    Great video! I did one on my 2018 Clarity as well. I have done two of them so far at the recommended intervals, even though my car is EV 80% of the time! Oil comes out super clean. I could put it in the lawnmower!
    Best of luck with the channel! Keep up the great work!

      Brad On Cars Thank you, it does feel like such a waste of oil based on preprogrammed interval.

    • @myanghua
      @myanghua 4 года назад +5

      There's no need to change engine oil at the "recommended" intervals. The software engineers at Honda are just lazy to distinguish between ICE and PHEV cars. Chevy Volt would keep track how much gas is actually used and calculate the oil change interval accordingly. Many Volt owners would change oil once every 2 years. For Honda Clarity, the manual said at least once a year. I think that's a good interval if you drive in EV mode 80+%.

      @BradOnCars 4 года назад +2

      @@myanghua Totally hey. I just do it when it's convenient since I do them myself. If I had a gas lawnmower I'd put the "used" oil in it to get some more life out of it! All the best! -Brad

    Thanks! My dealer, Economy Honda in Chattanooga, said my first would be free. From then on I’ll do them myself. Two comments: 1) Its a good practice to fill the filter with fresh oil. 2) Be sure to document and keep receipts for the oil and filter to protect your warranty.

    Excellent how-to video. Not sure if you've tried the 5 qt jugs of Mobil 1, but it would be cheaper than buying the individual quart bottles.

    Very cool video. I read your other comment about how traffic in California is bad. I completely agree. I live in Long Beach and I do mostly city driving but when I get on the freeway it is ridiculous how long it takes just to travel 20 miles, around one hour. When I visit Colorado Springs, 20 miles would take like 15 minutes.

    Next time you should add some oil to the oil filter so when the engine starts its not a dry start. Over all very clean and simple oil change for the car. People would be crazy to not do it themselves

      Electric driven engine is why it's so clean. Mine is 3 yrs. old @ 75K miles, this is first oil change other than one done @ 5k miles done by dealer, (& I don't realy count that, as it was clean oil they replaced).
      I could go even longer on the same oil as it doesn't look that bad, but after 2.5 yrs. I felt like I should do SOMETHING!
      NOTE: Runs mostly on electric power with gas power for last 5 - 10 miles of daily commute.

      My Clarity does the same thing. I rarely fill up the tank, but when I do it says that I have over 1,000 miles, which is obviously not correct. I don't particularly care because I almost exclusively use the battery indicator.

    • @Sunshone7311

      Michael Borquez Nice. Staying in the Honda family. I must say your videos have help me a bunch on my 2013 Accord. So I will sadly miss those. Congrates on the new car. Will you do a full review on new one?

    • @Sunshone7311
      @Sunshone7311  6 лет назад +3

      Jason Cunningham For sure, it is a very different kind of car. Fit and finish is not as good as the Accord, but it is eerily quiet when running full electric mode. With the rebates in California, the car is very affordable and returns insanely good MPG while not being slow like a Prius.

    • @mmz77

      Michael Borquez I understand that with Cali traffic. Hopefully this gives you many trouble free miles. Would you say overall the accord was a solid car?

    • @Sunshone7311
      @Sunshone7311  6 лет назад

      mmz77 Very, it was a great car. I would have kept it, but it was at 185,000 miles and that was my last chance to sell it for a good amount. Once you cross 200,000 miles people think there is something wrong with it, lol.
