    Sounds like you have a worn throttle shaft bushing. Will leak some fuel and cause vacuum leak. Replace carb is easiest fix.

    Are you still in St. Louis? I just bought a 73 standard beetle and would love to connect to get some advice on maintenance and upkeep.

    You don’t need to change the oil before you check or adjust your valves.

      Thanks they are great family treasures that are going to stay in the family for quite a while they just need a little more lovin then a regular daily driver these bugs get only about 5,000 miles on them every year.

    You need a new eng..with duel carbs and big power....call CB performance they have what you want...

      Yea if you want to pay for the name. You can build a $8500 CB engine for 4500. I’m not paying 4500 to have one put together
