I really like the more ornate design that is on your acoustic, but I do wonder how good this could look if it were duplicated with real inlay, & I thought the tree of life inlay was around before Steve Vai made it popular, though I could be wrong about that.. Great post BTW :D

You know, I’ve had the same thought myself! Compared to real inlays, especially when you look up close, they don’t quite hold up. At a distance, they hold up, and the hummingbird design on my acoustic looks the best by a looooong shot.
You could definitely be right about the tree of life being older than the JEM!

Thanks for making this video I recently bought a tree of life inlay sticker for my peavey tracer (I'm waiting for it to arrive) and I was skeptical if it would hold up I can't believe you've had yours for 10 years

Glad it helped! It’s wild, the one on my acoustic looks brand new (has been on the longest, since 2011!!) but the ones on my electrics definitely show more signs of wear, but they also last shockingly long

@Upside Down Guitar Guy that's nice, is there any ways I could make the stickers last longer or keep them from peeling off?

I'm thinking about adding the tree of life to my electric guitar. But I've got a question, what happens if i want to clean the fretboard? Are they oil resistant?

Good question! They are oil resistant. I’ve used several fret cleaning/fast fret products on my necks over the years and never had a problem

I will be adding the tree of life as well, but I have one question. Does it make the playing even a little bit uncomfortable by adding these stickers?

Great question! It depends on what you mean by uncomfortable. You will definitely feel the stickers and, for some people, that will be slightly uncomfortable. For me, it has never made playing uncomfortable. HOWEVER -- for the first few months, the top plastic layer of the stickers will start to peel off. When they're peeling, you'll want to just take the top plastic layer off entirely, because otherwise it will curl up and be uncomfortable.
I haven't tested this, but I would imagine the stickers wouldn't leave a stain on your neck if you put them on for a day to try it out -- I could be wrong, but I'd be surprised. I'd think you could just wipe off any adhesive that remains. 10 years of the stickers on my old neck meant there was a straight up shadow of the tree of life on my neck when I took it off lol

@@Upside_Down_Guitar_Guy Thanks for the answer! It really helped me. Now I will just wait for the stickers to arrive.
