72 Seasons - Metallica (ON-SCREEN TABS) (BRAND NEW SONG 2023) (ONE-TAKE COVER)

- one hell of an amalgamation
First single that I actually am jamming to, I think it's slightly better than Lux Æterna, just because I like the riffs a lot more, it's more fun to play at least, and the solo is actually pretty solid!
This cover was done within 24 hours of release, it could've been faster, but I decided to try and nail down all rhythm parts, and get most of the solo on point aswell.
If you enjoy what I do and want to support me, then I would really appreciate it, if you hit the subscribe button to help grow this channel, thanks!
TABS AND MORE ON PATREON: / marcusandersen
THE TABS ARE ALWAYS MORE ACCURATE THAN MY PLAYING, so if I play something and the tabs say otherwise, it's because I played inaccurately, and the tabs are from when I listened closely to the song and figured out the parts.
TUNING IS E STANDARD (E A D G B E)
GEAR USED:
Epiphone Les Paul Standard (9-46 in E Standard)
Archetype: Gojira
Studio One 5.5
Thank you for putting this together! At the bridge at 4:25, are you lifting your index finger after striking the G# on the E string to then use your finger tip to hit the pair of 4s on the G and D strings before returning back to G#? I feel like I’m hitting an open E because I can’t switch back in time (even when I slow this video down). 😖 Thanks!
It's a really tricky part, it was easily the hardest part to get down and learn for this song, at least out of the rhythm parts.
I think the easiest might actually be to use the middle finger on the e-string, and slightly lift off of it when hitting the pairs, so you use the index for the first 2 pairs, and then pinky finger for the last pair.
Another way is to always use the index finger on the e-string and then slightly lift off to hit the pairs, while using pinky for the last pair.
In both ways, which I think is the most comfortable, no idea what James or Kirk does, you do not use fingertips to hit the pairs, you use one finger for them, and hit them similar to how one would do a barre chord.
Feel free to ask if something sounds weird/confusing, I'm bad at explaining guitar things, and that part is tricky for a Metallica riff, the timing also doesn't make it any easier!
You explained it well. Thank you! Like anything else, I just need to slow it down, use a metronome, and practice. Have a nice weekend!
what i do is i hold my index finger on the e string and bar the first two chords, but for the 3rd chord i use my middle and ring like a normal 3 note power chord
dont worry about muting the e string if you're palm muting. just make sure to let go of the pairs once you play them they are 8th notes dont let them ring out. lift off of them before going back to the g# on the e string. hope this helps i think this is the easiest way
Judas priest song written by Metallica....
What song
Why?
0:54 Look at the tabs. Just a heavy version of Sandman
Awesome....my favorite of the first 4 singles 🤘
all of these riffs are so freakin fun to play
Is it just me or is my mind having a hard time hearing the first chord on beat 4 rather than hearing as if it was on beat 1?
It's very tricky but I found it was the only way it made sense because then the song starts on 1 and everything is 4/4
72 Seasons there it is, probably the best of the 4 songs released from the new Tallica album, Thats a long time to stay focused and not make any mistakes, none I noticed that is, I did notice that you got both solos down, which is awesome, even without the wah pedal. The guitar needs new strings, they look kinda old :-) Hopefully a lot of people will learn the song from this cool video. I will award the video another 10/10 cause it can´t be done better with the time spent. Great work as usual, and i recommend others to like and subscribe, remember to hit the notification 🔔 for more videos coming in April 🔥
I just can't get my wrist to do the fast alternate picking speedy parts, without forearm pain or burning out :( Sucks. That and my brain just has this awkward brain fart disconnect between my fretting hand when doing those simple little but fast power chord burst with the E, F, F# or G power chords in the first 3 frets lol I get tripped up with simple things like that, that should be easy lol But I always trip up or get the order wrong lol Definitely sucks when you start guitar at age 46 lol So kids...start young and keep at it lol I'll never gain back the reflexes and tendons I've lost over the years...ugh.
Im wondering y u weren't in ur usuall spot like in the rest of ur vids
Have to take care of my mom's dog for a few days while she's not home, so I have a mini vacation! Had to make this video though of course!
@@TheEternalFlavour oh ok. Kool and interesting
Dont remember metallica ever doong a key change from e to g sharp before. Cool cover
Anyone have a trick to count the riff start? I'm always 1 ahead or behind😂
world's fastest tabber ❤
The song on this album are really good, they have 2 only "problems". First is the tone, too light for a metal band, and the second one is kirk. His solo are just noise, is time that thay change "soloist" or don't make solos.
Have they been influenced by their Gojira buddies, who were influenced by Metallica? ...sick! 🙂
Awesome cover^^ it sounds amazing and u did a gr8 job^^
I like the easier gallop type riffs . Still have trouble with the … and justice album lol . Weeks to get blackened down , then another few weeks to get it up to speed 🤘🤘🤘
I was playing around with chords and accidentally got the staring (9,12 5,7 7,9) and wanted to confirm if this was the chords they used and lol it is thanks
I'm finally getting better at it. This has taken me much longer to learn and build up the endurance and avoid forearm tendonitis and burn out lol I'm getting happier with my progress and hope to get my cover (jam along) out later this week! I've been watching and playing along to your video and using your tabs as a guide when I need to peek at something as I go thru my practice runs.
Mine won't be perfect , but I'll be happy with it, considering my lack of skills, years on guitar, and my age lol I'll be happy! lol
Good to hear MetallicA actually playing some tricky guitar riffs again. Nice work pal
Metallica will give you a test of guitarism
Yeah these riffs are fucking awesome, favorite riffs on the album for sure in this track. Came in with low expectations first hearing about the release but I am very pleasantly surprised. Going to see them in 2024 on their M72 tour feel like a little kid again, new good Metallica album fuuuck yes.
that and james’s vocals are solid
Finally got thru it and covered it. Lol
Before my forearm ceased up lol
Tough for an old guy like me lol
Good job man. That's a lot of work to figure out the song by ear...solos and all and then record a video that has the tabs? You put in work man. And it makes it so I don't have to sit down and learn it, even though most new Metallica songs I can already hear the notes in my head like the main riff on this song I knew was that 5-6 on the low E, then 7 on the A string and that whole riff was like a combo of that was just your life and and hardwired. It's the same E, Bflat, A combo that made sandman popular. Kirk rights a lot of the good riffs, that's why I hate when James and Lars are the only ones writing the songs. This album I know Rob has a writing credit and Kirk has 2 so far from what I seen on Spotify. Kirk write the sandman riff, the creeping death "DIE, BY MY HAND" part. And usually when all 3 of them write a song it comes out better. I thought since they hired Rob everything was going to be split equally. Idk if that was song credit wise or money wise. Cause on st.anger it said all songs written my Metallica. I think it said that on death magnetic too which was a great comeback album. You just have to listen to the guitar hero version.
and the pre-chorus breakdown part is straight outta "Spit Out The Bone"... I hate it that they keep recycling the same riffs, with barely any imagination/creativity put into them
1st song I like from the new album.....also was disappointed with the Lux song
Wow Marcus, amazing playing and such accurate tabs, great stuff, thank you so much for taking the time to post this. Cheers!
Spot on! Amazing cover. Any chance you can offer the tab for the song like on Ultimate guitar or something so we can play along slow down etc? Killer playing!
I'm sure there are/will be bigger and maybe better tabs on Ultimate Guitar, I think there's already one there last time I checked, but you can kind of cross reference with the video
slow it down on youtube
Its on songsterr

Dude thanks for this! You nailed it. Spent an hour or so learning this from you, just uploaded what I got so far on my channel. What a fun song to play! I still have a ways to go tho, more practice tomorrow 🤘
Bro
How the F do you learn this so fast??
Good job there
Thanks a lot. So clear and perfect
Great cover man ! 🤘Once I ve seen how to play a song, I understand it better and I really like 72 seasons ! This one is a killer tune ! I just wonder how the intro will sound live...because you have this Bass note played fast, I think an E in a Motorhead style all along the Intro and at the same time, the Bass is played with the drums and guitars...2 differents Bass lines...I hope they will not let down the intro like they do on some songs, put it on tape, and start playing after...like Hardwired for example...it would be a crime !!!
You kick ass, dude. Thanks for the tab.
Awesome man!! Thanks!!
Can u plz do Kick Ass by Bryan Adams next plz
I will probably not cover it sorry

this is sick! ive been looking for this song! awesome tabs
Damn, dude..friggin’ awesome!!!
Any tips on getting your tremolo picking up to speed? Been struggling with tensing up real bad. Amazing video!
Minimizing movement is by far the biggest thing, angling your pick slightly so it's not completely flat when hitting the string, making sure you're not moving your arm when picking fast.
I think those would be my best tips off the top!
@@TheEternalFlavour so you mean only using the wrist and no arm at all? And thanks!
Yep, try to avoid using your arm for the actual motion of hitting the strings.
You might tense up a bit in your forearm when going really fast, but I believe that is completely fine, that just needs to be practiced!
For Metallica open palm mute spam, try and plant your arm on the bridge while palm muting, and just use your wrist while trying to make the movement as small as possible!
@@TheEternalFlavour awesome! Thanks so much man!
Wow! Freakin awesome. Thanks so much!
Damn that tone are on point! Awesome.
good work bro, perfect!!!
Brilliant, well done
Flawless well done
