LYRICS (YEAR 1993):
"Seven days" is all she wrote
A kind of ultimatum note
She gave to me
She gave to me
When I thought the field had cleared
It seems another suit appeared
To challenge me
Oh, woe is me
Though I hate to make a choice
My options are decreasing mostly rapidly
Well, we'll see
I don't think she'd bluff this time
I really have to make her mine
It's plain to see
It's him or me
Monday, I could wait 'til Tuesday
If I make up my mind
Wednesday would be fine
Thursday's on my mind
Friday'd give me time
Saturday could wait
Sunday'd be too late
The fact he's over six feet ten
Might instill fear in other men
But not in me
The mighty flea
Ask if I am mouse or man
The mirror squeaked, away I ran
He'll murder me
In time for his tea
Does it bother me at all
My rival is Neanderthal?
It makes me think, hey
Perhaps I need a drink
IQ is not an issue here
We won't be playing Scrabble
For her hand I fear
I need that beer, hey
Monday, I could wait 'til Tuesday
If I make up my mind
Wednesday would be fine
Thursday's on my mind
Friday'd give me time
Saturday could wait
Sunday'd be too late
Seven days will quickly go
The fact remains, I love her so (I love her so)
Seven days, so many ways
I can't run away
No, I can't run away
Monday, I could wait 'til Tuesday
If I make up my mind
Wednesday would be fine
Thursday's on my mind
Friday'd give me time
Saturday could wait
Sunday'd be too late
Oh, Sunday
Sunday'd too late, too late
Too late, too late, oh
Do I have to tell the story
Of a thousand rainy days since we first met?
Oh!
It's a big enough umbrella
But it's always me that ends up getting wet

(Also, those who owned Ten Summoner's Tales in physical format and read the lyrics will know I didn't make up "(flee?)")
He'll always be the king of pain, never forget, lad... he never hid his torment...

that drummer was spot on. the whole composition was amazing. something about sting always strikes me as genius. i love his eternal quest through all genres of music, finding harmony with all the talents in the world.
This Harkonnen fella sure knows how to write a tune.

lol! had read your replies see how many got it ;)
I like Stings voice. He knows when to put in a good chord here and there. He's alright. There's no one to compare him with, and that is outstanding.
The irony of a song called "seven days" being in 5/4. Really cool song.
That's what I thought initially, but then thinking objectively it should be equally ironic if it was in 4/4 or 3/4 😊
Drummers who come from different dimensions
Absolutely 👍
I love the story in this song. Brilliant, it unfolds in your mind like a play.
Until now , every song I've heard of Sting I can say that he creates masterpieces by writing beautifully with no vulgarity , deep and amazing vocal and great lyrical melody !
One of the things that I love about Sting's lyrics is that they really make you reflect upon life, in a kind of Dhalesque come Wilde way 😊. Thank you.
This whole album was an absolute masterpiece,
and there are not a lot of true masterpieces out there.
Drumming masterclass!
Increíblemente. 5/4 o 5/8?
5/4
5/8
Miss li
It would be 5/4 because it's 5 quarter notes per bar. 5/8 would mean there are 5 eighth notes per bar, which isn't true because in this song their are 10 eighth notes per bar.
I can listen to this song over and over again. Great song!
Me too
Gracias Sting!
Toda razón amigo, el album "The soul cages" es genial!!!
I so wish that someone out there would come along again and make amazing music like this again. The contemporary crap that's out there now is worthless. This is one of my all time favorite Sting songs and in my opinion is flawless.
Sting is genius when it comes to song writing and with such English clarity in vocal makes him easily the best singer song writer in the world.
Hail to you Mr. Sting!
Holy Crap... Gives me goosebumps every time I hear VC on this. Great song
From 2.57 I always dream to be Dominic Miller's hands, fabulous arpeggio !!!🤩
I don't think Sting has ever written a bad song.
Not to mention that Vinnie Colaiuta's one of those drummers that's truly hypnotic to watch
+x1StapleGun He's one of my favorite drummers! I don't have many... (!)
Drummer Vinnie Colaiuta
I think your correct
He is a genius. This is possibly his best song. (Not counting The Police.)
Sting é um cara simples e muito gentil, tomei café com ele algumas vezes em NY e sempre muito feliz e bem humorado!👍👍🍺🍺
That's how to sing with drums. Perfectly nice duet with Sting's beautiful voice.
This album plunged me further into depression after a breakup and then pulled me out of the depths just in time. It was there as a guide that led me out of massive depression. My fav drummer of his - of all time. Man, the bridge of this song hits me so damn hard still.
I hope you are feeling better now.
@@davidmg1925 I am. Thank you brother.
THE MASTERPIECES STING!
Sting and his music is always a treat 😍
Brought my Son (18) to see him @ The Wiltern 11/16/24. His Mother and I saw him with Branford @ Riverfest in Minnesota in 1990. My Son is in part alive due to my gal's and mine shared joy and love of Sting's musical arrangements. Thank you Good Sir!
At 2:54 you can see that drummer Vinnie’s splash cymbal and come loose and tilted sideways. Then, at 3:01, it’s back to normal. Then, at 4:15, it’s tilted sideways again!
Must have been filmed in multiple takes with someone fixing it in-between shots.
Absolutely therapeutic everytime I listen from back then til now...True music artistry and ingenious.
How brilliant is this. Sting was there with the Police in my musical infancy, now in my elder years there's still classics like these. Lucky to be alive during his career
This beautiful melody gliding through 5/4 overlaid with more syncopation. These guys make it sound so easy.
This music is flowiing like a mountain stream...and I love some nostalgic mood in tune...it gives me beauty of real life.
Musicians at the top of their game -- alongside one of the best song writers.
