I had a farm vet in southern Illinois and went to him for 40 years. So many friends didn't care for him because he was usually honest when it came to quality of life for animals. I trusted him because he was not in it for the money. When he is retired, the whole area will suffer without another farm vet stepping in. I have watched HPHS for several years now and am so impressed with how all the vets have handled these animals. You two ladies make a great team and I hope you can ignore any and all 'haters' because there are thousands out here who send you love and compassion.
Dr Lydia hit the nail on the head! I'm in the UK and my cousin has worked in a small animal rescue for 15+ years. The rescue compassion burnout is so hard and so real! It's rare they ever get neglected animals in to be rehomed but to see dozens of animals homeless is beyond hard. Professor Noel Fitzpatrick here in the UK is known as the supervet. He's a pioneer in orthopaedic veterinary surgery. His major thing is the ethical quality of life of the animal undergoing huge life saving procedures with immense recovery etc. That's the major thing to remember when making comments. People just don't consider what toll it all takes on the people who do this
I so appreciate, Dr. Lydia and Dr. Gina. They have to make some tough decisions because of the fact that the horses they see come from the absolute worst circumstances! It will get better the more the Full Circle of Life shelters get noted on RUclips! Share every video!
Thank Dr. Ludia for her honesty and for being open about just how tough it is to not only be a large animal Vet, but one (or two) who concentrate their practice on rescue. Please let her and Dr. Gina know that those armchair non-vets are best ignored. I know from watching HP that Drs. Gina and Lydia not only consult with each other but with a whole network of others before the make a call on any horse that is borderline between fight for them or give them the LAOK. When talking about the pay versus how much Vet education costs most people have ZERO idea of just how much becoming a Practicing Veterinarian costs not just in dollars but TIME.
It's so not true that "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me." The Bible tells us that "the power of life and death is in the tongue...." This is a VERY powerful statement and people would be well to heed it. Unfortunately, we seem to increasingly live in a very hateful world. Everyone may have their supporters, but it seems that everyone also has haters on YT regardless of the subject matter of the channel. I have been so impressed with everyone at Horse Plus and my heart goes out to you for what you do.
You two Vets do a wonderful job. I know it's not perfect because you are not working with horses belonging to rich horse owners, but you are working for a humane result for these poor horses that someone threw away.
Dr. Lydia, I love your personality. I understand the hardship you go through. You have kids and a full-time job. I know it is difficult. Tell Dr. Gina hello!
We appreciate the vet staff so much at horse plus! I stand behind every decision yall make because it’s very obvious yall care about each and every animal there. It should be said more! But you’re right if people are happy usually there is no positive feedback but haters are ready to bash immediately. I hate that that is the sad reality. But do know you are appreciated and loved and more people should express that!!
Dr. Lydia you are Beautiful and very intelligent you are a born Leader… You are right about the critical, People . Thank You so much for always using universal precautions.❤

You both are amazing. Winter is challenging. It's hard enough to just get the horses through when they are healthy. Fabulous work as always. Thank you for the update.
I can tell that you love to teach! I love watching your reaction when you see something on an x-ray and you want everyone to see it and teach them about what you are seeing! You are so honest and explain things so well about your struggles and passions it is such an eye opener! Keep being you!!! Dr. Gina is great too and your personalities are such a good fit fit Horse Plus.
My daughter is very scientific minded and chose not to do vet training because in her 11 yr old mind that despite she loves the science and animals but wouldn't be able to do the hard things on a long term basis. Those are her words, so even a 11 yr old sees that. ❤ and don't forget we don't feed the trolls!
Good for you Dr. Lydia. I think home schooling great to meet all the educational needs of your children. We completely understand . Please all stay safe with this cold weather.❤ ❤
A quiet watcher who wants to pop up and say I appreciate all your hard work and the difficult decisions you have to make for some of these unfortunate animals. Thank you, take a deep breath, and know many watchers feel as I do, and try not to let the haters get to you. Aloha 🌺
I didn't know I was one of your owners. I am very happy with the job you do. And I am very aware what a hard call it is. Vets take longer to train than doctors and we do appreciate you.❤
Thank you Dr. Lydia and Dr. Gina for this!! It was very intense but informative. God bless both of you!! I have a niece going to school for Vet training up in Idaho; hope she can stick it out.
Like the saying goes, no hoof - no horse! You need to take very good care of the things that hold you up! Your mental/physical health, your family and your teammates! You are all an amazing bunch of humans and how you lean on each other for support is just a beautiful thing! Don’t listen to the haters..they couldn’t do what you all do every single day!
Yay for Glinda and Paolo! I know you will both be loved and will thrive with your new family! Thank you Drs Gina and Lydia for your love, dedication , and care you give all the animals. Don’t listen to the haters.
I know what you are saying as I was in nursing for 40 years. Unless you have done this work caring for anyone and all animals, you don't get it. It's so hard to not worry and work over everything you do. God bless you and I know you are blessed.
All these things are true for all health care providers! I'm a prehospital emergency medical health care provider, and we all experience these things, and that's why we need each other ! I'm so thankful for you all!❤ together, we are strong 💪 ❤️ !
Very short on large animal vets! I'm in a number of goat groups along with equine groups and I the best advice I give them when they are thinking about getting a large animal or just a livestock animal is to check to make sure you have a vet because they are far and few between! Again God Bless you all at Horse Plus Humane Society! ❤
I think all of you are amazing! I have learned so much from your videos. I hope for the future the system changes for vets and other specialists. There are the same problems in the U.K. too. Sending you all hugs 🥰
Doctor Lydia, you're the reasons I watch! Both you and Doctor Gina are the absolute best! I total get the extended suffering, I am of the mind set do it on a good day. I took care of a older horse for my friend who is working in Switzerland for almost 3 years. At 33 he was ready to go. It was so sad for his vet (and myself) who had cared for him for 16 years. My vets are definitely my hero's. Although Doctor Davis has made me cry on more than one occasion. 😂 My friend's (the one is Switzerland) daughter is actually in vet school in Tennessee. I keep telling her she should see if she can do her internship with you guys.
My sister is very critical of vets, she thinks they'over charge and recommend 'unnecessary' services like subcutaneous fluids. It's possible that the private equity practices might push for things that aren't harmful to the pet but aren't necessary for diagnosis, just another revenue generator. During covid, Imy bedridden Mom 's cat needed 7 teeth pulled. I had to take one of my cats to a different vet, he needed 7 teeth pulled. I didn't use my Mom's vet because of the wait. I paid 3x for my cat than what I paid for my Mom"s cat: the only discernable difference was one was a private equity practice and the other wasn't. I'm thankful for organizations like this one that do their best for animals in dire need.
I find you amazing, your a great speaker,I am so glad you talk about health, suicide etc.I watch you from canada.ignore the haters it's ok for them their sitting on the coach.hugs.
Dr. Lydia, who am I to question the wisdom of you and Dr. Gina. I see what I see but not as a doctor. I see short little clips. I am going to add you and Dr. Gina to my prayer list, that the Lord Jesus keep you strong, give you what you need to do your work and to give you peace.
connections academy i lovedddd as a kid! you have teachers you meet with once a week and still get to meet kids and get to choose your classes! Lessons are simple and you always have help when you need it! And if you need computers they provide them for you!
Some people need to realize that most things are not as simple as they appear and consider the fact of the professional training allows for the best decisions in each scenario. Please do not Monday-morning quarterback the vets' decisions!
I do so appreciate Dr Lydia and Dr Gina and everyone involved in making the really hard life decisions for these animals. Just from making these types of decisions for my own animals, l cannot imagine going down their road. You are appreciated. So happy for two adoptions today!!❤❤
3:03 pod learning, it’s when you have more than 2/3 families where the parents take over teacher duties. Just check it out, it helps families get days to do errands without kids,or work ?
WOW thank you for that cold hard truth!!! I love hearing about your job. WOW a Mom that is a Mom and a wife and how important that is to her. So wonderful. So great to hear how Horse Plus helped Tara. I hope it works out that you can get more ladies to help you! Where are the horse gentlers?
Interesting burn out discussion. Used to be dental healthcare that were the most likely. Crazy but i get it. You often have 2 clients, the animal and owner. That's so much to answer to and for. ❤
We love you guys. I worry all the time about the vets I see on RUclips. Several vets in our area have committed suicide so it is constantly on my mind. I used to want to be a vet but I worked as a keeper in college and went through losing several animals I was caring for and realized I couldn’t handle the stress.
Life is full of twists and turns..keeps it interesting to say the least. Good luck Dr Lydia on the new schedule..you definitely have the organizational skills to balance it all :) High school math is noone's thing..lol
It’s helpful to have perspective about the healthcare profession, in general and veterinary medicine in particular. Time for clients to start having perspective if they really want to make sure professionals will be there for their animals. It’s great to love animals. At the same time we need to respect reality. Wisdom with compassion, always.
Dr Gina and Dr Lydia are the best. They work so good togheter and things are going the right way. Im so happy you both are at HPHS. I hope you never leave. Who is this new cameraguy? He is realy good filming and talk to adopters and others. Glad he is whit you. Snowie greetings from Norway.
I know homeschooling is a very big responsibility, have the older kids help younger ones. Maybe break up the day some . Lots of field trips. Love both doc at horse plus, your absolutely the best vets they have had . Besides Doc!!!
Before you type anything, remember: Is it kind, is it necessary, is it true? Thank you for all the hard (and heart breaking) work dr Lydia and dr Gina do (and the rest of the team too). Its definitely not an easy job 🥰
Dr Lydia and Dr. Gina you are doing a fantastic job, don't let anybody tell you different, sometimes you can't fix all the horses is because the people abused and neglected the horses real bad so you have to make the last call for some of these horses and it isn't your fault, so ignore the insults from people with negative comments. If these people want to blame people it's the people that owned the horses, they should have taken better care of their animals Amen.
16:21 Agreed that the large animal and equine community desperately needs vets. It seems like the operational difficulty of large-animal Veterinary practice is splitting time between office practice and farm calls. That doesn't even address the emotional challenge of fixing an animal's problems that get beyond a manageable stage. It's a tough, tough profession. ❤❤ To both Dr. Lydia and Dr. Gina for the tough fight and the hard calls when it's time to give an animal peaceful, eternal rest.
I home schooled my 5 children. ABeka books are good, as well as other school correspondance courses. I did have to put my kids into high school or community college later onbecause of my poor health. They all have degrees now
I put my greyhounds first as long as they are happy and healthy with a good quality of life thenI will do everything in my power to help them if their quality of life can be maintained if it can´t then its far kinder to have them gently put to sleep their quality of life must always come before my own desire to keep them longer than they should be kept I love them deeply but love is never selfish and therefore even though its hard to make that decicion I will do it for them not for myself though it gives me solice to know its the right thing to do for them.I apriciate my veterinarian and I tell them how much their genuine care and warmth means to my greyhounds and I.
Thank you for your insight. I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts. I know a couple, he is and MD she is a Vet. She tells him he has it easy as he has only one species to deal with and it talks.
Nucalcian cost quoted 3k! This was for a 10 yyear old shiatsu . You can do it Dr. Lydia, homeschooled 4 kids! We did it. Our daughter has her degree D Ph. The boys have done well too.
Absolutely love that you brought this to the light for everyone to hear because people always are and will be the problem until people learn to grow up more respectable and respect animals and should care more about how they treat them and others but no one cares about self respect anymore and I feel that plays a big part in all these issues because no one cares about there own reputation in the eyes of others so they will continue to be ignorant to the real problems at hand. I mean look at the couple in this who are adopting horses, the women was so weird towards the child when the child said she wanted a red blanket like what’s wrong with that ? Yet the adult was telling her that a different color would be better for no good reason it doesn’t teach the child anything but to be bias and these are just the little hints I picked up on. Just because you’re an adult doesn’t mean you can’t be taught new things too and taught how to treat kids properly. And I’m not sure what’s said off camera but they shouldn’t be riding that horse full time until it’s 4 years old and only light riding at 2-3 and if we don’t educate people how are they gonna educate the children . It’s all a vicious cycle . I love horse plus for how they’ve truly helped these horses lives but I don’t want them going into the wrong hands because as dr lydia said , the people cause the burn out and the issues and more people need to stand up for these animals.
Dr. Lydia's, have you tried the K thru 12 home school program? My daughter home schooled her two daughters and that is what she used. It was great. Good luck. ❤
I worked as a para in a high school for 18 years. I would definitely home school if you could, and it wasn’t the teachers it was the content I couldn’t stand.
I hope the horses do okay in that trailer. It's not properly hitched. Leaning back too much. Also, I hope they know enough to take care of these horses.
Dr. Gina and Dr. Lydia have amazingly complementary skills. A great team!
I had a farm vet in southern Illinois and went to him for 40 years. So many friends didn't care for him because he was usually honest when it came to quality of life for animals. Walk in my shoes before you decide what I should do. Talk is cheap but hard work is difficult Thank y 2 for all you do x
Incredible... Much respect &🙏
My friend's (the one is Switzerland) daughter is actually in vet school in Tennessee.
I home schooled both of my boys. I was blessed to have several co-ops in my area that I plugged into for my weaker subjects.
Us humans are social animals just like horses. Dr Gina, Dr Lydia, and tech’s are their own little herd supporting each other.
I find you amazing, your a great speaker,I am so glad you talk about health, suicide etc.I watch you from canada.ignore the haters it's ok for them their sitting on the coach.hugs.
I enjoyed the new videographer! He’s got a great voice and good dialogue with the people he’s filming. Haylee and Maycee are awesome too though ❤
Dr. Lydia, who am I to question the wisdom of you and Dr. Gina. I see what I see but not as a doctor. I see short little clips. I am going to add you and Dr. Gina to my prayer list, that the Lord Jesus keep you strong, give you what you need to do your work and to give you peace.
The Vets and Staff are all amazing 😍... we do love all you do. God will continue to bless you. ❤😊
Dr Lydia, I am so glad you are homeschooling! Excellent decision for your children.
Dr. Lydia & Dr. Gina, I LOVE YOU. ❤❤❤❤❤THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR WORK ❤❤❤❤❤.
Thank you Dr Lydia for the update! Glad you are not going anywhere. You are an amazing team and I love watching you guys ❤🙏

Im so apperceive of what you all do..❤❤❤
Stay strong. You are doing this right.
My heart ached to see this as we had to make a choice to but our dog to sleep. ❤❤❤❤

I’m going into the Animal Health Science to be Registered Veterinary Technician. Y’all are amazing
I love your vets they are so very awsome and wonderful. keep up the good fight. love always.

Well we need too see more horses instead of gifts 🎉❤ thanks
Also, it's the same with teacher burnout, I can relate!

Heya... Liked number 89, will share and commenting now. Hugs from Esquimalt.... Love this and thank you for getting into the back stories.
I don’t have any direct experience but I have heard that Khan Academy is good for math. We miss you Dr. Lydia! Hope your kids are doing well ❤

Absolutely 100% agree with this comment. We love all of you and especially Drs. Lydia and Gina.
@@marilynbridges8697 I agree as well!

Nucalcian cost quoted 3k! This was for a 10 yyear old shiatsu . You can do it Dr. Lydia, homeschooled 4 kids! We did it. Our daughter has her degree D Ph. The boys have done well too.
Dr. Lydia. Your family's well-being is primary. Bless you and Dr. Gina, for all your compassion to these animals who need you both.❤❤
I second that thought!
Loving Nicola she obviously loves her work.
Good for you homeschooling your children. You will find a balance.
Great video guys
Watching from Cape Town South Africa 🐐🫏🐕🐓👍🇿🇦🌍🌈
Me too!
Finley got to see a horse 🐎 ❤
I hope the horses do okay in that trailer. It's not properly hitched. Leaning back too much. Also, I hope they know enough to take care of these horses.
