JR, you really get the credit for setting each of these horses up for success when asked to work together. You spent many hours training them individually on the ground. You turned them out together so that they got to one other inside out. You gave them good reason to place their confidence and trust in you. No stone went unturned. You could not have picked more difficult circumstances for a first team drive. The terrain, the snow, the novelty, all of those things would’ve made lesser horsemen afraid to try. It makes me realize that the rest of us don’t ask our horses to do enough. We ride in rings. We worry about what the horses are going do in new situations when in fact we’re worrying about what WE are going to do in new situations. If, if, if. We talk ourselves out of doing difficult things. You would not have been successful had you not prepared both horses thoroughly. But then you went out and did something really difficult and it worked. My hat is off to you.
2 STALLIONS (!) of different breeds driving together for the 1st time thru snow, ice, down branches, creeks ...WOW!!! The trust goes both ways (from them to you & you to them). Those 2 boys are so impressive. Loving their journeys. Can hardly wait to see Oliver & Beauty driving together. 😍❤️
Before the sled run: I LOVED how Lovey-Dovey Champ was with you! What a sweetheart he is! 💕 and how he and Oliver genuinely love each other. So fortunate they found themselves on the same farm.
I really admire JR when you admit you don’t know what you’re doing & still learning which in today’s society is rare but honourable. I am glad when you stick to your guns when you do know what you’re doing. Much respect ❤🇨🇦
Seeing how affectionate they are is a testament to your care. Oliver has been reborn, I hope he has forgotten his previous life. They are both such good boys. 🥰
I don't think Oliver was a year old yet, if I remember correctly. A horse can be easily triggered by bad memories if the same behaviors are shown by the humans. I truly, have total respect for JR, the way he treats his animals, the way he trains etc. The entire herd is fortunate to be right where they are.
Seeing Champ give you a kiss was just so sweet. Looks like you get one heck of a workout too. That ride through the snow looked like such fun. Oliver seemed to want to run today. They look good together. Best of luck as you continue their training. Thanks for sharing.

To see Oliver have patience with anyone at his side is a testiment to his steadfast focus on U, ur voice & even Ur breathing!. Hes so smart !! WoW !! Champ is a learner & quick at it! Well done JR !❤😊
I too was amazed at how well the two horses work together when one of them is a gaited horse and the other a draft. I was so absorbed in this video, that when I turned my head to look outside, I expected to see snow --- I used to live in Montana, but now in Arizona near Phoenix - no snow. 😞😄
To all those people who bash stallions and there owners ...This is absolute proof , you get out what you put in . These 2 are only babies and jr admits hes learning driving . You guys are doing amazing, they are so well behaved for you ❤❤
The scene was beautiful, and something most of us will never experience ! The three of you were a great team! You will only get better from here❣️ If Oliver wasn’t such a steady horse, there could have been real trouble!

I am so impressed with Champ and Oliver working so well together. I know they live together in the pasture which says alot about why they get along so well. People think stallions cannot share living space, but so far so good , huh? Oliver has bred mares, but Champ has not, correct? I wonder if they will continue to be so quiet and chummy as they both mature. As I said, I am impressed.
Wow I can really see how big Oliver is next to Champ! They are both just a joy to watch.. the voice commands are amazing to see how they understand them.. makes me appreciate horses even more!

Until I started watching this channel, I had no idea about the Missouri Fox Trotters. All I can say is, "WOW!"... Champ pulling his share of the load with Oliver, a Clydesdale! That looks like a lot of fun, JR!
AWESOME WORK, JR!!! You are blazing new territory!! Congratulations! What a team! But of course it takes an expert horseman like you to train and drive them!
Very nicely done! I like how polite and patient Oliver was while Champ got the hang of pulling the drag sled together. No nipping, no shoving, just calmly stepped to the side until Champ righted himself. These two are fun to watch. Well done, boys 👏😉
@@homesteadhorsemanshipno such thing as "luck" JR! You're using your God given talents too the fullest with these horses & farm! Keep up the great work!❤🎉
They did so well , first time out and you are so fortunate to have your parents farm to ride or drive thru. That trail was so pretty with the snow and I'm sure it's beautiful in summer too.
JR you are a steady calm handler, your patience is reflected by the horses you train, well done This video was so beautiful, thank you for bringing us along.
I know this video is mostly about the horses, but even I (a person who has no experience with horses) can recognize the amount of training and trust JR has put in with his horses. He trusts his horses and they trust him. Without the training and planning beforehand, there's no way they could've pulled this off. Great job everyone!
Absolutely wonderful to see 2 stallions working so well together At times could almost see Oliver saying to Champ "come on little brother we have got this"
Wow they are really good friends. Oliver was really in his element, seemed to both show and show off all his skills, looked like he was really enjoying having Champ with. Champ listening and following you both extremely well . Quite remarkable JR, you sure have the right to be proud of them.
Wow JR...you made the freezing cold look enjoyable! Beautifully done! Those boys are special horses...both you and them are so fortunate to have each other.😊
One of the reasons I smile every time I see a grown man driving one of those huge pickup trucks today it is because those men loved playing with trucks when they were toys and every grown man needs his “big boy twuck!” 😂❤
Here is a tip for when you're DRIVING two horses side by side (this applies to the roads in America where we travel on the right hand side of the roads): When you are DRIVING your two horse (or more) team you want to put your bigger, taller, heavier horse on your right hand side with your smaller, shorter, lighter horse on your left hand side. The reason for this is that (if you've ever noticed), the roads in America tend to slope downward toward the right hand side (toward where the 'ditch' or 'gutter' runs next to the road). This gives you and your team more PHYSICAL CONTROL over your wagon, buggie, whatever - load you are pulling specifically as this pertains to the overall weight of your load and your bigger, taller, heavier horse (logically that is going to be your stronger horse as well), this horse's height will 'even out' the overall height difference between your two horses side by side traveling these roads in America that slope down toward the right hand side ('gutter side'). This also gives your team the advantage (physically speaking - as in 'physics' the science stuff - over the distribution of the overall weight of your load, your team's height difference is tending to become more 'evened out' this way which also gives your team's strength difference a more 'equal balance' so that they are more effectively 'working together' distributing the height, weight and strength needed to pull your load which lessens the risk of becoming 'off balance' and 'out of control' especially if &/or when an emergency situation occurs (because they always do when you least expect it)! Having your bigger, taller, heavier (and stronger) horse on your right hand side where the road slopes down to the right (toward the ditch or gutter) is the best way to give you and your team the very best advantage over all of those very real 'problem points' that exist because one horse is bigger, taller, heavier, and stronger but now in this configuration, those 'problem points' are greatly minimized and more evenly distributed! Balanced out, if you like. This also applies to when you are trailering your horses! Putting the heavier horse on the right hand side of your trailer and your lighter horse on the left hand side, again because of the way that the roads slope downward toward the gutters or ditches and again if &/or when an emergency situation occurs for example a flat tire (whether on the trailer or truck and literally in any tire position, again due to the slope of the roads) by putting your heaviest horse on the right hand side of your trailer, you are giving yourself the best over all advantage and ability to maintain control of the trailer and truck having the heavier weight on your right hand side especially with a sudden blow out of a tire! And those rude emergencies never check with you first to see if it's a 'good time' for you or not! They are kind of rude and self centered that way, go figure! (Here's a very real but rarely ever thought about fact regarding flat tires. Most of the tire damaging road debris accumulates on the right hand side of the roads and greatly increases the flat tire risk will occur on the right hand side of the vehicle! This is a fact!) I hope this helps you and your horses, in this case OLIVER & CHAMP!! SUCH GOOD BOYS!💜👍🏼💜
@@bh1264 honestly, our roads, especially in rural, wooded areas slope down and up both ways. Oliver being the bigger, stronger, more experienced driving horse would be safer in the middle....cuz if Champ swerves too far to the edge....Oliver would most likely pull him back more center. The best part of that, for me, was when dad came to pick me up to take me back home, they always gave us supper and the talk turned to horses and stayed on every aspect of draft horsemanship until Harry (or whoever I had been working for) started nodding off in his chair. A farmer who starts milking 30 cows at 4:30 a.m. has trouble staying awake very long after supper. I hardly ever spoke when my elders were talking horses I didn’t know anything and I wanted to know what they knew so closed mouth was the best policy. That is one of the most beautiful experiences a person and two horses can do together!

This! I have repeated this about the videos. I tell everyone about this channel. They earn it.
Hi Linnie, I'm just giving you a little help here from a southern gal. Y'all. No W. You left a very sweet comment.
Unbelievably well-trained and trusting horses. This proves that you are correct in your training of your horses. I am glad you don’t pay any attention to naysayers! They are jealous. Keep it up, I have learned so much.
How beautifully the boys worked as a team !! Especially for their first time 🎉❤❤. JR - you’re setting records !!! 😘😘
I'm so impressed with those stallions! There were so many obstacles and hairy situations, and they handled it like pros. Impressed, to say the least. You're doing an amazing job, JR. All 3 of you are green, and in the end, you'll have the best team around! Beautiful scenery, too.
Well done for first time team! And, for Champ being a baby still, or only 2 years old! 🎉 👏 You are off to a GREAT start.
Looked a lot easier then it was provably. Cool to see the two cooperate without problems. Must be trained so well. 👏
You can be very proud with the results of Oliver and Champ as a pair working together. Loved the winter scenery as well. Well done.
The collaboration we’ve all been waiting on!!! Go boys go!!!!!❤❤❤❤
Oh my gosh, you all took my breath away with this video! Thank you so much for taking us along and explaining all of it as you went. Champ, Oliver and Your team work was amazing. I know zero about horses but a little about humans at my age. I kept thinking Champ is going to "get this" because he has Oliver as a role model right beside him and you directiing, teaching them every step of the way! This is what life is really about!
You can tell Oliver and Champ are best buds. Two beautiful horses working together. 😊
Long May it last!
Champ & Oliver are 'brothers from another mother' for sure!
you should try tandem with Oliver in the back and champ up front or vise versa. Great Job Jr. Champ did so well. 🥰
Can’t wait to see Oliver and Beauty as a team😍
Same! And after seeing how she covered ground in that other video when Jr showed her driving, she's going to set the pace for Oliver lol!😅. Our boy better keep up! 😉💪
Thank you so much for this sled ride!!! Wow JR what a great job with these two boys.
I totally believe that praying over each horse as they begin training, or maybe before if it’s in poor health, is what makes the difference 🙏🏻😍❤️
Some of those scenes with the horses, the sled in the beautiful snow would make great photos for selling, auctioning, gifting or whatever. Lovely!!! 😍
I agree with you.
Just so beautiful
This brought tears of joy to see how well they did together under such snowy conditions. My heart is brimming with pride for you and your team! Good job. I can’t wait to see MORE of them together ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Piney looks like she's having the time of her life running ahead of you
I absolutely completely thoroughly enjoyed this video beautiful horses and beautiful scenery.
I absolutely Loved watching the 3 of you working together!! Those boys sure love, trust and respect you, JR! Chammp IS A DREAM!!! What a couple of wonderful boys you have there!!! Sweet and smart!!
That was incredibly awesome!! What a true heart you are JR! I swear Oliver kept looking back at you after an obstacle to make sure you were ok ❤! Loved it!!
What a beautiful pair of lovely natured Stallions. So well looked after too. X ❤
Try old bacon grease in hooves instead of pam. Salt in grease will keep ice from sticking
That was beautiful. Great editing, wonderful horses with expert training.
AMAZING JR!! ❤❤ The boys did great together!! Thanks for the ride along!
YOU ARE NOT STUPID!!!
Just CREATIVE!!
And, clever! 🧠
It was absolutely the sweetest thing Champ giving JR kisses at the 3:40 mark 🥰🫶🏻 Thanks for taking us along on the beautiful ride on the homestead, great job well done Champ & Oliver ❤
Lol about the PAM! I knew a truck driver from Alaska who flew to Seattle to pick up his new Kenworth and he sprayed the truck with PAM before tackling the Al-Can before it was paved (1980's). He said when he got home to Alaska a good hard spray took all the road gunk off😂
Great job. JR, Oliver and Champ!!🎉🎉😮😊❤
Greetings from Denmark. None horsey person, whom just like watching herd behavior, lol. But I stumbled over your channel and has been enjoying your content.😁
Edit: Also if you can give an update on how well Nattie, is adapting to the herd. It would be appreciated as she has become a favourite of mine.
Love seeing this progress! JR, you are doing such an amazing job!
Awesome video. I love Clydesdales but I love getting know Champ. Champ and Oliver have their hooves around my ❤️. So beautiful. Sending prayers, love and hugs.
This was so magical to watch!! Thank you for sharing!! Can’t wait to see all you accomplish with both stallions :)❤❤ Happy New Year.
The two are doing good. You can see they love each other, and they love you.😊❤
Smart idea to switch the workouts, e.g. with Oliver on the left and Champ on the right then TO Champ on the left and Oliver on the right.
Champ walks as fast as Oliver is trotting 😮
True. Some people can’t see it though several comments saying he can’t lee up because of the size difference
I’ve never commented before, as I am not a horse person. I just love horses and learning about them. Those are the sweetest boys! Both have such a sweet spirit and you can tell how much they love you. Amazing!! I enjoy your channel. 💜🩷💜🩷
We are glad you enjoy the channel!
