I really wish people would stop calling these new generation artists "the next version". The influence is definitely there, yes, but Tate McRae cannot top what Britney has done throughout her career
and the next version term in music definitely didn’t start with this new generation of artists. let’s not forget people calling ariana the next mariah or gaga the new madonna or chris brown the new michael jackson
@@dangamez1230well, they are good reasons. People have the right to be upset about someone dressing up as a nun and acting sexual and being gross. It’s very insulting to just women and degrading. Especially nuns, they work so hard to not be sexualized and don’t like being sexualized, so dressing up as one and acting sexual is very offensive to them.
Billie Eilish is honestly in her own lane at this point. She blew up over 5-6 years ago and yet she STILL getting bigger and bigger every year. She will be unstoppable in the future.
What’s missing is that this generation doesn’t have a prime Timbaland, The Neptunes or Calvin Harris and so on. We need to bring back producers! I had enough of Jack Antoff and his sad girl music. Dan Nigro and Finneas good amazing top tier producers, but I mean producers who can produce smash hits and shake up the scene,
this right here is so true, if it’s not for the producers who are the ones who essentially create the sounds and set the trends, really how else is there gonna be anything fresh? there are way too many talented and experimental producers out there, just the ones being pushed all tend to sound super polished to the point it’s sterile and they all have similar production styles. if the record labels aren’t gonna choose these types of producers, us as consumers need to start supporting underground producers hardcore where the industry won’t be able to ignore them
I miss seeing rock stars in-between the pop stars or at least rock stars who are at least trying to sound like rock. But yeah, I also miss Timbaland, Calvin Harris and The Neptunes.
THIS. no one is bopping their heads these days. that’s why BRAT is so good, fire beats on top of fire lyrics is all music needs to be. ag cook needs to be looked at fr fr he could be another “type” of timbaland in his own right
Thank you for saying Chloe and Halle are better together. I'm glad it's not just me thinking this sentiment. Their songwriting and combined musical talent are unmatched.
yes. i thought it was a huge mistake to go solo at that time as i think they could have risen a lot had they stayed together. they weren't a flop. some things just take more time.
I think since we live in such a decentralized, fast paced culture where things and celebrities don’t last or stick around in the public consciousness as much as they used to, they’re at risk of being in trouble. But I certainly see Billie and Olivia and maybe Sabrina lasting.
Yeah this is true. I DO see Sabrina lasting past short n sweet though. The internet is so different compared to how it was in the 2010s. THINGS USED TO LAST MUCH LONGER ON THE INTERNET. Now we ALL move on after a week or two.
I’m ngl I haven’t heard anything about Olivia Rodrigo (outside of looking for it) in over a year, and I like Olivia Rodrigo. Billie is established she shouldn’t really be in this discussion since she’s pre TikTok. And Sabrina, well we seem to eat our own stars in the 2020s so she should but they’re already starting a hate storm☠️
It's because good music is good music. A visual dosen't make a song good, the actual song makes a song good. I think that's why Billie Eilish has remained the most consistently successful artist out of all of the mentioned. Take away the music videos, take away the visualisers, even take away her own image or looks. The voice is there, the music is there. Our generation is too addicted to constantly looking at visuals that we forget to listen to the music, that's why people think Tate McRae is the new Britney. Maybe she's on Britney's level dance-wise, but if you take away all that - she doesn't have the hits, lyrics or melodies that Britney had at all!
Billie have vocals and can SANG that’s why she’s successful I hate when they say she whispered you can’t even sing or breath right who tf are you to judge
Well keep in mind EVERY generation says this. I’m a huge 2000s pop fan (Britney, Beyoncé, Xtina, Gwen) but I promise you people were reminiscing on the 80s/90s when they came out. They’re highly praised now but in 15 years y’all will reminisce the pop girls of today as the greatest thing ever when the future stars come out.
But can these Gen Z popstars really match Beyonce, Xtina and Britney talent-wise? I remember Britney being regarded as less talented when she hit the scene, but she could wipe the floor with most of them performance-wise and even, sadly, vocals-wise too (at least earlier on in her career). I think the talent dropoff with the death of labels' artist development is real.
@@GreenGretel trust me I agree 😂 I’m a huge Britney stan and even though she’s not the best singer, she was an amazing performer and that era in general had more star power. I’m just being objective bc they got hate as well and now they’re branded as icons (as they should) but the same thing will more than likely happen with this group (even if I don’t listen to their music)
Celebrity culture as a whole is spiraling down the drain so I’m not sure if there’s anything younger artists can even do right now. Everyone is overworked, underpaid & running out of patience. Makes me wonder if pop music really was better a decade ago or if it just seems that way because the struggle wasn’t all consuming.
Nah, pop music wasn't really that much better a decade ago or even 2 decades ago. There's plenty of pop music today that's really great, and there was just as much forgettable pop music in the 90s, even the 80s. Folks just romanticize the music from those eras because it didn't feel like the whole world was complete trash back then.
Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo are definitely the two most consistent and powerful ones. Also now that you mentioned it, Chloe x Halle need to be back asap
Last year definitely, but this year it's changed. Both are still incredible but there have been other artists dominating the charts consistently this year.
@@User-yu8er But the other artists dominating the charts this year dont have the longevity yet. I mean they are not that long in the spotilight yet. We will see how it will be but for now Billie and Olivia are definitely the most consistent and powerful
honestly the only thing that billie eilish doesn’t have in comparison to those artists that people call “A-LIST ARTISTS” is a longer career. she’s got it all. she’s got the hits, she’s got the criticism acclaim, she’s got the awards (many grammy’s and two oscars btw), she’s released three amazing albums and an amazing debut EP. and to think that she and her brother make all of the music by themselves with most of the songs being entirely written by her is insaaane. she is definitely one of a kind.
@@NXTHNU. i agree, but most people wouldn’t because of how short her career is (which is even more impressive). i think when it comes to a-list artists people in general would say beyoncé, lady gaga, nicki, taylor, rihanna etc.
The Katy Perryfication of Sabrina Carpenter is something I've been saying and you're the first to actually mention it. If she doesn't give us another emails ics or something more personal and less gimiccky, I could for sure see her having her own Woman's World in 5-6 years.
I'm not really a big fan of hers but I don't really see her making choices as bad as Katy has. Katy has always had this intense insecurity about certain things and she's always been a little too surface level about serious stuff. I do see Sabrina being smarter than that. She's definitely not making woman's world at least.
@@thisthatbetbetter but aren't her explicit songs just like Katy's "power anthems"? I could definitely see her doing a cringe explicit song in 10 years to try gain relevancy.
i really think dua stepped on the right path after her performance at the royal albert hall. the live album is amazing and she's thriving in that type of environment, especially with her soulful voice. her best choice would be to follow this route for DL4, she has way too much potential to just let her fade away
@@bangpd-nimoppar1589 I can't see the comment you're replying to, but I agree about her acting overly mature. I get a weird feeling whenever I hear her talk and just couldn't put my finger on it; it's her acting overly mature. I watcher her interview with Stephen Cobert yesterday, and she does sound like 60-year-old actress from the 80's She has a weekly newsletter and book club where she tries to be very philosophical all the time but then you listen to her music, which just doesn't match the image she's trying to sell.
@@jellytwins1018 Omg I was thinking the exact opposite 😂 when I heard her speak, I thought FINALLY a 29 year old celebrity who actually acts their age and not like they’re perpetually stuck in high school!!! It’s obviously understandable when most celebrities act like teenagers or are undereducated because they have very privileged lives and don’t get out much. But it is nice to see a normal adult like her that is just like the rest of us 🤍 And I think older people do like happy dance music and there’s no need to act like a 19 year old to sell that kind of music. That’s why I love the duet she did with Elton John. I hope her 30s will bring her best music yet. I enjoyed listening to her singing in French on a duet she released recently. In the video, they looked so happy just making music and having fun 😊
To be honest for now, only Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo are the only gen z artist that is deserving earning a main pop girl status right now. Others are a too early to tell yet.
That’s how I feel, I get when Halle was filming and then promoting the little mermaid and the color purple. And then sure Halle could release her song. But I think they really needed to release as a duo summer to end of this year
About Olivia, Sour feels like a very rushed project just to capture the success around back to back hits like Driver License and Deja vu, while GUTS is THE album convinced me that she is a serious artist, GUTS just feels like her real debut album to me. Sour is better as an EP more than an album.
As much as I like sour i see where you're coming from. Out if her two albums I like sour more but I recognize that guts is the technically better one. Vampire is such an amazing song
The only Gen Z pop girl who, for now, seems like she will stand the test of time is Billie Eilish. She's been on the scene since, more or less, 2016 and has had multiple huge hits, accolades, a unique voice, a specific style and personality, and a memorable brand. She's not the next Avril or Halsey, nor does she aspire to be the next iteration of anyone. She's the first one of her kind and future pop girlies will try to be the next Billie Eilish. This is the same reason why the rest of the girls may not last. Sabrina Carpenter has been in the game for a decade and only now, that she has built this coquette persona, has she finally managed to make three huge hits. But she's a product now and nothing coming from her seems genuine or made with heart and soul. She and her team chase profit and they're getting that bag, but that's not a lasting recipe. Unless I see her music video or overly sexy performances, I don't know it's Sabrina. If I hear her voice on the radio, I won't instantly recognize her as I'd recognize Billie. Tyla is mostly relying on her sex appeal, amazing body, and hot style. She often states she wants to be the next Rihanna or surpass her, which comes across as narcissistic and arrogant. Yet, her voice isn't the strongest nor she has a very recognizable brand. Olivia Rodrigo has a chance to last because she has multiple hits, has interesting lyrics, and has a recognizable brand. However, I guess she may be lacking the IT factor or her second album simply didn't capture as much interest as the first one. Tate McRae has a similar problem as Tyla. She's incredibly sexy and good-looking and has a few great songs, but she's leaning too strongly into being the next Britney Spears. Her three latest videos look almost like ripe-offs of Britney's 20000s videos. She was more recognizable during her early, darker phase than now. She's lost her unique sound and direction. I don't think any other girl is even in competition. I won't count Dua Lipa and Charli XCX because although they may have a big Gen Z fanbase, they're Millennials with a clearly Millennial style and have been on the scene for a long time. They have already proven they're going to last. But beyond Billy, it's unlikely Gen Z will have artists of the same caliber and power as Millennials, Gen X, and Boomers. Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande are likely the last ones to be global superstars.
I think Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish will stand the test of time. With Olivia she represents a criteria of girlhood that exceeds stereotypical principles.. she isn’t afraid to call out the contradictions in systematics, she embraces everything that means to be a woman, form envy’s to sexual liberations. Her fandom also to a similar caliber of swifts is made up of the younger generation, her concerts are cathartic and have to be some of the loudest concerts I’ve ever witnessed, her “it” factor criteria is of narrative preface, she’s a figurehead and her fanbase unlike a lot of these girls exceeds beyond the US. Guts and sour are hugely successful albums and she continues to break records from legends like Britney Spears and Whitney Houston.
The problem with Lil Nas X and Dua Lipa is timing. The Montero album was in 2021.... It'll be 2025 soon and that's 4 YEARS without a new album. Dua Lipa also took 4 years between Future Nostalgia and Radical Optimism. These newer artists are simply not well established enough to be taking such long breaks between releases. Rihanna released roughly one album a year for 7 years straight. That's unheard of today...
The only one is honestly Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Ellish. Before her hiatus Billie was the main pop girl. She had undeniable smash hits, cultural success, unique look. Also her instagram post when she first debut with the blonde hair BROKE the internet, I think it set the records for the most likes on IG at the time or something. Also she had the controversy, her “queer-baiting” was a big topic, also her being a industry plan and nepo baby were big as well. I also wanna say Tyla. She’s still at the fetus stage of her career so it’s hard to tell, but so far she has everything expect that smash hit to really turn her into a main pop girl.
I remember when Billie came out and every girl was copying her style there were so many billies look alike, the last time a popstar had so many looks alike i think was Ariana Grande
@@inseungwoonamewestan1196 Ariana grande mania was CRAZY everyoneee wanted to look and be like her. The ponytails and heavy makeup look was everywhere. Also the oversized sweater.
Disagree Olivia’s captured the captivation of today’s youth. Every neice, nephew, etc of mine all love her and look up to her.. even with newcomers Sabrina carpenter or Chappell roan they look towards Olivia Rodrigo. And a child demographic is honestly the selling point.
I think that many artists fall into a few categories: moody sad, “I need a gimmick” or very bland with no branding. There’s many reasons why they don’t get far. Take Madison Beer or Tate McCrae. Madison has the voice, the looks but NOT the branding. I’ve seen multiple videos about her and the main consensus is that people don’t know that she’s an artist and NOT AN INFLUENCER. To me that’s a problem. You don’t people to think you’re a tiktoker, or an IG model that does music on the side. Her fashion choices although I like some of her outfits there’s no clear idea of what her schtick is. Is she like a Sabrina Carpenter coquette style or like a futuristic cybercore aesthetic? We, the audience do not know. Tate McCrae (idk if I’m spelling her name right please correct me if I’m wrong.😭) is a dancer. We try to push her as the new Britney Spears. Which to me we do not need another Britney because Britney cannot be topped. Tate is a dancer at her core, so she should have songs that cater to her strength (think of Slave 4 U or Janet Jackson’s All For You or If). Now me personally I do not like her “cursive” singing style and wish she could sing in a different style. Now another thing is her being Canadian. I’m Canadian myself and I’ll say this, I don’t mind her using the “hockey” look// aesthetic BUT we’re more than that and it seems to work in her favour as it used as an identifiable image. I want her to use more pop dance like productions. She’s kinda like a Nelly/Fergie hybrid, just without the spunk they both had. Chloe and Halle are an exceptional duo, and yes they work very well together and I think that them splitting up so early into their careers was a mistake and I think they need new management because to me Beyoncé isn’t doing it for me. To me she’s not doing her job as she should be doing. I do wish them the best though because I believe they can make it!!
For Tate, I also think branding her as the "new Britney Spears" is hurting her more than helping. She's setting herself up for too high of standard which hasn't been looking good for her lately. Especially coming from the consumer's perspective, if I want to listen to a "Britney" style song then I'll just go listen to Britney herself, I don't need to listen to a mockery or cheap remake of her. Tate needs to find her own artistic identity, you can only ride off the wave of another artist's notoriety for so long. For Madison Beer she was also letting herself be influenced by other bigger artists too much. Understandably so its perfectly fine to seek influence, but again as an artist you still need to eventually prove what and why you're unique. If that doesn't happen, she will easily get overshadowed by her own peers who are competing for that same spotlight.
just for the record, Tate´s hockey aesthetic is not rlly cause she´s canadian, her ex bf was a big hockey player and the entire album is very centered on their relationship and break-up
Billie Eilish will last because she writes from the heart, even though he music isn't for me she is unique and hugely talented! Dua Lipa is a generic performer but I think she has so much potential, when she plays unplugged she's phenomenal. Sabrina Carpenter is HUGE right now! But she will struggle to keep that up, she has to mature and change.
It's just hard accepting that Billie Eilish will be the face of Pop when her music is so sad 😭 what happened to pop that made you want to dance and induce feelings of JOY? I agree with everything you said though
@@briabridges8895 In cultural and musical studies, there is a prevailing notion that hard times often inspire the creation of happy or upbeat music as a form of escapism or collective resilience. While this phenomenon is not universally applicable-adversity has also given rise to somber, reflective, and revolutionary music-it aligns with historical patterns where music serves as a response to societal challenges. With economic woes bubbling up across the globe, it’s possible that an antidote may be happy and upbeat music :) As for Billie I never think of her as a pure pop artist, she's unique. She's Billie Eilish :)
The problem with the new generation of artists is that majority of them are lacking the real substance of art & music. They are all just copies of older & some recent artists, majority of them literally has 0 knowledge in music & is carried by their "personality". Overall, its boring. Coming up with an original idea, image or concept in this generation is hard but at least add some twist to it in a proper way & not just for gimmick then you go around flaunting it not knowing shit about your so called own "craft". Just listen to the older generations of artists & musicians, a lot of them already had knowledge in interest in making good music & not creating music for the sole purpose of short lived popularity. New generation of artists are lame, most of them are here for the clicks.
I think dula peep still has another in the bag, i would like for her to fully distance herself from the disco pop sound, i love radical optimism but i felt that either the label or dua was scared of losing that sound throughout the record becuase it has become her signature sound, i just hope she takes more risk beucase she took one with future nostalgia and it completely changed pop radio
I love your thoughts. I agree with most of what you say. Also what a lot of people don't realize is that most pop stars only enjoy success with their first 2-3 albums, or within their first decade. And it's always been that way
@@tammytt76 Or Mariah Carey. The woman dominated the 90s, had an amazing 00s comeback. Didn't have as much power in the 2010s but was still able to grab a number 1 hit with touch my body. Now her 90s Christmas song has basically become the *it* commercial christmas song
Majority of these popstars are MEDIOCRE and honestly, the output of certain artists is just not there compared to what it used to be. I'm from the Katy Perry., Gaga, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj..heck even throw in the Black Eyed Peas era and there was a point that I couldn't escape these artists because they truly were popstars, their music was EVERYWHERE and the output was just way more than it is now. The music industry has significantly changed with streaming plus with people moving away from celebrity worship so, I don't think a lot of these artists can be on THAT level of popstar we're used to. At the end of the day, they should probably just focus on catering to their own fanbase and make better songs!
I've been saying this, but I'll say it again: Billie doesn't get much bigger because she refuses to play the pop music industry game all the way. Like... hmhas is a 10 track album with some "weird" moments (aka is not a classic upbeat pop album and some songs are not radio friendly at all), but it's already outstreaming sabrina's album, that had a LOT of promo and big budget everything. Billie could have done hight budget mvs this era but she didn't cause she wanted to have her own vision in them. Like... at heart Billie is an alternative artist, but with mainstream reach. I'm not saying that she IS alternative or that her music is that experimental, but you know when you're listening to a Billie track once you hear it... She is already a legend. No one is doing it like her. She has created her own lane and she is not getting out off her artistic lane to get bigger
@@user-rv7ge1tc4l hm I get where you come from, but chihiro made sense to me at least. It tells a story and is so brilliant. It adds a lot of meaning to the song. I don't think it was lazy, it all just look like was last minute made right before she hit the road for tour lol. She can still give us a couple more (wildflower and the greatest) so lets be hopeful
The industry needs to go back to gate keeping and only pushing people with actual talent and not how viral they are on social media. If you don't have the talent, stage presence, breath control, work ethnic, and creativity, you are not allowed, period.
Thank you for mentioning Rina because I love her debut album to me it's timeless also because of the themes explored, I liked hold the girl again thematically but the sound was lacking to sustain but I am wishing a great new project from her her voice is refreshing in all this pop/alt realm. I love Tyla as well solid debut album, and ofc Sabrina but I agree with your point about her evolution after this, I am more of a EICS fan than short and sweet visually and sonically and I want something new from her more serious but still fun and smart. And for Dua I hope we will see a new Future Nostalgia from her not sonically but impact wise and as cohesive.
DId anyone notice how no one ever talked about Lil Nas X's Montero album? Like ever? We only talk about the singles and the gimmicks but I feel like NO ONE cares about the album itself. It was overshadowed by the controversies and spectacles and maybe his label pressured him to go into that route again.
Tate McRae is my girl and I’m hoping she drops some lyrically complex songs like back in her yt days soon. The dance songs like Exes fit the lyrical contents/ the beat keeps it going but her new single It’s okay I’m okay just had weak lyrics for me. If she could find a balance between styles without simplifying topics I feel like she’d absolutely capture the ppl’s attention like with Greedy. Bc you cannot deny she has talent and a huge range
Saw Dua Lipa live on her Radical Optimism tour and she has sold out arenas worldwide! These Walls and Happy for you should've been huge. She's doing great but she's everywhere. From Puma to TV specials these days.
She is still quite popular in Europe even if it isn’t at the top end of the charts , I think longevity in a artist career is better than having a few hit songs. She is in the ad for ysl libre parfum ect, I don’t understand this obsession with everything needing to be a be a big hit sounds something out of a soulless record label manager.
These Walls and Falling Forever have everything to be long lasting, especially when people refer to staples of a time they way people like eighties songs. I think what screwed the album up is the best songs on it weren’t released as singles
@@santostv. Yes, not everything needs to be a hit, but when it comes to Dua, her own management was trying to tell people that she's gonna do big numbers, and that's their goal. They said they want her to be the most streamed artist. So obviously people are gonna talk about her numbers
I do have respect for some of the artists mentioned, such as Billie Eilish, and not all modern music is bad. But, pop stars are such a throwaway thing these days, and looks and star quality matter so much more than talent. A lot of these pop stars don't really know anything about music, or care too much about music at all. It's about the image, the aesthetic, the idea of being a pop star. Musicians who are invested in their craft and are in it for the music, not the fame, are going to last longer, if we would stop judging someone by their aesthetic instead of their actual art.
I think Sabrina too since she's broken so many records this year and has multiple hits from this album alone. Tbh I see potential in a handful of artists. I'm so excited for the future of pop music
Problem with these Pop stars, their singing is average and adapting the music to the voice can only go so far. You may get an odd 2-3 tracks which which are ok, but overall they are wrapped in instant gratifying sounds, a hook, topped with fancy music videos, to appeal. It does get to the point, how many hired music writers do they need, with a lot of money thrown into the Media to make sure you know about the release. As we hit 2024, Sabrina Carpenter has been the most appealing, but her album does not blow me away. Looking back in 2024 has brought fantastic non-commercial album releases: Nightwish - Yesterwynde, Lutharo - Chasing Eurphoria, Unleash The Archers - Phantoma, etc.
@@vol.145 If Epica released an album in 2024, it would be a great album. I saw Epica in AFAS Arena, Amsterdam in September for two nights with an orchestra. Nightwish - Yesterwynde is light, musically in depth and creative. I understand by your meaning weak. Leaves' Eyes and Delain have that little more now.
Seeing the same with younger actors as well...many are just decent, have potential to master their craft, but appear in mostly "okay" to decent movies, and then the social media is full of them being the face of different advertisements and bank on being relatable or set up as a friend you know I mean it's partly how the game is played these days, but it feels like talent being wasted and thus not growing to what they can be capable of
@@jzhvaeduh I don't like to say a Pop singer can't sing, but many are very limited with their ability. To show an ability of being dynamic is Dutch singer Charlotte Wessels (a solo artist, ex-Delain vocalist). She has the ability to switch from standard singing, soprano to false chord. It is too much for the Pop industry, but it is impressive. I witnessed this example in London, but from the back of the venue. Somebody in the front videoed and uploaded to RUclips, titled: Cannibal feat. @CharlotteWesselsOfficial (Live at Scala London)
Obviously the way we consume music nowadays is vastly different from the last decades, but all these comments about new generation pop stars not being as iconic or talented as the old ones is more or less just bias tbh. I remember the exact same criticism being made for 2010s pop stars and how "trash" they were compared to the 90s icon, and so on. It's easy to think a new artist won't last or can't compare to older generations when you've only seen what they can do so far, and not the entirety of their career like you would with Rihanna or Katy Perry. It's hard to see the bigger picture when you're still living through the moment. Give it time and I guarantee the next decade people will be singing the exact same praises about how they were superior compared to the newer gens.
2010 stars still had talent and actually had multiple chart hits...and also brought something new or innovative to the table like lady gaga or kesha or the weeknd
@@archivesunset4214 At that time everyone said those artists were unoriginal 😂 everyone said Gaga was copying Madonna, they said Ke$ha made very cheap, generic music as a money grab, and they said The Weeknd was a copy of Michael Jackson in terms of his voice. I’ve been a Tate McRae fan since 2020 and I’m so hyped seeing her rise but I do notice she’s definitely excluded from the big 3 “new” girls this year Charlie, Sabrina, and chappel. Even though she is my fav pick of the new girls, I can definitely sense there’s something missing in her brand that those other 3 have that she does not, and I can’t quite figure it out, also I am a Britney Spears fan and I do not see the Britney comparison at all with Tate, I don’t think that marketing move makes any sense
I ll tell you whats missing, vocal performance, all the big three you have mentioned has some sort of impressive feats with their voice, you believe the words they say, but with Tate McRae I dont think anyone believes what she says because she doesnt sound like she believes what herself says
I think she needs to prove herself vocally. I think she is more Focused on dancing which is fine but not when you’re trying to be compared to other artists who have vocal abilities that she hasn’t shown much of.
Tate is lackluster mostly in the music department imo. She's a stellar performer and it's very clear that her label is pushing for her to be a performance type of artist, like Britney, but Britney had a hit-making team who knew how to pump out smash hits and appeal to a wide audience. Tate's songs, at least the singles, all follow the exact same formula since Greedy blew up and they show no personality or artistic identity. If you look at some of the bigger pop stars of this generation, like Olivia, Billie, Chappell, or Sabrina, they all have a very distinctive quality, not just in their brand image, but in their own music that keeps the audience interested. Tate needs to find her own voice instead of making songs that sound like they could be sung by anybody.
I couldn't tell u lol I'm Gen z and my mind struggles to grasp how our generation can be so rapid over these modern artists. I think most of them are super Mid as artists 🤷♂️
I'm a zillenial (from '96) and I definitely think that gen z popstars are extremely mid, but it's normal to think that when since 2000 I've been able to witness Britney Spears, Madonna, Shakira, Beyonce, Gaga, Gwen Stefani, Rihanna, etc. Honestly, what bores me about the new popstars is that they try at all costs to replicate past singers or past aesthetics like y2k, therefore they don't do anything memorable.
@@marilexismadriz7684 its become so boring to base everything about past nostalgia. Like where's the originality? Where's the innovation? If we don't see that then what's the point.

Billie has stated her disdain for collaboration so i highly doubt she'll work with any other producers. The two of them have managed to make 3 incredibly different albums with her latest one resonating the most with non Billie Eilish fans as well. They had to catch on and evolve to appeal to more people naturally overtime. Afrobeats and amapiano aren't doing that process and will ultimately likely end up a fad like reggae and reggaton was for a while then died out in the early 2000s. Some latin music is trying to make a comeback in the states but overall they are mostly played in latin countries because the genres don't take the time to grow naturally they just try to create manufactured fame for their artists. But at least latin people put money behind their artists. Doesn't seem african people are doing the same with african artists. Tems is a better example of an african artist who grew naturally in the states. She was in many features with respectable artists and tapped into the essence of rnb which appeals to balck americans. Tems came across as authentic and we watched her grow froma small artist to a bigger artist. Tyla came out of nowhere like the typical industry plant. Americans are tired of american industry plants let alone someone from another country. We don't need anymore mediocre music and performances.
@@YoungHotEbony142 I don’t care if you think she’s boring. My comment isn’t up for a petty argument by her haters. Tyla is killing it and the best new artist I’ve seen in awhile. She is consistently amazing and her performances are never bad.
I really miss when radio was still being listened to. By everyone. Songs were EVERYWHERE due to the radio back then. It was SUCH a dominant force. And it was MUCH better than streaming, I swear. Everyone ACTUALLY heard it and knew the song word for word, and they worked for long car rides. It also doesn't help that now, you have to hope your song does numbers on Tiktok. AND THEY WOULD PLAY IN PUBLIC SPACES. On the bus, in stores, in restaurants. That made it feel SO much more universal!
I love Olivia Rodrigo so much, I think she is very talented and I see a lot of potential in her. SOUR was an extremely successful blockbuster album which would be near impossible to top commercially but as long as she keeps up her artistic merit, I think she’ll continue to be one of the prominent gen-z stars. I thought GUTS was phenomenal. Very curious to see what she’ll do in the future.
I wish Billie did more edgy songs with harder beats like Bad Guy. Her new songs are great and so is her voice, but I remember checking her discography after Bad Guy and feeling a little bored with all the sad ballads. Similarly, I'm obsessed with Sabrina's new look and sound, but her old songs aren't captivating me much. Sabrina needs to pair up with someone who has a set idea for her music style besides just coquette lyrics or she'll be a three-hit wonder.
I feel like some of her new songs had some punch (L’Amour De Ma Vie’s breakdown at the end, Lunch) and the best song of the album is a ballad but is such an emotional, personal one that it gets a pass (Wildflower) but you’re right. I think the label tried to distance herself too much from “I’m fourteen and this is deep” territory that she morphed in too much with the rest of the popstars. Her big appeal was her IDGAF attitude in the hit songs on WWAFAWDWG and she kinda became a lamb when she was a lion. Not that it’s not good, but on HTE the best songs were its title track and NDA, which had that anger and edge from the first episode. Even she herself said she was surprised which songs took off and which ones didn’t. And about Sabrina - I’m glad she’s able to play with the sexuality aspect of her music because that has a market in itself. The Weeknd based his whole career on songs to play in the bedroom. I think singers are too caught up in the “vitality” of a song to actually make a song fully fleshed. And the whole idea of “viral” media is it’s huge and then it goes away shortly afterwards.
@@RANIAxxx777 um, Lizzo was mentioned and she's 36, Gracie is 25. That's besides the point though. He literally stated that the artists mentioned aren't necessarily born Gen Z artists, but artists who are brought up through Gen Z fans.
I think most of them have potential but I don't know how they could surpass what they did these years, I think tyla and sabrina will be only known for "water" and "espresso", hopefully I'm wrong
@@SnapeArgentoI think Tyla can break away from the water curse but Sabrina’s espresso curse seems way too big.. buts let’s see Olivia broke away from Drivers liscense with good 4 u and she broke away from that with vampire. Anything is possible
@@tonieandrade2073 true, I just think espresso really encapsulates her aesthetic, music style and also personality and it would probably be hard to do something without it feeling like an espresso 2.0, I don't know if her style will be the same for the next album, its different from emails I cant send but right now it's what people associate most with her, it's the hair, the flirty vibes, the 50s styled wardrobe, maybe she could do it if she acts smart, and tyla has dropped a few songs that are good but feel like they're water 2.0, she could really try something different and never seen before but she's still new and going for the safest choices, hopefully she doesn't disappear cause I like her a lot, the thing with Olivia is that drivers licence was her way of presenting herself to the public and we didn't know much about her, for a second it felt like a Taylor swift wannabe, that felt a lot more evident when deja vu came out and then it changed with good for you and brutal, she quickly made the smart move and went for something different so she wouldn't get stuck in this persona people initially got from her (that being the new taydaughter, which can look fun at first but its kinda like a curse that can end a career very quickly)
I think the link between social media and studio music has flipped the lasting power of artists. Every summer we have a completely new basically out of nowhere (in terms of popularity) artist who is "OMG the best artist of the century, nothing will top this". And then a year rolls around and theyre numbers and fandom basically dont exist. I feel like social media, influencer culture, and a "I discovered them first" attitude is crowning artists with success that based on how they work in getting users clicks and not based entirely on their natural appeal. I think we are heading into a shorter attention span era where you have a massive hit for one month then we are on to the next "genius" artist that just brings in a lot of clicks for tiktok or instagram.
If Pharrell was still making music, I think he could do wonders for Tate McCrae. I agree Chloe and Halle are better than others, and I think Flo has great potential. RN, the only true superstar is Billie Eilish, and I can see Sabrina also becoming a huge star.
although she wasn't mentioned in this video- i'm really rooting for normani. she is such a star, a natural born talent. she has all the factors to be a massive entertainer in the music industry. it makes me upset how little music we have from her- considering she's been a solo artist for awhile now. i really want to see this girl win & get her flowers that she deserves
Her record label doesn't like her. Plus the fact that it's difficult for a blk woman to succeed in today's music industry unless she is prepared to be heavily sexualised. She had already started to go down that road, maybe she didn't want to go any further.
Rina Sawayama's Debut album remains my favorite album of all time, from any artist. It's by far the most unique listening experience ever for me and it blends so many genres together and delivers a rare narrative of family, stereotypes and individuality. It currently stands as the 120th best rated album of all time on Metacritic with a score of 89. She was destined for success and while Hold the Girl wasn't as good as her debut it has some bangers. She was on a roll and her being john wick 3 pushed her even further. What stalled her momentum was involving herself in the New Jeans/ Min Heejin drama and calling out Matty Healy onstage. I hope she can give us more music soon....
Another example showing that personal songwriting doesn't equal 'putting someone on blast' is Charli XCX. On 'Brat' she has numerous intamte and confessional songs that don't do this. In 'Sympathy is a knife' she expresses her jealousy over another female artist and while most people think it's about taylor swift, it does not once put TS in a negative light. 'I might say something stupid' shows Charlie's inner struggle with the 'half-fame' she has received in the past and she opens up about her insecurities concerning that. In 'I think about it all the time' she expresses her fears on missing out on having kids in exchange for a career she isn't exactly happy with. Her also quite famous boyfriend George (member of the band 1985) is mentioned in this song numerous times but it does not ever 'put him on blast', yet is a very personal song. Any of these songs was more interesting than the entirety of Duas new album to me, tbh
I would say that Billie Eilish , Sabrina Carpenter & Olivia Rodrigo are the figureheads of Gen Z pop. Mainly because they're born in the era meaning they're actually Gen Z & they're influencing the next Gen Z artists that come after them as well as all of their music has been critically & commercially acclaimed & they all have distict style of artistry whether it's their songwriting, vocals,or stage presence. I would say at the end of this decade Billie,Olivia, and Sabrina would be considered the most popular & prominent artists to come out of this Gen Z pop era. I'm surprised Honest didn't mention Madison Beer at all. It would've been nice to know what he thinks of her & her trajectory as an artist moving forward in the Gen Z pop realm. I agree w/ Honest on Tate Mcrae though. I also think we need some Gen Z pop male artists though. Every era has had one or more & what I mean by that is the 70's had David Bowie. The 80's had George Michael , Prince & many more. The 90's had lots of Boybands. The 2000's had Justin Timberlake & Usher. The 2010's had Justin Bieber. Every era has had a prominent male pop artist or prominent male pop artists of their respective generation & This generation desperately needs it.
I feel the same way about the main pop male artist… but at the same time i feel that society has grown in a way that teen do not want to hear a man sing about basic little things and want more of a i need to feel identify with someone. And knowing the majority of pop music fans are girls and women… It will be hard for a boy to be as successful as Bieber this days. I am seeing USA and Spanish male singers flop but girls rise… As consumers we are tired of men. I also see it in reggaeton, loads of girls popped up lately and i feel bcs of the same reason.
@@laurahumara5417 I think people like male pop artists it's just that the industry really isn't pushing any. The only ones I can really think of would be Harry Styles & more recently Benson Boone.
The male pop stars have definitely been slacking this decade. Apart from Harry Styles, who already built himself a fanbase through his 1D days, no one else has really stood out the way the girlies have unfortunately. Shawn Mendes had some potential earlier but it went down the drain when he made dating Camila his whole personality and failed to become more interesting artistically.
Tyra is not a pop star. She is propped up by Black Twitter which is always seeking a new black queen to promote. But there is not enough sales behind her music to make her a star just yet. She isn’t even a top ten seller amongst African artists but of course she is plucked from obscurity because of her looks.
Black Twitter does not f with Tyla like that. There's always controversy about her and she's rarely propped by them. Plus she just became the fastest gold certified album by an African and she dominated the Afrobeats so she has no contemporaries in that regard.
I can only speak for myself but I think the “issue” is that I’m just not that invested, and perhaps a lot of others aren’t either. And when I say not invested I just mean I do the bare minimum when it comes to celebrities. In this case in terms of pop stars, I stream the music on the various platforms but that’s about it. I don’t care to watch interviews, documentaries, even attend concerts for these artists and it’s no hate or disrespect, I’m just focused on my own life. Putting my money in my pocket or other things important to me. Some of these artists are making good music and it’s nice to listen to in various activities during my day but that’s about all the love and support I can give. Obviously I’m just one person so I’m sure it doesn’t matter if I’m not that invested but unless these artists are doing something amazing or providing something beneficial to me (which you could argue is the music) then I simply just don’t care that much. I wish all these artists the best success, especially as a Gen Z’er myself but I also think these artists need to take under consideration what’s going on in the world and who has time for what or interest in what. Music is important but there are way more things you could argue are more important in our lives. And yes the same probably applies in the older generations but that’s not my territory to speak on. But as I said, some of these Gen Z artists are talented and I wish them all the best. But I need more than just catchy, pop, hyper sexualized music these days… it’s not serving me in any capacity. It’s nice to dance and groove to but that’s about it :/
No conan gray? This last album has potential, so many week songs but so many good ones, growth since his last release, and i can see him getting bigger and better.
I hope that Sabrina pushes away from the corporatification of her brand . It’s already peeking through with her more mainstream hits like please please please .. I hope she’s able to last though Edit: oooh i like the way you explained it
In the era in which we’re in now, we’re seeing the Music Industry and Hollywood shifting, therefore the era of the superstar isn’t as prominent, or as grand as it once was. And with this Generation, we’re plagued the comments of “They don’t make the stars like they used to” Which they don’t, or “The music doesn’t hit like it used to” Which it doesn’t. So it puts a lot of these artists in really tough spaces because they can’t come up with an identity and/or presence of their own. 🙏🏽 In the era of superstars of MJ/Madonna, and Beyonce/ The Weeknd/Britney/Rihanna, They uniquely forged their own identifiable paths and lanes that are still referenced and used today in Pop Music/Culture…They just weren’t artists with controversy and press they genuinely had/have great music that made that spoke to ppl! They had STRONG messages in their work that spanned on a global and international scale making them TRUE SUPERSTARS ✨🌟✨Today it’s having having a gimmick that appeals to a short-attention spanned youth that only keeps some of these artists relevant for a fleeting period of time! However, the artists that I see truly lasting and making their marks are Billie, Sabrina, Olivia, and TYLA… They have their own unique appeals and factors that really makes them special 🙏🏽🌟🪄
Ermmmm is Lizzo Gen Z? 😕 that was the most confusing addition. Why is she in a conversation on people born from the late 90s to 2024 when she was born in the 80s?!
Newer pop stars are so boring tbh..... they not superstars like the likes of Justin Biber, Christina Aguilera, Kylie Minogue and so on. It's like they can't create icons anymore!
Good evening: They boring AF. Seems like they tend to stay in their comfort zone. Seems like they're scared & terrified to take a chance. Personally sometimes I think they not really here for the music. Have a great night..!!

I personally loved Dua Lipa’s new album this year. I know it may not be on the level of as Future Nostalgia, but it still went number 1 in my house 😂 Cant wait to see her in concert next year!
I mean lizzo’s brand has always given “corporate self help slogans” basic girl boss statement/jargon / toxic positivity . So I’m not surprised her albums became the embodiment of what she was already “giving”
For me i think the problem with must of the singers that you mentioned is there music is just not memorable, yes they have very popularity songs but alot of the popularity i think comes from tiktok, nothing feels unique anymore by them i mean look at Britney for example she hasn't released music in years but to this day alot of her songs are still very popular, or even Taylor swift yes there is a lot of debate about her and her music but at least she is consistent and doesn't have a two albums that are really similar to each other people still remember her earlier songs by heart even if they are not fans.
I think the reason why Ayra is not mentioned is because she doesn’t have a a hit song/s (2024) or stand out like these musicians. She has songs but for some reason something is missing. There’s nothing bad about her but there’s that thing that’s missing
I am tired of the Ayra Starr erasure she just finished touring with Coldplay and is also Grammy nominated. In my opinion she has more range and hits than some people on this list.
Girl,, I can't name a song by her or even form the sound of her voice in my head.. pop stars used to be inescapableee. Pop music used to be ear worms that wasn't just heard in the car, it was in the grocery stores, entertainment venues, clubs, etc
I’d love if Billie started introducing more punky/rocky elements like in happier than ever. She’s into that genre & dresses the part, her voice is angelic so it could be tricky but I’d love to see her try it as I love how non conforming she is. I like that her bro is at her side cause we know it’s teaming with creeps & she needs to be protected at all costs.
I don't think America realizes how important Tyla really is before her yes there were some south african singers that made hits but none had a long impact even with today's time south africa tried giving you guys new popstars like Nasty C it didn't work but Tyla is something we didn't do she is unique having the SA amapiano sound but having western influences to make her relatable
Me praying to God she doesn't become a one hit wonder and gives us different eras/sounds. And also make her lyrics more catchy or impactful so they can linger in our minds for years rather than months
Billie is definitely the one undisputed superstar that's emerged from the Gen Z crop. Even though she and Finneas have a relatively small discography, the vast majority of their songs have an impact (100 million monthly listeners on Spotify - the only other artists who've managed to do that have over a decade a mainstream popularity and, in Swift and the Weeknd's case, many many more songs) and make their listeners feel something. Even if they use modern production elements/sounds, their songs don't feel too trendy...nor do they make music that's chasing or biting too hard from nostalgic sounds. The main criticism I'd have of the Gen Z popstars is the vocal talent is _starkly_ worse compared to past generations, aside from Chappell (and Rina Sawayama and, of course, Chloe x Halle, but they haven't had huge mainstream hits yet) - that'll affect their longevity. That said, though her voice isn't very strong, Eilish has good control over it, and wrings as much emotion from it as possible; of all the avocadies and bananies singers, her voice is the most affecting. Rodrigo - the second most consistent of the Gen Z popstars, IMO (who have more than one big album out) - has a decent voice in there as well, but she doesn't seem to have nearly enough training to make her live performances consistently enjoyable to listen to.
Back in my day (24F) you'd have to have at least 7 mega radio hits that were inescapable for YEARS to be considered a pop star no exaggeration. Do any of them fit the criteria?? *crickets*
I am curious Lis Nas X is someone I'm hoping for a great album with a bit more vulnerability, especially with the black Christianity background. I'm also hoping for Lizzo ❤. I think it's really hard being body positive because it's not a lot of space to have insecurities when that's your brand.
Actually with the rise of ozempic and other weight loss drugs, the body positivity movement boom 2017/22 is starting to come to an end. Lizzo herself has even lost weight
Tate and Sabrina will never be Britney, they are this generation’s Britney copy cats, there were many in the early 2000’s, being a Britney clone has never worked out for anyone long term
It’s cuz no one is putting these Gen Z artists on game .. they expect for everyone to love them and becoming the next top pop star and they feel entitled.. they don’t put in the work like that anymore they keep depending on TikTok and honestly I can’t wait for TikTok to go away cuz then we will really see who stands in the test of time
As much as I agree with you, when Tiktok disappears, Instagram reels or RUclips will replace it completely. We've entered a point of no return. Plus our big tech overlords want us to spend as much time as possible on their platforms so they're not getting rid of short form content for the "greater good"
@ idk cuz without TikTok most of these artists wouldn’t have existed.. and all these other reels that the other social media platforms have won’t hit the same as TikTok

If Sabrina stops kissing Taylor ass and be her own person
I agree. I really felt this when he was talking about Tate being the new Britney Spears
Oliva? I doubt that and Sabrina but Billie I think has more time
I’m ngl I haven’t heard anything about Olivia Rodrigo (outside of looking for it) in over a year, and I like Olivia Rodrigo.
Maybe she's on Britney's level dance-wise, but if you take away all that - she doesn't have the hits, lyrics or melodies that Britney had at all!
very true
True, i tried to give Sabrina's Taste a listen on spotify. It just doesn't feel the same as listening to the best bits in youtube shorts

Billie have vocals and can SANG that’s why she’s successful I hate when they say she whispered you can’t even sing or breath right who tf are you to judge
You’re absolutely right! Without the visuals Billie is still amazing
This should be the top comment. I hope you continue to explore older music and go back further than the 2000s.

@kaitlinmckinley3894 Cool!
Folks just romanticize the music from those eras because it didn't feel like the whole world was complete trash back then.

i really think dua stepped on the right path after her performance at the royal albert hall. the live album is amazing and she's thriving in that type of environment, especially with her soulful voice. her best choice would be to follow this route for DL4, she has way too much potential to just let her fade away
@user-wv9hb1ux9uThere’s nothing wrong with that tbh, and her songs do match who she is, not sure what you’re implying
@user-wv9hb1ux9u i meaaannn i agree to an extent that she has to show more personality, but what do you exactly mean by she's acting overly mature?
I really miss her underdogg grunchy era niw she is so fabricated
@@bangpd-nimoppar1589 I can't see the comment you're replying to, but I agree about her acting overly mature. I get a weird feeling whenever I hear her talk and just couldn't put my finger on it; it's her acting overly mature.
I watcher her interview with Stephen Cobert yesterday, and she does sound like 60-year-old actress from the 80's
She has a weekly newsletter and book club where she tries to be very philosophical all the time but then you listen to her music, which just doesn't match the image she's trying to sell.
But it is nice to see a normal adult like her that is just like the rest of us 🤍
And I think older people do like happy dance music and there’s no need to act like a 19 year old to sell that kind of music.
Dua Is a gen z or mileniall??
@Daniela18122 Gen Z started on 1997 and Dua Lipa was born on 1995 so she's a millennial
Chlo x Halle need to go back being a group. Cos this thing of them releasing solo pr nexts is not working
I agree! I really think they work best together. They focused on their solo careers to early imo
That’s how I feel, I get when Halle was filming and then promoting the little mermaid and the color purple. And then sure Halle could release her song. But I think they really needed to release as a duo summer to end of this year
Agree!! I feel like they should've built up musically on the success of Ungodly Hour and left the solo projects a little later.
yeah they were too eager to go solo.
Chloe only went solo so she wasn't sitting in limbo while Halle filmed The Little Mermaid.
I look at the two albums as a whole consecutive era kinda like the fame and the fame monster
@@aylapark7399 Yeah. Olivia is the one who pushed for it to be an album instead of an EP after drivers license blew up
The only Gen Z pop girl who, for now, seems like she will stand the test of time is Billie Eilish.
I think every other year is fine but im guessing its not juat music anymore, theres other deals to make.
“Katy Perrification” is crazy. 😂
Been saying this abt her

Nice analysis
@nodrvgs I think these girls need better management and a new vision that suits them
Aint nobody reading all that sis
With economic woes bubbling up across the globe, it’s possible that an antidote may be happy and upbeat music :)
As for Billie I never think of her as a pure pop artist, she's unique.

I love your thoughts. I agree with most of what you say. Also what a lot of people don't realize is that most pop stars only enjoy success with their first 2-3 albums, or within their first decade. And it's always been that way

She has created her own lane and she is not getting out off her artistic lane to get bigger
in my opinion, Billie gets more successful with each album she puts out
that's actually why she's big... also i LOVE her but her mvs this era have been lazy af

DId anyone notice how no one ever talked about Lil Nas X's Montero album? Like ever? We only talk about the singles and the gimmicks but I feel like NO ONE cares about the album itself.

Seeing the same with younger actors as well...many are just decent, have potential to master their craft, but appear in mostly "okay" to decent movies, and then the social media is full of them being the face of different advertisements and bank on being relatable or set up as a friend you know

No, they are right. The 2010s stars' songs at least lasted in the charts for several weeks on average. The new ones are just forgettable.

I think she is more
Focused on dancing which is fine but not when you’re trying to be compared to other artists who have vocal abilities that she hasn’t shown much of.

It seems tyla has bots pushing her career but no real grassroots growth globally. This stuff doesn't happen overnight. Hiphop existed for decades before it became known nationally and black americans had to fight for years to have our genres properly recognized. Songs were EVERYWHERE due to the radio back then.

oh GUTS was so good. I had it on repeat for MONTHS!
I actually appreciate her new album kinda showed a relaxed side of her but it was somewhat still edgy and sad
i was NOT expecting you to talk about rina. she's super underrated, truly the main pop girl that got away!
Everybody relied on algorithm n numbers. Instead of PEOPLE.
"Katy Perrification" is crazy😂 - 7:26
Gracie Abram’s not being mentioned is so real and funny lol
She’s not gen z
@@RANIAxxx777 She's Gen Z she was born in 1999
@@RANIAxxx777she is though. Older gen z, but still. Maybe she just wasn’t relevant enough for honest. 🥲😂
He was traumatized by her father’s Star Wars movies.
@@RANIAxxx777 um, Lizzo was mentioned and she's 36, Gracie is 25. That's besides the point though. He literally stated that the artists mentioned aren't necessarily born Gen Z artists, but artists who are brought up through Gen Z fans.
Billie and Olivia have what it takes for longevity imo. The others are good here and there but lack consistency
I think most of them have potential but I don't know how they could surpass what they did these years, I think tyla and sabrina will be only known for "water" and "espresso", hopefully I'm wrong
@@SnapeArgentoI think Tyla can break away from the water curse but Sabrina’s espresso curse seems way too big.. buts let’s see Olivia broke away from
Drivers liscense with good 4 u and she broke away from that with vampire.
Radical Optimism is an amazing album, I love every song on that album.
He is still making music.
pharell is still making music....he is still making hits
Billie is bland imo all time making sad girls music
@@anikamathur02 now she cant right about her life? and thats what makes her huge btw
@@pumpumrin no she can't btw she ruined pop for me btw she's a taylor 2.0
although she wasn't mentioned in this video- i'm really rooting for normani. she is such a star, a natural born talent. she has all the factors to be a massive entertainer in the music industry. it makes me upset how little music we have from her- considering she's been a solo artist for awhile now. i really want to see this girl win & get her flowers that she deserves
The problem with her i believe is that she is not committed enough
Okay but Dua never said putting someone on blast equates to personal song writing, it’s just something that she mentioned.
@makayla03333 Oh ... ok 👍
Tyla is younger she is the gen z girl right now !
Is tyla not talented ??
Ummm she’s not even blk she’s said that herself so I’m not sure what this is…
I can only speak for myself but I think the “issue” is that I’m just not that invested, and perhaps a lot of others aren’t either.
This last album has potential, so many week songs but so many good ones, growth since his last release, and i can see him getting bigger and better.
he's a flop with bad vocals
superstars don't exist anymore. Sabrina is not a Britney level superstar
agreed
agree, also because the industry is different nowadays,
I hope that Sabrina pushes away from the corporatification of her brand . It’s already peeking through with her more mainstream hits like please please please .. I hope she’s able to last though
Edit: oooh i like the way you explained it
chloe and halle said in an interview that they are working on the 3rd album!
NO WAY?
As a catholic I’m honestly so tired I wish this artists would leave us alone
7:26 I was not expecting that oml 😭
OMG I was so scared that you were going to say something mean about Tyla😊
I think she’s doing good so far and also growing a solid fanbase.
Ermmmm is Lizzo Gen Z? 😕 that was the most confusing addition. Why is she in a conversation on people born from the late 90s to 2024 when she was born in the 80s?!
Billie and Tyla are def the most interesting. Tate is good but they will never be another Britney Spears .
Tyla and Sabrina 💋💞
Are you paid to do Tyla's promotion ???? Cause l can't understand why you are posting so many messages with her name...@@Kaylagraci-kt7gm
Pretty sure people like...Hated Justin Bieber
@@fashionqueenstarfr like u guys are not going to gaslight me abt "ppl loved justin bieber". No tf yall didnt. There was hate campaigns, and grownass ppl dragging him and teen girls that liked his music. I hate when ppl try to rewrite history. Its like the beatles. Agreed with Chloe n Halle being better together.
I've never been this early omg 😂
Neither 😭
I personally loved Dua Lipa’s new album this year. I know it may not be on the level of as Future Nostalgia, but it still went number 1 in my house 😂 Cant wait to see her in concert next year!
You have talent in your analysis. I always enjoy your videos ❤.
Ayra starr could’ve been added to this list ngl
She sounds like a goat
She’s good but she’s not there yet. She will be if she keeps going
Billie Eilish being the biggest pop star of Gen Z Is exactly why GENZ has No popstars lol
Ijbol you are a jobless swiftards
Billie is amazing
Tyla definitely has lots of potential
Katy Perification 😂
Tyla doesn’t need the black Americans to be successful Latino and white Americans love her
Me praying to God she doesn't become a one hit wonder and gives us different eras/sounds.
*crickets*
I don’t want Sabrina Carpenter to end up like Meghan Trainor where all of her songs sound exactly the same.
Check Ethel Cain, trans woman with christianity background
yeah its weird its like all the gen z popstars are having mid life crisis and just flopping
Tate and Sabrina will never be Britney, they are this generation’s Britney copy cats, there were many in the early 2000’s, being a Britney clone has never worked out for anyone long term
Exactly. U Right.
What annoys me Is the way Tate refuses to credit Britney as an inspiration.
@babymario2099she has many times
god social media ruined everything
things were so much better in the 90's and 00's even early 2010's
@@coraliecadet90 that's also extremely true. TikTok ushered in the era of mediocrity
That's what I've been saying. Most of these Gen Z artists just don't cut it. Here today, gone tomorrow.
Sabrina needs to make her own sound. she sounds like every wannabe female pop stars out there
