I get the impression that Spotify tried to not make a 'basic' playlist of all the classics you'd expect, but then chose a bunch of songs without breakdowns
@@theriffdjenerator2213 Airpods Pro 2 and Max do measure up well to some high end phones, and are definitely very impressive for true wireless. Definitely capable of playing Lossless and getting the benefits. Anything other than those two (frankly overpriced, ESPECIALLY max) options and yeah you're right lol
Spotify desperately needs some new talent in their "naming playlists" department. None of these songs really sounded bad to me, though. Brings me back to OG Mechassault. Just a bizarre choice for a name.
hey nik, if you're looking for a new band with breakdowns (or a band that i see get compared to knocked loose a lot) I would heavily recommend listening to mouthbreather. they just recently released a new album called "self-tape" and its pretty damn good. my fav track is ethical hunting. I never really comment to recommend bands but I feel like you would like them plus they are kinda local to me and they deserve more attention.
Just as well you named the specific song, there are about eight bands called mouth breather for some reason, didn’t realise this was the go-to name for a band 😂
Get that not all the songs have breakdowns which is weird for a playlist literally named breakdowns BUT holy shit is that a good playlist so many underrated hardcore bands. Love to see it. And would love to see more
didnt even give scowl a fucking chance bro ... and its my fav song too .... like yeah i wouldve chosen a song off how flowers grow and not psychic dance routine but come onnnn dude nik i believed in you
The playlist is really good, but IMO is very incorrectly named. Hardcore is awesome, but this playlist was always going to piss off Nik’s very metal centric audience by being called “the breakdown”
The day I discovered Scowl was the day I realized that metalcore itself is not a genre, but it's a plethora of dozens of subgeneres combined into one category. I honestly love how so many bands can take other genres, throw screams and heavy riffs in, and totally make it their own and something new. To me, Scowl does that in their entire cassette (yes, cassette). Highly recommend looking more into them if you're interested.
This video is basically nik finding out what modern hardcore is LMFAO imo i honestly enjoy these types of breakdowns more cause they're not overproduced like alot of modern metal is nowadays. Makes it feel more angry and authentic imo
As soon as I saw Scowl on the cover I figured that was what it was going to be. Hardcore breakdowns are just a different type of breakdown (my preferred type I cannot lie) that I didn’t figure would be represented on this channel sadly
god i hate modern hardcore, sounds all the same. i miss the 90s 20s beatdown hardcore bands. shattered realm, bulldoze, billy club sandwich, no retreat, one second thought. so much better than this bullshit
The playlist should be called the Core not the Breakdown because it is essentially what's new and fresh in the Hardcore Scene... and the Core playlist vice versa...
Burst actually has some really sick stuff especially in their albums Lazarus Bird and Origo, but it’s more like Mastodon meets Opeth styled Progressive Metal with some post metal and hardcore influences.
@@eatdaaaa9984 I listen to music for the lyrics mostly. I like the stories that come from the combined minds and souls of bands. Whatever that was didn't come from combined minds or souls. That came straight from their asses lmao
A long time ago there was a RUclips channel called "breakdown of the day" that uploaded daily breakdowns. I found some cool bands from that channel. RIP
i love your videos so much as a Kpop fan. Your Unforgiven cover was slaying and i want more Kpop songs' metal cover. i am sure that you will never break that vibes. Also could you make a reaction video for "LALALALA"s ROCK VERSION from STRAY KIDS????
Gotta defend my boys in bent blue. Song rocks, they have better breakdowns in their discography. I would say commodified existence and influence me have better breakdowns.
Because it is basically a modern Hardcore-Playlist and not a "top 100 hardests breakdowns playlist". So the naming sucks, but the playlist is pretty good for modern hardcore
We need a Breakdown Playlist from nik🤘
Commenting both for the algorithm and hoping that this pushes the comment up more, I'd love to see Nik's take on this!
Yesss! Do it Nik!😤
Yes
Yes
Jaaaaa bitte nik
I get the impression that Spotify tried to not make a 'basic' playlist of all the classics you'd expect, but then chose a bunch of songs without breakdowns
yeah but theres nothing here for me to disrespect my surroundsing to.
it's supposed to be a modern hardcore playlist
@@Fleatoyeah there's nothing here for me to send to the slaughter house either
Bunch of HC bands that dudes will mosh way harder to than dorky Lorna Shore lol
@@f0rsak3n123wow you're so special not liking Lorna Shore
Spotify should make a white noise playlist, because they'd fuck it up and hopefully give us more bangers.
They did.
@@i_want_my_shuggah they made one and fucked it up or they just made one?
They need on for guitars solos
Spotify needs to provide lossless audio. The only streaming provider that lacks it.
This is why I use Apple Music
Agreed, but I still use spotify to discover new music. It's catalog is just too damn big.
Exactly why I use Tidal
@@leddmaskif you're using apple ear phones to listen it won't matter anyway 😂😂

The breakdown in "Endless" by Unearth is a top 5 breakdown of all time. This new era of heavy is ridiculous.
I'm glad someone else feels the same I do about that breakdown
Unearth's breakdowns are top-notch. I always loved the one in Bled Dry.

Ever heard Signs of The Swarm ?
Their new album Amongst the Low and Empty is a DRUMMER ALBUM.

Mouthbreather is so damn underrated
@@Idk_thoo yep so is buttcheeker seeker 😆

I saw scowl in concert last night and the pit was indeed opened

I feel gaslighted and don't really know what a breakdown is anymore
Gaslighted?... I feel so gaslit right now
No, my spelling is definitely the correct one ;)
Same I don’t think I know what a breakdown even is
Nik just thinks breakdowns are chugging 0s
I’ve been into hardcore/punk recently and I really like this playlist
Honestly I really enjoy a lot of them too, but it's definitely not "breakdown" like Spotify says LOL
@@ArensLive "I like this but it's not what I'm looking for" is a good way to summarise a lot of problems with spotify tbh

Lol, what was the careless whisper sample? "It's not the time for that" lol
glad to see YOTK recovering. shit was wild
Goated album bro
If nik made a top 100 playlist, that would be fantastic
9:40 spanish voice never gets old
I love the deadpan humor of your editors.

Shout out to Caleb with the fine editing as always
Scowl is good, im seeing them in december
Scowl became one of my favorite bands. Probably the best show I saw last year. 💚
It’s a hardcore playlist, the genre that started breakdowns. It makes sense
nik nocturnal learns about hardcore the video
expected a metal breakdown and got a mental breakdown. good job spotify
The playlist should be called the Core not the Breakdown because it is essentially what's new and fresh in the Hardcore Scene... and the Core playlist vice versa...
4:35 ish reminds me so much of the Bled - Dale Earnhardts Seatbelt.
Burst actually has some really sick stuff especially in their albums Lazarus Bird and Origo, but it’s more like Mastodon meets Opeth styled Progressive Metal with some post metal and hardcore influences.

I see knocked loose and Nik, I click.
Just had to sit through an ad for the Daily Wire to watch this video. And I feel dumber haven done so.
Soundgarden's Rusty Cage has a breakdown. Change my mind.
nasty have some VERY GOOD breakdowns!
2- Defender - As I Lay Dying
1- Bottom Feeder - Parkway Drive
(?)
Have you seen hardcore punk mosh pits? Fucking terrifying
Have you seen hardcore
It’s a good playlist, but idk why it’s called “The Breakdown”. Like it’s mostly just modern hardcore and punk, not really many breakdowns.
Jesus Piece are SICK.
Jesus Piece dropped one of the best core albums of the year
Edit: Deep in the Willow should be at #2, beaten out only by Everything is Quiet Now
Nik Nik Nik... my friend, It's not about like actual metal breakdowns... it's a playlist obviously meant to cause a mental breakdown.
Almost positive that the picture is scowl... That definitely had breakdowns it's a hardcore playlist
And hardcore pits are definitely wild
Bad Blood is from Chicago my band has played with them a few times. They play alot with Hostages, PiecedUp etc.
the guitarist from Jesus Piece owns the record shop on my street and a video game store and 2 cafes in my town. Good dude. Hates touring.
The only clear solution is for Nik to make all of us a true breakdown playlist
Jesus Piece is fucking sick, how you not know them Mr Noc?!
3:37 «Mid Bizkit» 😭
3:10 "Have one intern....from middle school" 🤣🤣
You should really check out that Jesus Piece album. Pure rage and chonk from start to finish
Jesus piece is incredible!
A long time ago there was a RUclips channel called "breakdown of the day" that uploaded daily breakdowns. I found some cool bands from that channel. RIP
it’s a hardcore playlist.. it’s got breakdowns in the sense of the original stuff, not the demon noises
Yo that One Step Closer album is fantastic tho
Fire video my man! Tbh as a fellow Canadian crab boii i can certify this list as a “safe-pit” breakdown list😂🥲
Keep up the bangers🔥
One Step Closer is a great band, and Scowl has breakdowns
We need more breakdowns……
Sinizter - THE DEPTHS has all the breakdowns you want
That’s Scowl on the cover.
Nik. We need more Paula in these videos.
LOVE Guilt Trip
Spotify NEEDS Nik
I like that is more Hardcore oriented
Surgeon just dropped an EP and it goes hard
I still can't get over the fact that Nik has 101% subscribers.
been loving the content Nik keep it up.
I see you casually skipped over Mindforce
band on the cover is scowl. bad blood is a side band of scott from terror
The Spiritworld guys are pretty awesome. We did a Taco Metal party with them a while back. They got the breakdowns for sure
I saw spirit world live and it was crazy
Did Nik really not know Jesus Piece and Sunami????
nik needs to make "i made a bleed from within song in 30 seconds then full video"
This whole thing was to make you breakdown in tears after listening to it
Apples deathcore essentials playlist murders this

Sorry for my bad English. English is not my main language. It's Turkish.
The year is 2006 and you are angsty. You skip school to buy Bury Your Dead's new one. They kick off the record with House of Straw.
Sunami is fckin great man
skipping show me the body is crazy imagine missing out that hard
Nik, can you check out Severals with their new song Deja vu? they really need some exposure. you'll love the song.
Where domination?
Fuck yes UNITYTX making the cut!
Guilt Trip are insane live
Gotta defend my boys in bent blue. Song rocks, they have better breakdowns in their discography. I would say commodified existence and influence me have better breakdowns.
It's a "hardcore" playlist tho, there's some decent/good bands in but it ain't deathcore or anything
Sunami goes hard asf
Reached the end, is that a Paula cameo??????
hi nik, I recommend you to listen isyana sarasvati - my mystery, there is a breakdown part that is really w0w
Nik, you know what you have to do. Give us what we expected 😂
"open up this avocado pit"
mans slept on Mindforce breakdown but let’s be honest it’s also Slayer
So what we've learnt is that spotify doesn't know what a breakdown is. Also were there really no Slaughter OR Lorna OR FFAA in that entire playlist?
Because it is basically a modern Hardcore-Playlist and not a "top 100 hardests breakdowns playlist". So the naming sucks, but the playlist is pretty good for modern hardcore
OPEN THE PIT OF SADNESS!
Hold on, was that Shawn Spann from Breather on the track Total Domination by Nasty?
I was waiting for knocked loose
Where was the lorna shore
Are we gonna overlook the fact that Nik/Will's Demolisher is #2?
That breakdown is so top tier
Both worthy of note...
Infant Annihilator - Blasphemian
Cattle Decapitation - Forced Gender Reassignment
EDIT: Infant Annihilator - Soil the Stillborn... (stunning lyrics on that one)
Nick do a video of theworstinme it's a band but the song is olso called the worst in me it's a heavy song and it has some heavy breakdowns in it
domain is a local hardcore band to me, those dude have some seriously heavy shit and their live shows are wicked
No "face yourself - grosse bagarre" reaction?
Another I prevail reaction for ya - Bad Things
nik's look of pure sadness this entire video.
Metal breakdown? More like mental breakdown!
