true very true. Well not the 'funner' (also 'funner isn't a word)part cause people also enjoy watching that sport + BASKETBALL? WHY WHY. Okay the reason why i say that is because both those sports that you mentioned women/girls play that sport aswell and they enjoy it. In both ways both sports are good in their own way :D

All those arguments about which gymnastics is the real one bla bla bla. The US WAG team came to support their RG girls. Kanaeva and Mustafina are very good friends...the professionals respect each other because they know how difficult the other is.
I really wish rhythmic gymnastics was more popular in the US.

you will never beat Russians in this sport! By the way, instead of doing rhythmic gymnastics you can do yoga\pilates\hot yoga and eat prana to improve your karma!

I wish that it was more popular in New Zealand ): We might be a small country, but that doesn't mean that we can't do well in other sports outside of our comfort zones. Unfortuately, the sport is so unpopular and it is very rare to find a Rhythmic Gymnastics club around where i live.

I think this a was a good year for the Rhythmic gymnast and I really love rhythmic gymnastics not only because I play this sport but because of it's artistry it is amazing!!!
Just if you guys were wondering, *the apparatus at the side of the floor was there so if they had dropped their ball/hoop then they could grab that instead of walking of the floor and getting it. They have it at all competitions.*

Son Yeon Jae's hoop performance should've had the highest score for that round! She deserved better! Evegenia made more than 2 errors in her hoop performance and it's just as hard as Son Yeon Jae's in which there's no error at all but Evgenia still managed to have the second highest score!

It's strange how the reporters speak highly of gymnasts who didn't do well their perfomance, and critize who has very high difficulties. Working with apparatus and smile are not the only things, gymnast should also have difficult part.
I'm fan of "Soviet Unnion" school (Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan etc.). If the other countries want to won them, they should work even harder than these countries.
P.S. Ulyana Trofimova (Uzbekistan) has paticipated on Olympics with injury, that's why she didn't look well on stage!!!

I agree, yes there are crowd favorites but its obvious some people are just rooting for their favorite gymnast based on looks.. also I had to watch this without audio because I couldn't stand the commentators, so noisy.. Its obvious they talk a lot on the performances they don't highly care about
The thing with their criticisms is they probably don't understand much about RG, as there are a lot of gymnasts, to win you have to do routines flawlessly and be memorable.. Some people protest that "so and so should've won" but they didn't even do the routine properly.. what a joke
Its obvious the Russians are really good at it because of years of commitment and training, some people like Liubou I find memorable, by the way they do the routine, it's enjoyable to watch. This is why they won.. it's all about impressions and difficulty

The narrators are making me sick talking about Trofimova that way, she wasn't crying because she was dissapointed with her routine, she was crying out of pain because she was injuried!!!! Also it's obvious the have no clue about rhythmics, one example is they don't realize that Mitrosz is getting about 3 points more than she really deserves because she has connections, as Weber does, (it's obvious but I also know it from a professional judge).

These commentators are probably the best I've ever heard. So professional. This was a great Olympics. However I think there was slanted judging here which is unfortunate. Kanaeva dropped her hoop twice at the start of her routine, and nobody said anything... Hmmmm
dear people who thick gymnastics isn't a sport,
what do you think cheerleaders do for their kicks, most cheerleaders take some form of gymnastics to help them be able to do the bends and jumps and kicks, and everyone says cheer is a sport so is gymnastics, both sports practice for hours a day to be ready for competitions so to those who think gymnastics isn't a sport just watch them perform because im pretty sure most of the naysayers cant even do one of the simple moves
+Sarah Ashe the two have their level of difficulty, but do not compare the rhythm with been cheerleader....in the rhythmic begin from girls with training of 8 or 9 hours all week of Stretching, strength, dance and expression and if they do succeed become legends in their countries or they do not pass trainings in the gym and be cheerleader is almost always of a group of arrogant,conceited girls dressing provocatively or a title to become the most popular girl in school.
+ReGiS MrL No cheerleading is NOTHING like that. I do all star cheerleading and it's not your basic school side line cheerleading. There are competitions and hospital visits and flipping and other stuff that you wouldn't even know. Don't go commenting things that aren't true. (BTW i do rg too
+Valeria Gobjila yeah there are side cheerleading and then there is competing where you flip around and do pyramids en stuff. Most people that say its not a sport have probably only seen ones in football or basketball XD
