If there was ever an “Underrated 100” on RUclips, your channel would be this week on top of the chart. Great job Cade to you and everyone involved. Keep at it. I def see you blowing up.
Very kind! Maybe someday! Fingers crossed 🤞 haha
agreed. Perfection.
@@CadeRoberts It's simply a matter of time now. If you keep pumping out this type of content (there's many cover artists - your new angle is unique from what I've seen), you simply need people to find you. And make sure you keeping mentioning techniques from previous videos too. I watched the Mr Blue Sky vid as it was recommended by the algorithm... then you mentioned Mutt Lang's backing vox techniques. You have a new subscriber!
Fantastic !! Great job on this, really enjoyed it !!
Very Good. We played this Live when it came out in mid 80’s. Fun to do ☺️👍🎚🎧
You are really good at hearing DETAILS...I do the same on my "COVER" try to REc./Trk just like it was back when it came out but we'l never be spot on but in high 90+% which is GREAT!!! again I watched your other w/ your sister again...OMG! you guys have it ( runs the the Family i guess ) anyhow looking forward to future VIDS :) George Amodei
Again another awesome recreation of an amazing song. What really comes across is this economic and sparse use of musical themes that interweave in interesting ways. This is a love letter to the genius of Tears for Fears. I can not listen to this particular song without choking up. Everything is exquisite about this song. The chord structure alone is a lesson in composition and arrangement. The intro keyboards remind me of churchbells ringing out over the city on a sunny day. So much feeling in this one. Very inspiring to watch.
Another great video, I really enjoy these 40-50 min breakdowns and getting a glimpse into your work flow, super inspiring and informative 👍🏼 thank you 😊 Keep up the great work.
Epic channel! Great work!
Love these videos! Great work! Very Inspiring!
Absolutely amazing! I love that you recreate these incredible songs. You nail the songs. Tears For Fears is one of my all time fave bands.
My memory is that the Eventide H969 had a voltage control input that allowed it to do that kind of whammy-pedal pitch shift in the early '80s. It's been a long time, so I'm not 100% sure.
Exceptional cover, as usual.
Very interesting! I’ve never seen the H969 before so that’s pretty interesting
Hear for this! Been waiting for exactly this! One request. Please include panning with track breakdown. 🤘🥁🔥
THIS!
Very well done! At the CODA/Outro at 2:46, boost the bass level on the downbeat, easing back on beat 3 and at normal level by the end of beat 4.
One that might be cool to recreate, speaking of 80s totems, would be Owner of a Lonely Heart. Awesome video here.
As a British artist, the sound of bells is often heard in cities across the UK, coming from cathedrals or churches. Brilliant stuff mate!
Everything sounds amazing but there's something about the choral vocals that's really special.I'm a gigging musician and do some home recording and programming tracks from scratch
Love Tears for Fears and your recreation of it is amazing! I'm a self-taught drummer and engineer, so I know how much work it takes to recreate stuff like this. Great stuff! Sub'd!
Cade, just ran into this video of yours, remaking a Tear for Fear song. Great job, love how you explain what you did, I think I can learn from your process. I think I am going to stick around. Thanks!!!!
As I write this comment, there is some hubub on RUclips because Rick Beato said that music has become too easy to create and consume. As I listen to you talk about this song, it occurs to me that what you're talking about is the flip side of that. Taking some time to make the parts a little more special (which is also easier to do these days but still requires experimentation and diligence) rewards the listener so much.
Yes, I'm aware and I totally get where he's coming from! That's one of my main aspirations with this channel is to hopefully inspire people in that way. It's true, like you say, it's easier now than it was back then so we definitely have no excuse not to go that extra mile! haha
You, sir, have just won yourself +1 subscriber!
A lot of awesome things can be learned from watching this video. The recreation sounds spot on, too!
The same here
Amazing. Subscribed.
Great stuff!!
You are genius man..make it more…i learned a lot.
Great video! I love this. Great job!
superb thank you for this, another new subscriber.
A stunning achievement - well done. Head Over Heels seems to be stuck in my head permanently recently (which watching this video hasn't helped).
I'd love to see you cover something by Prince, maybe Sign O' The Times. The sounds on that, other than the Linn Drum are a mystery to me. I think most of that song was built on a Fairlight but the sounds are really interesting, particularly the bass sound.
Bravo 👏 amazing job
Love the attention to detail and the layering and effects work. Superb!
A HIDDEN GENIUS...!!
Thanks for taking the time to put these videos together. Very informative.
Outstanding! Thank you for making this.
This is fantastic. You are an extremely talented musician and producer. Did you tackle the second verse? There are a lot of great keyboard elements after the first chorus leading to the 2nd verse. Question: What chord is the arpeggio in the intro playing?
Could you upload the sessions? These are awesome! Amazing job!
This is great would love to see a recreation of hold me now by the Thompson twins in this kind of vein
Really appreciate your insight into what you learned recording this. Massive super-fan of your channel.
Fun fact: That drum track is a drum machine on the original track. Very good programming to make it sound real.
yep! a linn drum more than likely. discussed that in the video!
Amazing job recreating it! Amongst one of the first full-length LP's my mother purchased for me in grade school. I listened to this record a lot. The vibe in your recording was definitely there.
Really great walkthrough. I would never consider layering that many keyboard sounds together but it sounds huge! What model drum kit is that?
@@j-snell-callanen26 thanks so much! We used an 80’s Yamaha Recording Custom kit with a Ludwig Acrolite snare drum
Where is the fantastic synth solo ?!! That was the highlight of the original song.
Blew it by dropping the synrh solo.
I know! I suck lol😂
Such a pity you haven't included the iconic keyboard solo ...
Agreed! I would’ve then had to include a whole second verse and chorus and I generally do shortened versions just to cut down on the amount of time these take but that probably would have been worth it for this one!
@@CadeRoberts Synth Solo on a Google Short would be icing on the cake. You and your sis are so talented!
@@michaelmonroe8314 That's a good idea! I just might do that
I'm pretty sure Roland just played that octave jump as opposed to us8ng a pitch shifter. Pitch shifting effects didn't track all that well back then.
Possibly! Sounds pitch shifted to me and someone else mentioned that they were using the Eventide H969 but I guess only Roland and them would really know
@@CadeRoberts The Eventide site dosen't say whether it was capable of doing the whammy bend thing. It could be how they got the flange on the drums, however.
It’s a harmonizer. Improved upon the H949 with extended pitch range so more than likely that’s what they used for the pitch bend although the 949 could have done it as well I’m sure
Why do you think that guitar lick was pitch-shifted and not just played?
idk! I just know that I was playing normally at first but it was definitely missing something. if you watch them live they just play it up the octave normally but I definitely don't think it's as cool without the pitch shifting
Have you considered selling the MIDI and/or stems from your recreation series?
I'm considering offering the multitrack downloads as part of a Patreon subscription or something possibly!
@@CadeRoberts Just let us know.
[ NO EASY ANSWER ] OF CAMEL PLS....!!!
I completely understand why you used Waves Metaflanger for the flanger sounds, but man oh man do their plugins look super dated - and a lot of them sound that way too.
Very true! Haha
Great Video!
The pitch shift on the intro guitar was probably a Floyd Rose vibrato on a super strat, like on Steve Stevens' Top Gun Theme...
Its probably mechanic not digital, I don't think digital pitch shifting like that was out when the record was made
Hey I know you lol
ruclips.net/video/jR_wAckkxtQ/видео.htmlsi=ieBRj2HpeQN_RyWE. I like this live version of the song by the band better than the original studio version. It is the first song.
You really love yourself, complete narcissist. You know nothing.😂
@@hughzapretti-boyden9187 “this channel has no content”
@@CadeRobertsI don't need my ego massaged because of low self-esteem like you so obviously do.
@hughzapretti-boyden9187 nope, you’ve just never made anything. says a lot about you that you would watch a video and immediately come to that conclusion. these videos are a study and appreciation of the original creator’s works more than anything else. now quit making hateful comments on RUclips and go make some music so someday you’ll have something to show for yourself
@@CadeRoberts I was drumming in bands before you were born! Ha! "A study & appreciation" don't make me laugh! You're a nobody who wants to be somebody but that'll never happen. How many times did you see TFF back in the day? NONE!😂
@@hughzapretti-boyden9187 nope, I’m just a musician posting videos on the internet and blessed to be able to do it but go ahead and Invent whatever narrative you need to brother
Roland is a hard act to follow so yeah I know what you mean with the vocal issue. Having said this I’m really excited to watch this video and see how you did this. So far it sounds mighty close but the vocals are drier than the original version but overall still decent.
Man, I get what you mean, singing Tears for Fears songs on karaoke is somewhat of a challenge!
