This is brilliant. I've seen a ton of videos about Major scales and no one has ever tied them into the Circle of 5ths like you have - makes it much easier to remember. Many thanks for posting this.
Excellent Video clip! Apologies for chiming in, I would love your thoughts. Have you researched - Riddleagan Smart Hands Remedy (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a great exclusive product for learning piano fast minus the headache. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my best friend Jordan at last got excellent success with it.
I dont know why your videos click with me better than the others, but its great that they do! I gotta go back to the fundamentals to understand my composing better.
@TuneTwister Music This was great, I have been researching "all piano chords list" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Nonason Ranincoln Genie - (should be on google have a look )? It is a smashing exclusive product for discovering how to play the piano like a pro without the headache. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my mate got cool success with it.

I watch a lot of piano tutorials and this one should win an award for best explanation of the circle of fifths and the scales thank you I will be back many more times
FINALLY! someone that gets into it without the selling content stuff and adding phantom notes that are not part of the scale making confusing chords to LEARNING THE 12 KEYS. Thank you for keeping this simple.
Awesome! I think learning theory on the piano is great for any musician, it's such a visual instrument and it allows you to really see what's going on and how everything fits together!
Thank you for this so much dude. I'm a sophomore in highschool and I'm planning on taking music theory next year so that I can write my own music with enough practice so I'm trying to study so that it will be a lot easier, and this has helped alot
Thank You !!, I have understood more the Circle of 5ths with you , than any other video on the topic in the past 2-3 months studying Piano. thanks again lots of health
Nice tutorial mate! I found out if you wanna know the scale you just gotta skip a key 2 times, then dont skip a key and then skip a key 3 times. For example you begin on E, you skip the F, press Fsharp, skip G, press Gsharp, then dont skip a key and press A then again skip Asharp, press B, skip C press Csharp, skip D press Dsharp and you got the Emajor scale :D This works at least for every Major Scale, sorry i didnt know how to explain it in a simpler way
This is great stuff!!!! I've taken music theory courses in school and I did well. The only thing is that the classes in school were accelerated and I never really wrapped my head around advancing further. After I graduated, I stopped learning theory. I have time on my hands again to study theory. I went down the rabbit hole of RUclips videos and I came across your channel. I'm definitely having music theory deja vu and you sparked my mojo back. I watched this video and had a serious aha moment. Thanks for being such a great instructor. Your channel is my stop for piano lessons. Again, Thanks.
This video is wonderfull! I love it! Video's that contain practice helps people learn the major scales! I gave your video a thumps up and downloaded it and saved it! It's helping me learn the major scales! Thanks for the video!
Mate, your videos are under appreciated for the quality of contents you put. Hope you get popular. And thanks a lot for your time and effort to make these tutorials. Cheers.
Very helpful. When you said sharpen the 7th note of the previous scale.. It instantly clicked! Also when you go to Gb/F# to Db (still clockwise) it follows the same concept.
There is a stepwise formula to all major scales. Root note (the 1)- F# for example whole step (2nd) - G# whole step (3rd) - A# half step (4th) - B nat. Whole step (5th)- C# Whole step (6th) D# Whole step (7th) F nat. Half step (root)F# In other words, the fourth is a half step up from the third and the seventh is half a step down from the root note. Try leaving out the fourth and the seventh on any scale and youve just played a pentatonic. (All black keys starting with F# or C#) Pentatonic scales sound very nice and are a great way to get a feel for all the scales
Damn. Just now I see the pattern of how flats and sharps are added to the scale. It's so easy: for sharps just start with first of three black keys, then first of two keys, then second of three and so on... And, almost magically, it's always the key right before the tonic! For flats you do the same, but in the opposite direction. OOMMGG!!!
Another easy way to look at this... Choose the Major scale you wish to play. If you choose C, C is the ROOT -(the first note of the scale). If you choose A, A is the ROOT -(the first note of the scale) A 'half tone' is the next key - be it black or white - above or below the key you start on A 'whole tone' is 2 keys - be they black or white - above or below the key you start on. W=whole tone and H=half tone, So Let's choose the C scale: The construction will be - {R W W H W W W H} - (the last H could be replaced with an R because it is the ROOT an octave higher) {C D E F G A B C} OR - you could just remember for a Major scale there is a half tone between 3 & 4, and 7 & 8. For a Minor scale there is a half tone between 2 & 3, and 7 & 8.
Really great video! I love that you not only show the fingerings, the keyboard, but also the staff for those interested in learning that part of it in the early stages. For the A maj scale, it looks like your hand starts on A3 but the notation shows A4 as the starting place. Shouldn't the root note have been lower on the staff? Thanks again for the vid! Liked and subscribed.
Piano Nakata it would stay sharp. The key(the left of the sheet music staff) has either sharps or flats. If it have flats you play those flats unless there is a natural sign. To end this it would stay the same sharp up and down, flat up and down.
Now that I am retired I am picking up the piano and Tenor Sax after a 30-year layoff. I have been pleasantly surprised that it is coming back as fast as it is. Thank you for some excellent videos.
mindblowing, even my tiny brain can comprehend 😭. I am not sure but what I understand is we need to go back counterclockwise one step, then 5 step clockwise to get what the flats or sharps are. Edit: is it correct that.... Major scale: 1CCW - 5CW - Minor scale: 2CW - 4CCW?
I found you through the suggested videos. First, your videos are very funny and informative. I just made a RUclips channel about the song writing, so l ‘m definitely doing my research. Thanks for all your help. Please keep it up! Just subbed!
When you discuss the pattern of understanding which notes that you should sharpen, you don't really explain it enough. You mentioned previously that you're sharpening the 7th note of each major scale that you're playing in, but when it came to the key of A, you just tell the audience to sharpen the 7th as mentioned but to also sharpen F and C. If you explained it in terms of TTSTTTS (Tones/Semitones Major Scales Formula), then I'm sure that many viewers will appreciate it!
Theres also an other technique, I call it the 3-4 7-8 rule. You begin with the "base" note and go a whole step above, keep doing it until your 3rd note, you then go a half step up, and continue with whole steps. You will do this twice once at 3-4 and at 7-8. Hence the name.
It is posible to do this same technique but applied in minor escales? Iam saying because this technique had been the definitive one to learn Major scales by memory! You are amazing, thank you for your knowledge!

@@youmadbro7733 yeah because you can work them out by using the circle of fifths
