test- get going 70mph and do a quick stop. in my old truck the stock brakes would gas and only slow to about 15 from 70 then you were on your own SMASH. scary! added drilled and slotted and stopped on a dime after...
Great brake pad/rotor selection!! Those EBC "YellowStuff" ceramic blend pads have a great reputation for low dust & terrific stopping w/o fade. I went w/Hawk pads/rotors on my PT GT & it was probably the most dramatic, noticeable upgrade to everyday driving I've made to the car besides adding the rear OEM sway bar. Both changes/upgrades just made driving it much more enjoyable. Looking forward to your next mod, keep up the great content 👍
I go fast and brake hard. I have installed Slotted and Cross Drilled with Ceramic Pads. I've put both Canadian Made Rotors and Brake pads from Maxx Brakes on both my Pts. They seem fine for what they are , no complaints but would like to know more about other options available
Drilled no slotted yes! Jimmy, its all about all if the braking components not just one part thats better than the rest. Bigger us better when it comes to brakes the bigger the surface the better the braking the more pistons in the caliper the more pressure applied also stainless steel brake lines from the hard line to the caliper, getting rid of the rubber that expands is better for the pressure applied. Dont rely on your pads solely any car guy who knows brakes I promise u shook his head when u put all your stock in EBC yellow stuff. Great pad its all i use when I race(scca) just keep in mind theres 4 other very important components in your braking system that are just as if not more important than the pads. Good vid dude! God bless brother.
8:04 I think the cracking problems are associated more with drilled rotors instead of slotted. As I understand it, slotted are more for performance daily driver applications and drilled are more common in racing applications. The drilled rotors heat and cool more rapidly and have wildly fluctuating temperatures and that's what leads to the cracks. Slotted have more material and are more consistent in their temperatures so they are less likely to crack. I'm running slotted rotors on Jamie's Tahoe to haul around the kiddos. I don't think she uses them to their full potential, but I don't want her to have any issues with braking. I used Autozone duralast GT rotors and pads on all corners. They're discontinued so I don't know what I'll do about the lifetime warranty. Lol. I think the whole set was around $500. As it turns out, people who shop at Autozone don't typically want to pay big prices for brakes. Unfortunately they weren't very popular. They're pretty good quality rotors. I like the anti-rust black coating and slotted rotors. There's no bare metal except for where the pads touch. With factory 20" wheels, I didn't really want to look at the unsightly rust reflecting everywhere inside my chrome wheels. The black coating is a nice touch. Nobody could probably pinpoint it at first glance, but it does look nicer than the alternative. I never really upgraded brakes when I was younger. I usually focused my limited budget more on the engine. Now my budget has grown a bit so I can have better engine parts and venture out to other areas. I'll need to focus on braking and suspension on my Silverado. Thankfully, it is a 2500 and has oversized heavy duty brakes for towing and hauling so I'm not overwhelming the brake system yet. I do have my eyes on a disc conversion for my rear. I'd like to convert it and get an adjustable proportioning valve to tune it so that the braking is balanced. Currently I have monster drums in the rear with factory rear-only anti-lock. I'm not sure if I can retain the abs with the disc conversion. Regardless, the disc swap seems like a natural progression in modernizing my truck. I've never personally used EBC, but I've always heard good things. I'll have to wait for a follow-up video on their performance and how much dust they generate. I've always bedded in new rotors by doing several hard stops on a clear country road. I'll go from 60-10 pretty aggressively 10-15 times then drive around easy for 20-30 minutes to let them cool back down before parking and letting them cool. I purposely do not come to a complete stop to avoid heat soak in any single area while bedding rotors. Do what you can to avoid parking with super hot brakes. That's a good way to warp even high quality rotors. Keep up the good work. You know I'm already looking forward to the next video. God bless.
For the person that wanted to know how to erase the obdll codes for the O2 sensors get a scanner for OBDll from your favorite store (auto parts)less than $50.00 . The scanner erases codes after they have been fixed.
Hey jimmy have you thought about getting a manual turbo and see just how far you can take it power wise i have both manual and automatic transmission gts and i just wanna see someone take these to the extreme any thoughts?
Drilled and slotted rotors are really only meant for race enviroments not street use, and even then the cost vs reward is very small. Better option is to go larger brake/rotor combos, more surface area means more grip, and this in turn also mean better stopping power. I have seen drilled rotors that fail due to cracks between the drilled holes so I am a bit biased against them, mainly trying to get a car to a shop with only one functioning break is not pleasant or enjoyable.
So happy to learn about cruisers..never had one and do now...I bought a 2008 and I heard they are the worst cars ever..😂 ...so hopefully you will give me more confidence with your videos..there is no manual with the car so any info will help
Good job bro. May paint my calipers next time i do a brake job. who knows. lol. Did you make the music for your intro/outro? I really like it. Wouldn't mind bumpin that in the Escape. lol.
Hey i have a little issue with my pt cruiser touring 07. I change the alternator and everything was fine but now my battery dies even i just turn the radio on before i started. Not even a minute. Do you think my battery is the issue?
At my age I just pay to have it done anymore. Your PT GT keeps on getting better!!
I put slotted rotors on the front of mine and they work really well for a while

Nice...my PT is jealous! 😅

You can clean the 02 sensor with carburator cleaner!
My check engine light is on...is it easy to clean the ,02 sensor
hell yea brother, brakes are the first thing i did on the acura. they are definitely important. 🔥
They sure are!!

16:01 when u successfully got snacks at 2am without making loud noises 😎
HAHAHA
Make sure to clean up the caliper bracket. South Main Auto does an excellent job at brakes he’s a damn good mechanic on RUclips.
Always! I really like Suth Main Auto's channel, they're located not too far away from me too!
I love my PT cruiser 2007 💪🏼It looks like a mobster car I always have heads looking at my car ✌🏼❤️
@ 0.12 “I like these cars for some reason.” That’s how I feel about my neons and now my PTGT I just got lol
Glad I’m not the only one! 😂🙌🏻

Why there's the engine error on? I have something because of the O2 sensors
