GUUUURL we tore up the dance floor to this back i n the day. I think this came out when I was in Jr High and this was another one of those songs that we memorized all the dance moves to so we could bust out at house parties. SO fun!!
Vanilla Ice, Utah Saints, The KLF, Prodigy, Goldie, and not forgetting the Hardcore scene so many bangers and tunes that will live on forever unlike most of the tripe that has been released since the early 2K's,
@@mykebreedenhe didn't claim he was anything he didn't try to be but dancer or preacher. Didn't matter he never pretended to be gangsta. But he was as dangerous. You can ask Jay-Z about that, He said something about him being broke in a song and got checked. He was like "I didn't realize that wasn't allowed to be talked about" it was so funny.
As a Gen X guy. This was the man when I was in HS in the 90's. In fact, I remember walking to the football locker room and a big sign said "too legit to quit" on it in the hallway. Another hit song by Hammer. My favs by him were "Dont pass me by" and "Here comes the Hammer"
MC Hammer was HUGE for about a year, and he made parachute pants a thing. Then he became the butt of everybody's joke. It was kind of sad, really, most of his stuff was so much fun! You're squirming like you're ready to break out your dance moves! The sample in this song was from Rick James "Super Freak" Rick James is a vibe you HAVE to check out. The freakiest of the freaky dudes!

MC Hammer did popularize those pants, but those aren't parachute pants. I know, they were called that. But REAL parachute pants came out in the early 80s. They fit a lot tighter, were made out of ripstop nylon (the same material actual parachutes were made from), and they had zippers all over them. They were first popularized by break dancers in the early 80s.
MC Hammer was massive back in the day. Back in the 80's and early 90's, there was 3 musicians fans who could afford to, were dressing up as. Madonna Michael Jackson and MC Hammer. It wasn't just for Halloween, it was any day, you felt like it.
Lyrics by MC Hammer. Music by the late Rick James. Sample is from his song Super Freak. Backing vocals by The Temptations. San Francisco native 🌁 here. I remember this when I was a young boy. MC Hammer lived in Oakland. Back when the Oakland Athletics won 3 World Series titles, MC Hammer 🔨 was the ball boy. Tom Hanks and Mrs Fields worked in the Coliseum. Hammer got his nickname because he looked like the late Hammering Hamk Aaron. After leaving the Navy, MC Hammer got a loan from Dwayne Murphy and Mike Davis, then outfielder for the Athletics. What is so good about the 80's and 90's music is it included everyone. If you could sing, dance or both we loved you. Even if was a one hit wonder(I love the 80's one hit wonders, Thank you MTV). Most song's didn't use bad language because they would not be play on the radio or tv. Have fun with the oldies. I had fun living through them. Some day your sounds are going to be oldies too, remember that and enjoy them. Have fun and enjoy life!
Love this!! Love the dancing. Hammer is ahead of his time with the moves. He's from Oakland, SO MUCH talent comes from the Bay Area including Tupac, Sheila E., E-40, Too Short, The Pointer Sisters, etc., definitely a hot spot for rappers and music in general. At least it was back then anyway.
As a OG Millenial I can tell you this being raised in our generation (90's) was a Blessing you will never catch better choreography/dance videos than the 80's & 90's. I even was in a Talent Show with a Friend of ours from school Jennifer who did Christina Aguilera's "Come On Over"(All I Want is You") and me and my puertorican whiteboy Ernie were her dancers,so much fun we had lol😂good to see you appreciating it Mia keep em' coming😋
ICONIC! One of the most popular songs of it's time in the early 90's. "Too Legit To Quit" would be another to react to. His moves are legendary. If you want an earlier boy band, I suggest New Kids On The Block, start with this song: "Step By Step."
MC Hammer always did it big and had a lot of dancers on stage whenever he did a performance or a concert. Some rappers didn’t like him because they thought he was being too commercial, but he didn’t care. He was just all about getting his money and making the people happy. I remember seeing him on The Oprah Winfrey Show in the 90s that’s how big of an artist he had became.
I like MC Hammer you couldn’t hear song and not get on the dance floor. But he got a lot of heat from other rappers because he was the first one to sign advertising deals.😍🎶

MC Hammer's "Innovative" production here of this song was quite a Showstopper Mia & also if not mentioned already, this Song is based on the Late Rick James's Tune "Super Freak", which came out in 1981... What you called a piano is likely a synthesizer, or an electronic keyboard of some kind at least. Never thought about it before, but the video brought it back. That was fun; thanks.
Ripped off is such a harsh word, he sampled it just like every rap song. Plus most people already knew that was a Rick James song so no one got screwed over

Fun music for sure! You're probably hearing the synthesizer. 90s music carried over from the 80s, and the synth was always there. You need to react to Bobby Brown's "Every Little Step".....Another fun 90s one! 🎉❤
When you mentioned white dude i thought "Vanilla Ice" with "Ice Ice Baby" or even "Snow" who did the song "Informer" i like his other song "Run Way".Also Young MC's "Bust A Move" & "Principals Office" Bel Biv Devoe with their song "Poison" & "Word To The Mutha" Bobby Browns "Humpin Around" Father MCs "Ill Do For You" Marky Mark & The Funky Bunch "Good Vibration" C&C Music Factory "Gonna Make You Sweat" & "Do You Wanna Get Funky" G-Wiz "Teddy Bear" Portrait "Here We Go Again" New Jack Swing were popular in the 90s too "Joe Public "Live & Learn" "Easy Come Easy Go" so many

He was so popular till he almost eclipsed Michael Jackson's fame. One day you should react to MC Hammer turn this mutha out.
He's a preacher now, but when this song came out he was one of the most feared gangsters around. If you want to here something similar check out Sir-Mix-Alot
He became a punchline, but this song was absolutely huge back in the day. Everyone was trying to do the sideways dance. For similar happy 90s hip hop, I would recommend Bust a Move by Young MC, OPP by Naughty by Nature, Jump Around by House of Pain, and The Humpty Dance by Digital Underground (2 Pac is a backup dancer in the video before he got famous).

I thought MC Hammer was going to be the next Michael Jackson... That was how big he was in 1990/ '91... How wrong I was 🙄 MC Hammer was born Stanley Kirk Burrell in Oakland, Cali... He was a devout Christian and started dancing and rapping in the 80's, releasing his indie album 'Feel my power' in 1986... He signed a lucrative record deal w/ Capitol Records for $1, 750, 000 advance and re-released 'Feel my power'... followed by "Let's get it started" in 1988 which sold 2x platinum. "U can't touch this" sampled "Super freak" by Rick James and the single became a hit single in 1990... MC Hammer's 3rd album "Please Hammer, don't hurt 'em" ... charted at #1 and sold over 10 million copies in the US. Opting to change his moniker to Hammer in 1991, he released the album 'Too legit to quit' in 1991... but despite selling 3x platinum, Hammer was mocked and ridiculed for 'going pop' and found his record sales drop ... After a tour, Hammer discovered that his $33 Million fortune was reduced to Zero and he was dropped by Capitol Records in the wake of the 90's 'gangtsta rap' trend. Hammer released 'The funky headhunter' in 1994 and tried to look 'gangsta'... but it didn't work w/ the single 'Pumps and a bump'... It did sell platinum in the US. He briefly signed w/ Death Row Records but left the label in 1996 after the death of rapper 2Pac. He released the album 'Inside out' in 1995 as MC Hammer, but his career was over by then... MC Hammer released a few more records but saw little fanfare... He spent his last 2 decades as a church minister and other business ventures.
70s thru 90s rocked with all music and people!!! 2000s came and it went to shit especially with people, buncha crybabies n video games!!! Parachute pants was the shit lmao!!! Absolutely love ur reaction videos, God bless u sweetheart and stay safe!!!
The white guys name that you searching for is vanilla ice right ? A little fun fact that was one of the first 90s hip hop Songs that got realsted ( got realased 13.01.1990)
Smaller known fact about Hammer. He was a Bay area, Oakland, gangsta. He controlled what rap groups came around the bay area in the 90's. If you had beef with hammer you didnt show your face there. Most people didnt realize this because of all the dancing and mainstream attention he got. But you can find some legit videos of guys talking about the Bay Area being Hammers turf. You are thinking of Vanilla Ice as the "white guy". He was more or less a one hit wonder.
OMG I remember this song! As others have said it, he was all over the place when this came out. All of us wanted to learn how to do this dance, no matter what cultural back ground we came from. Rap/Hip Hop was just so infectious to us all. Loved it! Loved your reaction and observation to this song. Yeah so sad it is all twerking now, well said. Another song from around this era, with the fun and fun lyrics is " Baby Got Back" by Sir Mix Alot.
MC Hammer recorded “U Can't Touch This” in 1989. The song was released on January 13, 1990, as the third single from his third album, Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em.
This is one of the biggest hits in rap history, MC hammer and Vanilla Ice proved in the early 90’s that rap music could be just as big as other genres of music, I would recommend “Too Legit to quit “ video by MC Hammer
Oh, I remeber this well. This song and MC Hammer, with the dance was huge. The phrase " can't touch this" was so pupular it was often used in many different entertainment genres. Very catchy tune. Big big hit. Enjoyed your reaction. You seemed to enjoy this video as well as song. Great reaction ! Your asking us for songs other than what you've been reacting to the most. I will try one more time ( have asked you to listen to this song frequently ) "Smoothe" - Santana featuring Rob Thomas ( the video ). This is a song from the 90's ( 97 I believe ). If one can't find themselves moving to this song than they have no rhythm. This song was # 1 song from 90's. To take a very popular a phrase from a commercial from the 70's of a boy named Mikey eating cereal at kitchen table " Try it, you might like it " ✌️
In the 90's the video's were events. A young Hype Williams was "The" super director that crafted visuals that live on today. Will Smith "Getting Jiggy With It" and Tupac "California Love" are iconic videos that were events when they came out.
This one, 2 legit & the teenage mutant ninja turtles song. He got it done. Also he rolled deep, check the redman interview where he talks about insulting hammer, then immediately regretting it.
Hammer put on a show everytime he hit the stage. He always had 50-75 dancers with him. And everybody was almost as good as him. Plus Hammer use to be a Pastor out of Oakland California, so sometimes he would kinda preach in his raps. Also Hammer was well respected in Oakland and Hammer really had people that would fight for him. And Hammer got to do one of his first biggest shows in Oaklands A’s baseball park. Hammer knew the owner since he was a child. Hammer was also on the same label as 2pac and was one of the last people that was around Pac before he past. And before Aladdin came out those were Hammer pants. 😂😂😂. Hammer is top 5 performer of all time. If you like this then check out Kid N Play. They danced too.
he and Tupac were like brothers. he actually had more street cred then people actually knew about. he was Switzerland and by that I mean he was the moderator for a lot of hip-hop beefs in the day. not saying they all listened but he was the one they both trusted. he may have been Oakland Born and raised but when it came to the West coast vs East coast beef, he was completely neutral in it.
Hammer is AMAZING! I also suggest Peter Gabriel "Sledgehammer" / Missy Elliott "I can't stand the rain" / Busta Rhymes "Put your hands where my eyes could see" and Prince "When Doves Cry" and if you havent already, Michael Jackson's "Thriller" or "Leave me Alone."
Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock - It Takes Two, Maestro Fresh Wes- Let Your Backbone Slide, Tone Loc - Funky Cold Medina or Wild Thing, Young MC - Bust A Move, Whodini - Freaks Come Out At Night, Ice T - I'm Your Pusher, Shannon - Let The Music Play, Digital Underground - The Humpty Dance Try these late 80's/early 90's track on for size 😉
A Rick James sample. I'm sure the keys were from a Keyboard Rick James snagged from Prince and returned to him after Rick used to record an album. Rick had deleted the sound settings Prince had programmed i to the Keyboard.
If you have watched Disney's Aladdin 90s animated movie (not the real action remake), Aladdin's pants were inspired by Mc Hammer's pants on this video.
I feel like joy is missing from a lot of music these days. Something that can just make you smile and puts you in a good mood. That being said, Fleur East is a contemporary artist I found that has some pretty uplifting / groovy stuff. You should check her out.
Yeah, this song and Vanilla Ice were basically the ONLY rap songs on pop radio for what feels like 2 years in 90 to 92. I see you appreciate some dancing in your rap videos, check out anything by Heavy D and the Boyz ("Now that we've found love" or "Got nothing but love for you")

@@udstyle 1 of 6 G's in our cell block started to play "Gangsta's Paradise", but the others shut it off:"Cuz Coolio ain't cool: he's sh*t! Get real G' rap!"
I thought MC Hammer was going to be the next Michael Jackson... That was how big he was in 1990/ '91... How wrong I was 🙄
MC Hammer was born Stanley Kirk Burrell in Oakland, Cali...
Nobody has ever dared to fuck with MC Hammer. He is untouched, clean, fresh. Number 1, even this comment will be unchallenged.
There was a lot of twerking in Sir Mix A Lot’s video.
@@taoist32 Ha you are right!
Thank you Mia, for being so wonderful to your fans!
As much as I love this reaction, can I give a shout out to Mia’s abs? Seriously. She clearly puts in the work. Well done.

He was very popular in his day. You could say he laid the hammer down.
Jenifer Lopez (before she was ‘famous’) busting the dance moves in this video behind MC Hammer 💃
Back in the day people chased Fame and Respect , nowadays all you hear about is bags, and they'll do literally anything for a little bit of paper.
I remember mc hammer permanently changed the style of rap. Every one was challenging Hammer trying to elevate their level of money recognition.
Young MC had huge HITS ❤Hammer pants were a vibe
Bazuka with the song "Dynamite!!!" Straight up dope track
Other rappers just walked back and forth. Hammer put on a show.
Love the reaction you have to do " Too Legit To Quit with Gangnam Style" music awards as well as "Bumps in Da Pumps" clean version please.
One Hit Wonder , this dude made tons of $$$ with this tune .
Hammer " Pumps n the bumps" 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I remember this song when I was a kid. Everybody was walking around like "Can't touch this"
he and Tupac were like brothers. he actually had more street cred then people actually knew about. he was Switzerland and by that I mean he was the moderator for a lot of hip-hop beefs in the day. not saying they all listened but he was the one they both trusted. he may have been Oakland Born and raised but when it came to the West coast vs East coast beef, he was completely neutral in it.
You gotts to check out the song FEENIN’ by Jodeci and also Cult of Personality by Living Color.
I remember exactly the first time I heard this this and Kris Kross jump jump.
MC Hammer definitely was amazing in his prime!
5:03 - He called that dance move where he moves back and forth across the stage the "typewriter" :)
Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock - It Takes Two, Maestro Fresh Wes- Let Your Backbone Slide, Tone Loc - Funky Cold Medina or Wild Thing, Young MC - Bust A Move, Whodini - Freaks Come Out At Night, Ice T - I'm Your Pusher, Shannon - Let The Music Play, Digital Underground - The Humpty Dance
Try these late 80's/early 90's track on for size 😉
MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice were competitors back then :)
A Rick James sample. I'm sure the keys were from a Keyboard Rick James snagged from Prince and returned to him after Rick used to record an album. Rick had deleted the sound settings Prince had programmed i to the Keyboard.
His MC "Hammer ;Pants" were "big" time spoofed by Bart Sim;pson in his rap video ";Do the Bartman!" also in 1990! (:when "Simpsons" started;) 🤭👍 Mia!
I think you're referring to "Ice, Ice Baby" by Vanilla Ice. I'm from Minnesota. Let's get some Prince. Another delightful reaction, by the way.
If you have watched Disney's Aladdin 90s animated movie (not the real action remake), Aladdin's pants were inspired by Mc Hammer's pants on this video.
Hammer is a fellow Navy man!Hooyah!!
I feel like joy is missing from a lot of music these days. Something that can just make you smile and puts you in a good mood. That being said, Fleur East is a contemporary artist I found that has some pretty uplifting / groovy stuff. You should check her out.
Another good reaction....When you get a chance react to MC Hammer Let's get it started" the original video
