- This classic Oldsmobile car commercial, featuring Mel and Noel Blanc (Mel Blanc's son) and the Looney Tunes characters, is Mel Blanc's final performance. He died a few months later in July 10, 1989.
I edited this commercial between a KTLA 1989 Commercial Break from Dailymotion (gone now but I saved it), and from Noel Blanc's award video from 2010.
UPDATE of May 21, 2023: here's the full unedited commercial, encoding by @jericodvorak4538

Mel Blanc actually passed away immediately after this commercial. He had a bad cough, his son Noel drove him to the hospital, and he never checked out.
He had a bad cough because he was recovering from the flu, but that isn't what killed him. While he was in the hospital, his nurse forgot to put the rail up over his bed, and he fell out, breaking some bone (I forget which one). As it was healing, it formed a clot that broke off and obstructed an artery, causing him to have a fatal heart attack or stroke.
Even if he hadn't fallen out of bed, it's unlikely he would have lived much longer because he was already in his 80s at the time. When you're young, a fall like that might cause a few bumps, cuts, or bruises, but at his age it can easily become fatal, and in his case, it did. And of course, it's possible that his near-fatal car accident in 1961 may have taken its toll on him and shortened his life as well.
He was suffering from emphysema, he broke his femur, and he had a stroke
Whatever the actual story, Mel Blanc's days were numbered.
Why must God be so cruel to one of the greatest voice actors in existence? Mel didn’t deserve to die this way. 😢😢😢😭
@@zacharyholmes1466 It isn't God's fault. Mel was a longtime smoker; he started at the age of nine and only quit after developing emphysema at 77. His death was thought to be a complication of that. As is the case with most smokers, he died entirely due to his own choices, but that doesn't mean that it was any less of a loss when it happened. So while it's true that God allowed it to happen, it's not like He was solely responsible for the way Mel died.
Who knew Mel Blanc's iconic “Thats All, Folks!” line would be his last?
especially considering how that iconic line is written on his tombstone

Somehow, Noel Blanc's Looney Tunes imitations managed to cement the fact that the legendary Mel Blanc is his father!
RIP you absolute legend. You will never be forgotten as long as there are people around who still love cartoons
Mel Blanc's final work RIP
Marc Olivier Lachance actually his final final role was in The Jetsons Movie. That was released in 1991 and was also his final screen credit. But I believe that if ya goto disney world and goto the carousel of progress, and listen to the parrot, that was also Mel Blanc
That truly is all, folks
This is the last thing that Mel Blanc ever filmed. He died shortly thereafter. So as great a commercial as this is, there's a hint of sorrow in it.
In a way, it makes it all the more appropriate that he says, "That's all folks" at the end.
@@hotwax9376 Mel Blanc Died on July 10th 1989 from Heart problems and Emphysema
@@jonathanclary3992 That's right.
He was actually driven to the hospital in this same car by his son where he passed a few days later. So seeing the car drive off in the sunset with the looney tunes characters in it was sad knowing he was driving away from us forever
@@Fan-zy5me I didn't know that. That maks this ad even more eerie.
I can remember seeing this commercial on TV in October or November 1989, but only once.
“That’s All Folks!” - Mel Blanc.
Mel Blanc's last performance ever.
The true end of an era. RIP Mel Blanc.
BTW, Mel Blanc wasn't originally Elmer Fudd, contrary to what 0:10 would imply; the original actor was a radio star named Arthur Q. Bryan. He died in 1959, and up to that point Blanc only played Elmer Fudd on and off a few times. It wasn't until 1972 that Blanc took over the role permanently.
Mainly when Elmer had only a few lines of dialog to speak, or in "Good Night, Elmer," when he cried at the end because of a persistent candle that kept him up all night.
Every time they asked Mel about Elmer Fudd, he always made sure that everyone knew it was really done by Arthur Q. Bryan. He tells about how they asked if he could imitate him, which Mel hated to do. But he decided to do it. Just saying, he never took credit as the creator or original voice of Elmer Fudd.
And Mel wasn't originally the voice of Porky as he was originally voiced by the late Joe Dougherty.
@@MegaMario5671 true but the difference was that Joe was fired whereas Arthur passed away.
Mel admitted in his autobiography that he never did the voice to his satisfaction. Honestly he was right. As talented as he was, even his talent had limitations. It sounded off and his speech impediment felt forced compared to how Arthur Q. Bryan did.
Excellent work saving the Oldsmobile commercial.
daffy was like wait for meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
As a Bugs Bunny fan, I love to watch Mel's documentary. I read the book by Ben Ohmart. One day, I was reading it at my workplace, and this one worker saw what I was reading. She said to me that, in the 60s, she saw Mel at the Wisconsin Dells. My knees nearly gave out. I was very amazed!
Knowing this was his last project before his death made me smile and feel solemn.
Rest in peace, mel blanc 💐🌹🥀🌺🌷
Noel. Look at that guy pulling his hair out.
Mel. What hair? 😃
God this is the best oldsmobile commercial
Bruh.
Poor DAFFY
I wasn't aware of this being the very last thing that Mel Blanc did before he unfortunately passed away
noel was lisping
This makes me sad

Bored, so here's the script.
Noel: I tell my dad I'm buying a new car, and he says: (imitating Sylvester) "Sufferin' succatash, get a sensible car! (imitating Porky) Get a comfortable car! (imitating Bugs) No doc, get a gorgeous car! (imitating Elmer) Get a reasonably priced car!" (imitating Sylvester) So I did! The new Cutlass Ciera, great when you buy it, drive it, trade it. What more could you want in a car?
(all talking)
Mel: (imitating Bugs) That's all, folks! (imitating Daffy) This is the new generation of Olds!
Bother why couldn’t Noel finish what his dad started
I heard through the grapevine that he turned down a Warner Bros contract that would allow him to take over voicing the characters, but he probably wouldn’t be paid very well.
dang those cars were crap....sad!
