I've been using this build in the last month or so and I'm enjoying it so far. At first, I used it for clearing most of the LS content during the Return to Living World events, but now I'm also using it in casual T4 fractals, most of which didn't even need HB. I know I still have a lot to learn about this build but thanks for the guide!

@Teapot: Bro, this is absolutely fantastic. I kept waffling back and forth between Reaper and Scourge play in PvE and your video gave me the final push to stick with Scourge. I'm now able to roam around maps helping other players with the tougher champion fights and keep them up and running.
I will now brave my way into raids and other tough content thanks to actually having to think about my skill rotation.

This is awesome. Im playing some weird and not optimised scourge in pve but your video makes me thrilling to try this as a healing scourge in missions like bonneskinner. I usually run blood magic in pvp so I know how those revives works. Thanx again for this good video where everything we need to know is explained. 💪🔥🔥👨🔬 time to heal carry squads
I have been a necro main since before HoT, and now with the recent patches, there is no better time to show off my scourge knowledge. This is the build i usually run on my scourge when we need a pesudo res bot and it work great, even on my full viper gears.

With the recent EoD changes to barrier, epidemic, and torment runes are there changes for this build incoming? Plague Doctor v2.1 perhaps?
I can't speak for barrier and runes, but Epidemic is still strong. Regardless, you can just drop the skill if you feel like it isn't worth it anymore.
This one doesn't actually need much of an update, the build is the same actually! However you can go for full celestial with nightmare runes for more damage as long as there is no toughness tanking!

Not sure how I am only finding your guide now when I spend so much time watching them. Great video, great explanation, and you really make a person want to try this build. My necro bar the odd attempt here and there has been reaper since reapers became a thing, I've been wanting to give the sand a proper go for a while now, I think this might be my in.
Regarding none group content, would you change any skills or traits being if you are alone rezzing is not going to be as important, is it?

It has always been frustrating playing Healscourge and failing the fight due to missing DPS.
But why would you take Harbringer Shroud over Desert Empowerment (barrier on Sand Shade)?
As i compared the Harbringer Shroud and regular Death Shroud, harbringer is actual DPS-Loss with the advantage of:
- less lifeforce cost
- Boon removal
- 2 Big Shrouds at start and detonation instead of 1 big shroud at start
but then again, the Barrier on Sand Shade and increased DMG on regular Shroud seems like the better option or am i missing somethink?

Back 2 patches ago, when they improved the facets, he said he'll do a hybrid comp stream ,while being on herald ;p
as a necro main since 2012, i really appreciate this video as a whole and "the reputation of necromancer is at stake here" :D
Ideas on if this can work in WvW, swapping condi dmg for power dmg? A more support oriented Scourge, at least for small scale.
Although I can see plaguedoctor being a superior option.
Just a heads up on the Tormenting runes atm they sell for 9g or you can make them for 6-7g each depending how much of the mats you already have, the watchwork sprockets things being the most costly :)
February 28, 2022 End of Dragons release:
The 6-piece bonus of this rune no longer heals you for each stack of torment you apply. Instead, it grants regeneration for 3 seconds when you apply torment to an enemy, with a 5-second internal cooldown.
This works for me. I'm still getting used to targetting the F# keys to targets instead of plopping them down on me. How do I "send" the shades to the targets without it self-targeting? Hopefully this makes sense

How do the traits differ from group play vs solo open world play? I also don't understand how the Harbinger Shroud transfers conditions for the enemy?
Have u tried full celestial vs. plague? How does it compare? Seems like my play style has been leaning a lot towards celestial on just about all my chars, lol.
Please dont play celestial on raids
It has too much useless stats
And if your tank has only 1005 thoughnsss you ll steal the aggro lol
I have two questions regarding the build. My teammate wants to use this as a kiter on Dhuum CM to help push damage as we are getting to around 45% by the third greater and he feels we should be closer to 25%. He's currently been using the marshal variant of heal scourge, and he never dies.
1. What utility skills would you recommend for that encounter?
2. He also wants to keep staff instead of warhorn because he thinks it'll be easier to tag the messengers. Is this an ok replacement?

Role compression hype. Makes me wonder what an EoD necro would bring.

In all seriousness, an elaboration on blood magic and death magic in the way scourge is an elaboration on blood magic and curses, and reaper is an elaboration on soul reaping and death magic could be really cool, I think. I am hoping for mainhand sword, at least, weapon wise.
@@GeneralAblon what about reviving mobs ? like you can go to some areas and get a type of mob to be your minion and you can summon that mob again when they die
@@katheryn6748 if you saw the teaser, you would know EoD necro elite spec is likely a plaguedoctor with pistol.
Right now I'm playing a reaper. I want to try scourge, but need to make money to buy proper runes and sigils. I will def try out this build when I am properly geared.

Just discovered your channel , as i re-install gw2 after many years away . Im to start a fresh . What gear do i look to use as i make my way to max level ( if i recall they name them a certain way to make it easier to choose what to loot/choose like berskerker etc)

Hey, i love this build!! But is there a reason why i cant run with a staff instead of warhorn?
I wanted to play the Plaguedoctor myself a few weeks ago. But the whole gearset + weapons cost about 200g in the trading post :(
wanna ask with most of the comment in any forum will suggest to run Viper set for high level content for better DPS. but i see the condi dmg stat is the same vs plague doctor's. however viper have expertise which is better vs precision.
i dont know about power but i believe most of the scourge i use is condi dmg skills.
so is this build can keep up with the expectations of the said Viper's better dps?
#edit: currently i'm using this build. but for accessories and trinkets, everytime i get new ascended set, i was always thinking is it better to mix so that the armor and weap set using PD and trikets, backpacks using viper?

I know this is a month old but I hope someone can answer. What setting is that to see personal aoe? Teapot, I see your scourge has a yellow aoe around it when it casts it's shroud. Is that a setting to turn on in options?
That's just how harbinger shroud looks like. It's a trait that changes how your shroud behaves.

Planning to use this for fractals with my friends and wvw, thoughts on celestial? Great guide!
Cele for fractals would actually be better because you won't steal aggro from bosses (cele is more damage) but in raids it'll be annoying because you don't want to tank on this build.
Time to upgrade my plaguedoctor to v2 :D
Perhaps a stupid question but I really like the idea of this build. Since I don’t have other classes geared for fractals raids strikes and soloing champions, this seems like a great candidate for everything. Am I better of using my ascended for Plague doctor scourge or keeping that on reaper for fractals and using exotic plague doctor for the rest? If plaguedoctor can also solo well, it just seems this is the way to go since I pug all the time and thus the pick up / carry potential is that much more useful I guess :)
this is a good solo build with tormenting runes you'll be able to handle more or less anything in the open world with it! If you want a very general build for everything though I'd probably say start off with regular condi scourge or power reaper and then grab this next!

Eh, if youre stuck with exotics, just get shaman trinkets. Way cheaper for a bit of dps setback
Was looking for a good necro build that wasn't standard power reaper or condi harbinger. Lots of people only seem to want a scourge healer these days so this is a good step to something that will work in open world and instanced content. My only worry is there's a ton of skill gap to playing this build the way you intend it to be played. Picking the right times to support and DPS instead of just focusing on 1. It's also a bit scary if you go too hard into DPS as you inflict a ton of damage on yourself.
The title feels like a call back to the Plague Doctor card in Hearthstone. Maybe it's just me

is there a way to make "plaguedoctor tempest"? would be awesome to do damage, heal and be a bit beefy as a tempest
Actually yes, condi tempest is a great damage dealer and automatically brings boons and healing thanks to overloads, aura traits and warhorn! So plaguedoc can be pretty potent on a build like that!

I haven’t played GW2 since that desert expansion. What would I be coming back to today? Something about this class and build sounds like my favorite class ever, even though I’ve never been drawn to casters.

*An update in early September 2022* - I've been playing a sisterly similar build to the one in this video, a celestial setup with runes of divinity, sigils of demons/transference, desert empowerment in place of herald of sorrow, some exotic gear to mix with ascended, exotic food, without utility crystal nor infusions, and a staff on the second weapon set.
The build easily benches *18k* on golem, with a tad of minmaxing here and there you certainly ought break *21k* had you went with proper upgrades.
TLDR; Run celestial in place of plaguedoctor, the build works perfectly fine in OW and instanced content alike~

if you wanted to take a more offensive approach, could you substitute blood magic for soul reaping?
If you do that then just play FULL DPS VIPER SCOURGE!

Wouldn't Desert Empowerment overall be more barrier for the group than harbinger?
You can't get as much value out of it because you'll be spamming shades pretty hard for output, harbinger also has a pretty nifty healing power scale!
So any bets on when Scourge gets hit with a nerf gatling cannon?

Would you recommend this build to a newer player? It seems you need knockledge of the bosses and your own skills rather well, to keep your team alive.
This is definitely an advanced build and it can be a bit tricky to get value out of! For a newer player try regular condi scourge!
How do you find groups that are looking for scourge ? It seems it’s never really specifically wanted. And for most pugs your expected to be one of the roles the commander lists, support scourge is almost never on that list.

Hello T, I recently decided to come back to the game after long time... I've always had this build in mind, but I'm finally going to try it. My question is, whether the build is 100% viable or if there are some changes. ;) I am not neccessarily aiming for DPS, but self sustain too
