto's MK1 of 1995 most of them don't even have rust underneath and the are 16 years old.

We saw Billy Coleman driving one in Athenry during the Galway rally 1977. It was unbeluckingfievable, spinning all over the place and always on the road.
There used to be one parked up right in the middle of Camden 10 years ago. Gone now. It may have been a copy.
In Kansas you used to be able to get a agi drivers license at age 12. We farm kids were sliding around the gravel backroads unaware that there was this motorsport called rally. Then my dad recieved his first issue of Autoweek. There in all its black & white glory was the Lancia Stratos and the wonderfull world of rally. Instant hook. I still find my heart burn with lust when I see one.

It's funny they talk about like it was ferarri or porshe. The only reason 500 road going versions were made was so it could compete in rallying. It served no other purpose, and purportedly sat in dealer showrooms up into the early 80's
