There a EXCELLENT FLAG POLES I Got a 25' one. I dearly Love it. IF? The joints get stuck, pour water down in and around the joint. Left it up a few time and try to loosen it. If it don't get unstuck do it again. It should free up the dirt and sand down in the joints
I was out there tonight trying to get mine down because of the storm “Helene” coming to us. What a job I had trying to get the pole down. It’s still up but only half way now. I will try again tomorrow if I’m able to with the weather
@@MsCocopuffy have you got a rubber band jar opener? Wet the joint down good, LIFT UP AND TURN LEFT TO LOOSE IT. keep doing it until the sand and dirt is out of the joint. IF STILL STUCK? Try the jar opener. by turning it counter clock wise TO THE LEFT Lift up as your trying to turn it Do not turn it so hard Right next time. Just lightly hand tight
@@426superbee4thank you for your help. I’m just seeing your post today so hurricane Helene has come and gone, Milton also paid us a strong visit. Step son got the pole down for that one. Thank you for your helpfulness I will try that next time.
Hint: I bought a cheap Habor Freight 1/2 inch drill on sale for these types of digging projects. Also purchased a 24 inch x 2" auger bit. Using that to drill down and loosen dirt is So Much Easier than the post hole digger method.
How tall is your flagpole? also how much rocks did you put in the ground? I am using compound for easy removal and where would I get a cap for the sleeve? I may just end up using tape to cover the hole if I need to
Thanks for the questions. My flagpole is 25'. My soil is very sandy so I only put 4" of stone in the hole. If you have a lot of clay, you should dig deeper and add more stone. The cap came with the flagpole. Hope that answers your questions. Thanks for watching.
You can pour the dry concrete mix directly into the hole and tamp down with a 2x4 and checking plumb as you go. For every bag follow with 5 gallons of water. Wait until the water completely percolates down thru the dry concrete and add another bag or until the concrete fills the hole. Been setting fence post this way for 42 years. Fast and easy.
@JQUICK21 Yes, 5 gallons is WAY too much water. I recently bought some 50 lb quick set bags for fence posts. The bag instructions said to use a half of gallon of water in to the hole per bag. I did that and juked the mixture in the hole with a short piece of rebar. Worked great.
I got farmers around that bails hay. ALL THAT DIRT GOES ON TO MY FLAG POLE... That how i free it up! 👍👍 .. So far it has with stand winds over 90 mph. with the flag on it. I couldn't get it down in time . And i wasn't about to get out into a storm, with winds like that 🙄🙄 what the flag did was? Folded up into a stream line, Which helped against the winds ---------> Also if you get a lot of winds. Like i do > on a hill top! Drop the pole down some. I drop my 5' to 20' high this makes it even stronger 💪💪
Good eye! My video stopped recording and by the time I realized it, the cement was poured. Since it was not a necessary step and to avoid confusion, I elected not to discuss it. Since you spotted it, I added some 1/4" galvanized hardware cloth as reinforcement in the concrete. Thanks for watching.
Well, I think you had it. I call it a mixing tub. You can usually find it in the aisle with concrete mixes and cement blocks. Hope that helps! Happy mixing
Looks great. How many bags of Quickcrete did you use. pounds vs bags. I bought 3 - 80 lb bags. I hope I get to return one. Also liked the idea of small gravel in the bottom. So why the wire circumference fence?
Hello Cherrie, I believe I used 3 bags. Make sure the sleeve pipe sits in the gravel and not blocked with concrete. You want water to be able to drain out. I used the metal mesh as added strength but not something that needs to be done. Thanks for the comment. Good luck with your project.
Hey Nate, it's working great! The only issue is when the temp goes below freezing, and there is moisture on the pole. I was not able to retract the pole until later in the morning when it warmed up some. I usually have 2 flags on it. I am very satisfied. FYI- they come in different heights, so take a good measurement.
Still works great. The only issue I have is when it rains and then freezes. When that happens, it's almost impossible to lower the pole. I have to wait until the temperature goes above freezing.
Why are flagpole company's selling flagpoles and flying a second flag less than 1 ft from the bottom of the American flag? You'd think they'd know that!
PLUMB THE POLE WITH A 2' LEVEL ON THE SIDE OF THE POLE, "NOT THE TOP"! THE POLE ONCE PLUMB NEEDS TO BE LOCKED IN PLACE TO KEEP IT PLUMB. I HAVE VIEWED MANY FLAGPOLE INSTALLATIONS AND INSTALL A FEW FLAGPOLES AND THIS VIDEO IS NOT RECOMENDED TO USE FOR INSTALLATION OF A FLAGPOLE, TO MANY MISSED STEPS.
Interesting! 1 year later, sleeve top still level. Installed flag pole and checked side of pole..... LEVEL!!! Let's not make this complicated. It's basically a simple project.
I looked for hours to find the best way to install my Flagpole, and I found it!!! Thanks for the video!
Im glad you found the video useful. Thanks for watching
Nice job. Like the idea of the chicken wire for added strength.
Thanks! 👍
Simple straight to the point! Fine job looks great. Getting ready to install my flagpole I'm glad I found your video!
Good luck Kris. The hardest part was carrying those bags of cement! Thanks for the comment.

You can probably just put the concrete mix in the whole dry and periodically run water into the hole
Yeah, they do sell no mix concrete, but I prefer to get a little workout.
Yes!!!! A Cleveland Browns flag! Go Browns! Woof Woof Woof
That's the spirit! Go Browns

Pat, I hate to sound so ignorant but what is the black mixing bin called? Trying to find this at HD or Lowes

@@patshomeprojectsandmore5878 nice, thank you for the input. I appreciate it, I will be buying one this week.

I think it would have been easier to mix the cement in the wheel barror.
Rick, you're probably right. At the time, I felt using the mixing tray worked better for recording purposes. Thanks for commenting!

Thanks. Go AFC North division. It's probably the strongest in the league

I like the Bengals but only a Cleveland Browns flag will attach to this pole
