    This is one of the best YT channels about maintaining old Alfa Romeo's, I hope the algorithm will pick it up soon. Do not give up!

    On my 159 TBi i did it the "lazy" way. I had worn fluid which was still slightly greenish so i extracted it over a week with a syringe and filled it with green Liqui moly hydraulic fluid. So i extracted about 250-400ml in a session, drove the car a bit and repeated till i got about 2,5L and now it's still green after half a year. I just did that as part of preventitive maintance, the steering was fine before i did that but after doing that steering still got a bit better and the engine needs less work to spin the powersteering pump (i heard the engine rev a bit on my parking lot and after changing it wasn't reving as hard and sometimes it doesn't even need to rev at all ;D )

    The front part of 159/Brera are too heavy and that's why in time high pressure tube become to leak between metal part and rubber part joints. In first the leak is small - about 1 drop per 1000km, after that becoms about 50ml per 1000km and from this leak hydraulik system take air and this cause cavitation.... Sooner or later he must replace high pressyre hydraulic tube of stearing whell system. It is inevitable.

    From what I know about it, all 159s, Breras and early Spiders came from the factory with the wrong red fluid - petrol, diesel, V6. You also need to be careful when replacing this with the correct green fluid because the system can become used to the red stuff, and when you replace it, it may cause all the seals to pop out of the steering rack (ask me how I know, lol).

    Great video again Bruno, thanks.
    The small fixes, like around the 18th minute, would be great for RUclips shorts 😊
    If you had time.

      Thanks for that. I just gave up on doing shorts all together.. too time consuming and very low or no return..

    I have the exact same problem in my 2.4JTDM Brera. I might try replacing the fluid myself. Looking forward for the complete high pressure hose replacement. You are doing a great job.

    I would love to see more "boring" stuff. Sometimes it's helpful to know what else is important to keep an eye on. Especially because parts for "older" Alfas are getting rare by now...

    I just bought an 156 that is in terrible shape and im slowly fixing it. My knowledge on alfas is low so this channel is a godsend. Keep up the good work!

    Thank you,this video was very helpful. I also drive alfa Romeo 159 2.4 and my steering wheel have the same issue. My question is, is it necessary to change the oil reservoir and can it be rinsed somehow?

    • @alfaromeonoproblem
      @alfaromeonoproblem  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hello. No need for replacing the reservoir. And you can do a rinse with oil only. Like on the video

    19:38 Are these original pipes made of magic or something? Why is it that every single rebuilt pipe seems to have this issue with the vibrations, but as soon as you change it to the expensive oem one, it dissapears

    • @alfaromeonoproblem
      @alfaromeonoproblem  5 месяцев назад

      Because of the internal diameters and also some calibrated holes that it has inside

    In case of the power steering I think it was done better in Fiat, where you have an electric motor. No fluids, no pumps, no hydraulic racks. It doesn't ever go bad. And you have the CITY function which lets you turn your wheel with one finger basically.

      Hello. After 159, all Alfas came with electric power steering. MiTo, Giulietta and more

      I prefer the hydraulic power steering, you have more feeling of the ground, but it is my taste

    You are late xD! My high pressure steering line started leaking badly just 2 weeks ago! I bought a new pipe form an Italian workshop which is expert in hydraulic power steering, it is a reinforced pipe, all rubber, and reduces vibrations when turning. Also I changed the fluid with the green one, but didn't know about this procedure, I just removed the return hose from the reservoir and turned lock to lock a bunch of times until no more oil come out. Than I refilled the reservoir with new fluid and turned (with the return hose disconnected) lock to lock until green clean fluid comes out form the return line (i used a transparent tube to watch the fluid coming into the waste tank).
    Do you think this procedure is also valid Bruno?

    • @alfaromeonoproblem
      @alfaromeonoproblem  5 месяцев назад

      Hello. Thanks for watching. I believe that procedure is not bad, but it can use a lot more fluid. And mixed fluid can stay there too

      Hello, can you tell me where you got this new pipe from? I had mine refurbished and it vibrates horribly when warm and standing still

    Will someone write to him about the pump seal, or should I again explain everything myself?

      Here in Portugal, with this climate and my experience so far, no issues are developing on the seals.
