Well you are right Muk, Scourge is straight forward and you have alot of options but to have maximum utility slots available, I go Staff with Dagger/Torch for CC because Soul Marks gives you more than enough life force spamming Staff 2+3 off CD for Regen and conditions, allowing you to free up Signet of Undeath in organised or experienced groups. Staff 4 also acts as a blast finisher for your Well of Blood which is a light field for even more condi cleanse or a water field blast that your team put down for healing. I DO agree that Desiccate is kinda mandatory for Fury uptime unless you pair with a qdps that hands it out for free.
As Noxi said: Abrasive Grit - what you take in the first trait column - that cleanses 1 condi every time you hit someone with barrier: summoning a sand shade (F1), Sand Cascade (F3), and Sandstorm Shroud (F5 with the 3rd trait in 2nd column) all apply barrier and Sandstorm Shroud applies barrier 3 times before it explodes for a 4th barrier application. Combined with Nefarious Favour (F2) which converts condis to boons on 3 people per shade, you have a ton of built in Condi cleanse before you get to utility skills.
Freeing up utility slots is great for Scourge because of the powerful skills it has, not as great as FB or Chrono but still plentiful to tailor your bar for the encounter. Spectral grasp for when you need to CC Samrog among other break bars, Well of Corruption for pulsing boon corrupt, Well of Power for maximum condi cleanse (remember each application of barrier cleanses condis - for this reason i sometimes swap Blood Well for Sand Flare), Corrupt Boon for supreme boon removal great for fractals, poison cloud for Projectile block, Spectral walk for being in 2 places at once (think any mechanic that you need to run circles out [Cerus]), Bone Fiend's activate is an immobilize great in many places (like CCing Samrog or Gorsival spirits) and the supreme CC Flesh Golem for when you need to CC Samrog because your party doesn't know what CC is or Ghastly Breach for more Boon corrupt. Scourge benefits from encounter knowledge.
You have some flex in relic too: Mercy for hard PUG carries, Monk for max effective healing out put or like you said Febe for swiftness but that needs you to use Well of Blood for non-revive reasons which doesnt work in PUG settings (but is apart of the rotation on Boneskinner :P).
I do enjoy it as low-effort healer that's pretty comfy. Overall a GREAT PUG healer and if you become confident with it you should be confident to throw a group up in LFG and carry those nerds to victory whether they want to or not.

  • @echostorm5701
    @echostorm5701 9 месяцев назад +4

Heal Alac Scourge is the build that made me love healing. I do use dagger / war horn -- pistol / torch.
So like you said, dagger is great for keeping your lifeforce up but dagger 2 is also great for keeping you alive when everything is going to shit. Like in Matthias when you suddenly take a ton of damage hitting 2 will stabilize you while you rez friends or get out of the rain or running mans path.
Dagger 3 is not only an awesome boonstrip but it's a really long immobilize that comes in super handy for Gorseval and keeping Riggum in place in samarog.
So why War Horn? Well WH 4 is both a soft CC and a huge life force bump at 15% whereas Torch 4 is only 5% and nothing else. imho already worth it. Then you have WH5, it sucks that the Swiftness is only personal but the duration is so long it's permanent and while it sucks for your party, a mobile healer is better than a sluggy healer when it comes to getting to downed friends or away from danger. Also it gives a decent amount of healing to your group. It isn't a lot but it is enough to keep people topped off and it gives a little bit of life force when it hits. Torch 5 gives a little might but frankly you don't need it. I can keep my peeps at 25 easily without it. With all that together if you need to drop Signet of Undeath for Well of Power (Which really shines in Slothasar to cure the shakes and or break out of fear) it won't matter because you're getting tons of lifeforce from your weapons.
I keep pistol / torch for ranged needs and for when we need the extra CC from pistol 3 and torch 5 but frankly I don't use them very often, mainly just keeping people alive during Matthias and Samarog sacrifice phase.
I've gotten some shit for it but I felt vindicated when I saw Teapot rocking the Dagger / WH combo when they were trying to do the new CM last week.

Thx Muk for showing us the way ❤
    Really enjoying the series!!
    A few remarks if I may 😊
First of all i agree with your traits. I have only one other - I prefer unyielding blast instead of soul marks. I just find staff redundant but if staff is used its a fair take (but you still said you did not need to switch to staff at all which I understand)
While groups can reach 25 vuln stacks quite easily its never bad to have a bit of overcapping on that condi
In my opinion 2 things should be noted further and they are connected to each other so stick with me.
There is a LOT of freedom with relics. Healing effectiveness is not that impactful with scourge, so its perfectly viable to run a lot of other relics.
My main preference is lyhr. More about that later….
Other good options are antitoxin (for massive condi cleanse), mercy (for faster and better revives), citadel (for even stronger flesh golem CCs), febe (for perma swiftness on your group), midnight king (if you need another scource of fury and might - more to that later), dwayna (for stronger regen & sustain), speed (if you need to run mechanics and scourge portal alone is not enough), herald (if you run more minstreal and need more boon duration) or of course monk (for 10% heal. Eff. To others)
We can see that that opens up a LOT of options and should be switched according to the situation.
Because i like to run Lyhr (just a few words to that relic…i love it on scourge while fearing it on other healers - to get transferred 50% of all strike dmg to you from 5 targets can get you killed very easily. Therefore you must not only be tanky but also have massive sustain. Hsc has BOTH, but it depends on the weapon! Scourge has massive barrier and constantly cleanses conditions. If your subgroup receives even less strike dmg they are literally unkillable which makes scourge and even more massive beginner group carrier) i like to run dagger + warhorn & torch. Dagger is always in my main hand
This playstyle require more than just pure life force generation…
It needs the sustain from 3+2 dagger which heals you massively. That together with full giver (2380 toughness) makes you survive lyhr relic on boneskinner which is one of the worst single peaks of strike dmg possible! The range of the 2 & 3 are 600 btw so there is no excuse to not press it off cooldown.
Warhorn because the 5 gives you perma swiftness plus a bit of constant additional healing to your group. While the healing on scourge is not weak you only have 3 scources…healing well (which should be held back as an emergency heal/rez tool), f5 aftercast (life from death trait) and f4 (but often should also be used sparingly to have transfusion ready when needed). The 4 is also a nice cc while the torch 5 is another cc and helps massively with might uptime (4 is useless).
For me serpent siphon is a skill which is used off cooldown because of regen uptime. Just press it not right away together with f3 and f5 to not overcap the barrier. If aegis is needed that is something different altogether of course!
Desiccate is the flex slot in my opinion. Desiccate should only be taken if your group has not enough might and fury providers (most dps give both boons nearly all the time anyway). Its just necessary to know other builds/classes a bit better to know that. Especially with qdps herald you are pretty much free to ignore that. So other skills should be used as needed:
    Scourge portal for obvious reasons
CPC for projectile block (adina or sabhir)
Corrupt boon for getting those pesky boons off from the bosses (vale guardian or twin largos)
Flesh worm (whisper of jormag or dhuum (especially CM))
    Spectral grasp for more cc
Spectral walk for a bit of mobility and personal port
Trail of anguish in the worst, worst case of having to provide stab
And if you need to have f.e. Sand swell and the group is lacking fury? Take relic of the midnight king as stated above. You have that freedom 😊
All in all scourge is a wonderful healer that is a lot of fun. It can especially hardcarry nearly every group!!
Just hope they would either rework trail of anguish or well of power into good stab providers
And i do not agree with Muk here…he should have decent stab access. All healers should. And one stack of aegis to be able to handle all fights.
He does not need like 10 skills but either one of them like 3 stacks for 10 seconds (with 100% boon uptime) is more than enough on like a 30sec cooldown. And that is not that crippling for other builds. Hfb will always be better with stab but to have a skill providing stability and just be bad at it is not very good for a build ^^

There is one fight where the trail stab is enough: KO CM. if you run across the front of Li, the people that have to go out will have to go through the trail and they will receive stab. Alternatively you can activate it before moving to Li after the dash and people are likely to follow behind you. (Also as a bonus, it is one of the few remaining 10 target skills) Outside of KO it's very hard to give stab with it.
It does have another use as a personal stunbreak on 25s cooldown. Can be useful for example when learning to tank wyverns in w6.

It's not something to be concerned about.

I don't bring signet of undeath, if you have the trait that gives life force for fears use f4 frequently and have a WH for extra fear you really shouldn't run out of life force ever.
The trail is decent for swiftness, although the stab is only useful in a few situations.
Having the long range rez is pretty nice, but its cast time is rough and if someone dies too far for me to drop well heal or pull, thats probably my fault. Example : matthias mechanics, when i see someone looking for the well, i throw heal skill and shades in their path to remove damaging condis snd keep them alive.
Sand trail is the skill that i swap out if i need grasp, cpc, or something else for niche scenerios, i prefer to have a herald as boondps on fights that require lots of stab

So, some additional notes. Qherald is your best friend on this build. It coveres everything you cant. Party swiftness, fury, might, stability, and cc. If you have a herald you can drop Desiccate completely and take something else like Spectral Grasp or CPC. Also, correct me if im wrong, but doesn't one of the wells give group stab? Or is that just self stab?
The flesh golem despawning thing is a transformation bug. When you get frozen you go into a special transformation state and it despawns the golem. It screws with other things too like virt blades or any shades you have down. Its a real pita.

During the charge, Flesh Golem deals 150 defiance damage per hit. Depending on enemy's hitbox and positioning, it may land two to five hits on a single activation. Because the Flesh Golem strikes at least twice on the shortest hitbox size, it will at the very least deal 300 defiance damage. It can occasionally hit five times in a single cast, dealing 750 defiance damage to a target as large as Samarog.

Call me crazy but with signet of undeath and eternal life, aren’t you overdoing it on life force.
You stated earlier that with the lesser well of blood trait, Transfusion, and Well of blood you can get someone up fast.
Is signet of undeath truly necessary?
I fully agree with you on how annoying Trail of Anguish is to use. At the same time it affects 10 targets, provides does Burning, and is a Stun Break.
Having a Stun Break to use in the event that you loose your member providing stability keeps you in the game long enough to revive them.

Don't forget about SWORD 1 auto gives you self healing & SWORD 3 where it can give YOU a fat self heal if you're in trouble and everything is on cooldown. It's potentially larger of a heal than Dagger MH 3+2.

Naw, healbinger's not a thing because it's bugged in a build-destroying way. When you leave shroud, your main healing ability (Transfusion) switches off and all remaining ticks immediately cease. It could be --great-- an alrightish healer if it just didn't have that one crippling bug, but it's been reported and known about for years and they still haven't fixed it, so I wouldn't get your hopes up any time soon.

I might be in the minority here, but the trail works fine for stability application IMO. Assuming your squad is stacked on top of each other (which is the case like 99% of the time you need stability), you only need to cast the trail where you're all standing, shimmy a bit, and they will get stab. They don't even need to move. Yes, it's a bit jank, but it does solve the swiftness and stability issues you're having. If the party didn't get stab, it's because either the scourge was standing in the wrong place or the party was. If the group is semi decent, you can event drop the signet and run dagger MH instead if you need to. Also Heal Harbinger whennnnnn

    • @Azrub
      @Azrub 9 месяцев назад +1

Or you are just tanking and you have to face the boss away from the party, or you get penalty stacks for taking steps. Heal scourge stab application is below average, it would just need an AOE application just like other healers (and keep in mind, healers like chrono have 2 instant charges of stab + even more sources of stab/aegis + continuum split) and it would actually be playable in decent groups. In reality, in decent groups if you are using an heal scourge, you are better off with a qdps herald/chrono. Scourge's serpent is fine IMO, but it's still a bit inferior to other healer's aegis as it's not an instant cast.

If you take Speed of Shadows in the 1st tier of soul reaping (instead of soul mark) you can basically get relic of febe on your shroud skill, which can allow you to put relic of centaur for stability on your heal. it's at least useable for battles where you don't need Aegis, and can use Serpent Siphon for the regen?
Edit: the need to be useful outweighed the testing... those are indeed only for Self, as @Alphenis points out. apologies.

I'll still salty they nerfed the rez ability capability of the scourge. It was practically the only healer that was played despite not providing key boon (alac or quick).

    • @Mannetasi
      @Mannetasi 8 месяцев назад

I think it's better nowdays than before since you still have the carry potential but your still a valuable healer to experienced groups, every Temple of Febe Legendary CM video that i'v seen has at least 1 Healscourge.
Before it got Alac i remember many experienced people almost looked down upon Healscourge since the only thing it did was barrier and rez people quickly.
The boons it gave was very shitty so if many people didn't need to be revived you didn't give much to the group(unless you were doing a Plaguedoctor Scourge or something).
But to each his/her own i guess.

100% on dodging beneficial circles. Especially in WvW where the same circle will have different effects for allies and enemies, and you can't tell which zerg laid it down. Super hate that.

    • @Creativesucks

I think in those situations the floaty ring around the circle should be the color of the team/server that put it there and make it, say, 5 pixels thicker for visibility. Then the circle itself should be red if it's hostile to you and green if its beneficial.

I found better (in almost all scenarios) going full celestial / (or a couple of pieces Plaguedoctor).
Signet of Undead is NEVER required on this healer build, you have LF for all u need always. Better should run the "poo poo" trail.. so try to manage better ur LF (NO NEED to spam all).
Swiftness, Stun break, Stab on demand (with a couple of feet movement all the ppl get covered lol).
Warhorn in 2nd weapon set is better to carry more CC and LF regen.
Dont Spam NEVER all the shades skills, Just Spam F5-F3, look for a good spot for F1... F2 just when need Condi Cleanse.... and F4 JUST when u need rezz downed ppl or when ur group lack CC.
And finally: Scpeter > Pistol > Dagger > Sword. (Others weapons options dont exist)
    Greetings Muk!

So you just have less life force generation and less boonstrip than dagger, less heal and less cc than a wh, you play staff for no reason (you don't even swap on it on the whole video) and you don't even play stab on the showed gameplay. This is what I call peak gaming 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

    • @MuklukYoutube
      @MuklukYoutube  9 месяцев назад +2

Sword has nearly the same life force generation as dagger (I could spam all shroud skills on cooldown), both have a boon rip skill (sword 3 corrupts 2 boons, dagger 3 corrupts 3 boons), same heal, more than enough cc but you can run warhorn in either weapon set if you want it, and as far as the "play stab" comment I'm not even sure what you are referring to there.
