    I've sworn by Scrapper for years. I'm so glad these buffs have attracted more attention to the Specialization and it's getting more love. This is the most fun I've had playing a class in an MMO since TBC Shaman in WoW.

    Aw man, my engineer is one of my parked characters because I've never found a satisfying build that wasn't kit-spam. You're gonna make me have to find another character to plant at the eternal ice chests now.

    • @JamzP14
      @JamzP14 3 года назад +1

      You can run a "kitless" Holosmith build and do just fine in most PvE scenarios. (Probably the only places I run grenade kit are on things like Whisper of Jormag where I NEED range options, but I don't need as much CC.)
      It's about a 10% DPS loss (in theory), but if you're like me and you hate grenade kit, it's not much DPS difference.

    Oh wow. I gave up on Scrapper years ago after it didn't seem like ANet knew what the fuck they wanted to do with it. Really just wanted a solid DPSing class that uses Hammer and after multiple years this seems like it. Happy to see all these changes. I might get back into it.

      I'd say it's one of the harder classes to be good at in pvp. I'm not saying it's bad, engineer is seen in almost all tournaments lately, though only holosmith because it is more rounded compared to scrapper. It's just way harder to do well as engineer compared to other classes like necromancer or guardian.

    Note that when using this build in non raid/strike/fractal environments when someone is not providing quickness for you, i.e. farming a meta, the quickness variant of this build will do more damage then full dps. only when quickness is applied for you is the dps variant better.

    • @brenobarbosa3489
      @brenobarbosa3489 3 года назад

      I would also like to add that in raid and fractals with no quickness providers, using this in a power build will help everyone hit more and thus make more damage overall even if the scrapper theoretically is dealing slightly less

    Might be a dumb question, but why not rocket turret over rifle?
    It deals 3x more damage for only 2x the fire rate, so it's a 50% dmg increase. It's also an explosion, altho it doesn't count as part of your ability or something(?), because after the overcharged rocket, you don't get any more explosion benefits like the healing or explosive temper stacks (which would be really cool tbh), but it still applies vuln. I know the tool belt ability isn't really good, but turrets last for 5min (unless you have to move more then 1000 units away very often, which some bosses force you to do) and with the 50% more dmg, it should outweigh the dmg lose from the belt.
    I mean the tool belt ability is also an explosion. I know, that it's not like the build doesn't has enough of those, but it still can heal you outside the kits.

    • @MightyTeapot
      @MightyTeapot  3 года назад

      The toolbelt skill is very good for rifle turret it is big damage with no cast time and very short cooldown. It does much more DPS than the turret itself so toolbelt skill >>> actual turret.

    • @Borando96
      @Borando96 3 года назад +1

      @@MightyTeapot Ah I found my mistake. I used the 266DMG from the wiki as the DMG of the tool belt for the build but I had to use the DMG formula Weapon strength * Power * Skill coefficient / 2597
      For anyone who is interested int the maths and actual difference of DMG/s:
      Given:
      - Weapon strength (WS) of a Legi/Ascended Hammer: 1034 - 1166 (The tool tips use the midpoint, so 1100)
      - Power of full Legi/Ascended Gear with Berserker stats: +1381 so 2381
      - Ferocity of full Legi/Ascended Gear with Berserker stats: 961 ca. +64% crit DMG (CDMG), so a total of 214%
      - Rifle Turret shown Damage: 476 (0.75)
      - Rifle Turret Rate of Fire: 2s
      - Surprise Shot Damage coefficiency (CE): (1.0)
      - Surprise Shot CD: 8s
      - Rocket Turret shown Damage: 1429 (2.25)
      - Rocket Turret Rate of Fire: 4s
      I disregard the CD of the Turrets and the 20% combo finisher of the Rifle Turret and the combo finisher of the Surprise Shot
      I'm going to assume that everything that can crit, will always crit, in this case only Surprise Shot, since Turrets can't crit. They also only use the character's attributes for boons and conditions, but since I can't find anywhere the stats of the Turret itself, I'm going to ignore the coefficiency of the turrets and use their shown DMG
      I'm ignoring the overcharge of both since they are just a fraction of the uptime and there isn't even a DMG difference for the Rifle Turret
      Rifle Turret and Surprise Shot DMG/s: (476 DMG / 2s) + (((1100 WS * 2381 P * 1 CE) / 2597) * 2,14 CDMG) / 8s) = 238 DMG/s + 270 DMG/s = 508 DMG/s
      Rocket Turret DMG/S: 1429 DMG / 4s = 357 DMG/S
      508 > 357. Even without crits, it would still deal 364 DMG/s. Altho if you'd add the rocket into the calculation, you would get 446 DMG/s including the 1/2s cast time and without crits and 547 DMG/s with crits, assuming you'd cast it always off CD. But that's probably harder to achive without wasting as much or even more DMG/s as you'd get from doing rocket than just casting Surprise Shot.
      And as MightyTeapot already said, the tool belt skill deals more DMG than the turret itself, altho it's not so much more. Around every 7,5 casts of Surprise Shot (so about every 60s) you'd get the equivalent of 1 turret shot worth of DMG for "free" and only if we assume it crits every time.

    This is a really cohesive breakdown TP! I've not main or really used Engi but, found them really cool due to them being very versatile. I know the range in your build would be using grenades, but would there be another option to use as a ranged weapon as well? or would you just use the grenade for the range and hammer for melee?

    • @MightyTeapot
      @MightyTeapot  3 года назад +1

      Yeah if you want you could drop grenades and take bomb kit, and replace hammer with rifle. This is a weaker variant in terms of damage output but it can work. You'll be doing a lot of bomb autoattacking though hehe.
      Overall though I would recommend staying with the current setup as hammer and grenade kit are very very strong and provide both melee and ranged options alongside a lot of utility.

    @Teapot: Thoughts on Chronomancer runes since the build typically uses 3-ish wells?
    I've been running in my Scrapper and was able to adjust stats with various gear slots as needed. With the extra quickness up time from wells, plus the recent buff to the quickness w/ superspeed trait, I find I don't need any concentration from gear and still have 100% quickness up time.

    • @MightyTeapot
      @MightyTeapot  3 года назад

      Not really that necessary because the rune only gives YOU quickness which you just get from the trait anyway.

    The power scrapper build link has different utilities bar scrapper gyro, is there a reason for this are they better for raid scenarios or something?

    What's a baseline minimum boon duration for the quickness variant, before utility food buffs?

    • @Magdann
      @Magdann 3 года назад

      if you go full diviner trinket/armor, you're almost at +90% (and max is 100%) so don't really bother on the food

    • @MightyTeapot
      @MightyTeapot  3 года назад

      You really don't need that much after the slight buff this got, but I would start out at around 50% and drop it as you get more comfortable/depending on group comp. You can run very low boon duration these days in perfect situations
