One of the best songs I’ve ever listened to, lyrics and music are just perfect. Birch tree is related to Berkana, a viking rune, it honours Odin’s wife Freia, the god of springtime, birth, fertility and regeneration. This song is about childhood, memories, the past, which is followed by a new beginning in the endless cycle of life represented by “a river”. Spiritual evolution for you all lovely Foals fans, peace! ☮️

Here we are in 2023 and this is my summer song. It is a toss up bt this and Kowloon Wake Up.. Both fire and a couple years old. Portugal The Man is the most underrated band of the 21st century but slowly getting the recognition they deserve.

I thought they already made all the perfect music. And here they are with new completely unique music in 2015. Their sound is totally artistic. Foals never failed to impress.

God, everytime I listen to this song I hear another instrument or tune that I never noticed before and I love it so much. Such a relaxing yet uplifting song. Brilliant music by these boys
This song takes me back to a very specific time and place, namely with a "friend" with whom I was very close. We've since grown apart, but the way I felt then comes back to me now as I listen to this. It's bittersweet. Great song, though.

I have depression but it’s an absolutely unique song. Foals is my favorite current band but seeing them live on a psychedelic was one of the greatest nights of my existence. Got to see The Force Awakens at midnight after the show and the rest of history. I need to hear Cafe De Athens and In Degrees live now! Love this. Foals never cease to impress. One of my favourite bands ever, and I think probably the best post 2000 band as well. Love artists like this that keep writing inventive stuff and prove that there's no need to go electronic. Not that I dislike electronic music, infact I love it. Although good ol' alternative rock needs to be preserved. That is all. Okthanksbye

Oh God, i remember when i listened to this song during summer 2018. i just got out of a VERY financially messy situation during my studies it was the time when i stabilized a little bit with a part time job and my university degree was inching closer, when my ex of 4 years ago contacted me (i'm croatian and she was kurdish - i know, a random combination). anyways, i used this song on my earphones to overwrite those HORRIBLE Ed Sheeran songs they ran all the time on radio on my part time work, and this song also reminds me of that summer of hope and anguish in the background. the last summer of magic. ah the YT made mixes...

last summer. last summer was awesome. it was sunny, full of crazy and funny afternoons spend with friends and family. last summer was weird. i felt something changing in my life, yet unknowing what it was. last summer was hell. days spent inside, not being able to stay motivated for anything, not able to be happy, sometimes for days in a row.
