it’s crazy how many guys we saw blow up and have their moment yet faded away, whereas guys like Carti and especially Tyler were never the biggest, but focused on their fanbase and making good music, and were able to outlast and surpass most rappers who were bigger than them at one point
carti focusing on his fan base is something i never thought someone would say
Nah

JID and Denzel already have dropped classic albums, its just a matter of when they find mainstream success. Tyler is my personal favorite rapper atm and I think he'll definitely be the face of hip hop for years to come
Personally I just don’t think they have the industry push both them are great artists but I think it’s politics that is holding them back
JID's def gonna be next Kendrick, both of them have mainstream appeal, and fantastic lyricism with actual artistic projects. He's not really underrated as many ppl say imo. Denzel is more going to buy a Tyler figure, in the mainstream but not as mainstream as drake or the like
Zel will be there.
it so unfortunate considering how consistent Denzel is, i would compare it to how good jay z discog is being at least amazing/good albums. zel's are all ABOVEor equal to a 7/10, and hey, 7 is not bad at all. I gave utopia a 7.5/10 so that saying something@@KingOfThePiratesOfTheHill
tyler is our kanye, jid is out kendrick, though i’m not sure who is the next drake, or if there will be one. though i see baby keem being a top 3 rapper once he starts dropping consistently
I have my faith in Keem and JID, they've done phenomenal works in recent years. Both are incredibly talented and are destined to rise the face of hip-hop once again, as long as they keep continuing what they're doing, they will definitely be successful. Keem has a stepping stone while JID is trying to dig through with pure talent.
Agreed, it seems like JCole is the mentor for JID and Kendrick for Baby Keem, and for drake, I would actually put my money on jack harlow
If Kendrick lil wack ass cousin become one of the top rappers I'll give up on this shit
jid is too old but baby keem for sure could do it
@@sjaym509 explain the jack harlow thing? i know jid and cole are both dreamville, and kendrick and keem are both pglang and cousins, but i cant even think of 1 song that jack and drake have together.

If Baby Keem can continue the momentum he's built from the Melodic Blue and The Hillbillies he seems destined to be one of the faces of hip hop for this next generation
Yea I agree that + Kendrick seems to kind of be a mentor for him I have a lot of hope for him
i agree
honestly, jpegmafia has a really good chance to be one of the best artists of all time. he revolutionized experimental hiphop, his production style is some of the best production i've ever heard and he's honestly never missed on an album. now that he's starting to get a little more mainstream, he has a really good chance on becoming a mount rushmore rapper.
I dont think everybody can listen to his music, at least the last album. I think he is the underground goat and thats his spot
@@alexandredeschenes8955 he's proved a few times now that he can go pop and make mainstream music if he wants to. (look at All My Heroes Are Cornballs or even stuff of LP)
i think if you're not a fan of experimental music, or just his style in general then his music isn't for you, but he definitely has the potential to make music that everyone can love if he wants to.
peggy to me is kinda like a spiritual successor to mf doom bc he will never break into the mainstream but i think his music will age fantastically and he’ll be remembered as the king of the underground of this generation
@@jenconvertibles peggy is heavily influenced by doom, and he's showed love to him multiple times so that makes sense. i think peggy will have a break into the mainstream sometime though. that might just be hopeful thinking, considering he's my favorite artist of all time, but i do think he'll break into mainstream popularity at some point in his career.
@@comfycozyrosey he’s probably in my top 5 too but i just don’t see him coming through to the mainstream. i guess we’ll see tho

Tyler has been in the game since the late 2000s🤣🤣 hes literally kendricks peer in the game
oh no you're losing your bucks
Keem? LMAO!
I feel like at this point j cole, drake, kendrick still have a decent amount of their career left granted J cole only plans to make 2 more albums but besides that they still have music to make, there are also artists like Kanye that while the peak of their career is over still have at least an album or more left. I think in that time we will see more talent coming up
I guess another thing to mention backing this is they are all still in there mid 30's kanye dropped Tlop, ksg, ye, jik, and donda after the age of 39 I really feel like our current top 3 still have at least 5-10 years left
For what it’s worth I think Cole will go the 50 Cent route where he focuses on his next venture and retires out of the music business. Kendrick will be what Lil Wayne was to Drake but for Keem. Drake will probably be the only one who is actively making music.
@@TheWutangclan1995 I agree with this a lot it makes since. I mean Drake is just super main stream and the most commercially successful out of the group so I'd give him a sold 10+ years. Kendrick is already super involved with keem and it runs in the family so I could see him as a mentor. And Cole for sure feels like he would make a business unlike 50 cent though I feel like he would be a lot more quite considering how secretive he is about his private life at least more than most artists, I could see him doing something with sports becuase he already has dabbled with it. This is honestly what I hope for I think it would be a great resolve to the current big 3.
@@TheWutangclan1995you’re spot on. unfortunate to see drake never tried being someone’s lil wayne. though drake doesn’t strike me as selfless enough to hand over his spotlight
y’all talking about artists that are already popular, i think kaycyy looks super promising
im starting to realise that the rappers you mentioned in the start of the video are what pushed the culture forward from the pandemic days of 2020 to where we currently are
It sucks to think X & Juice WRLD would’ve been the stamping goats for the 2020’s
And Pop Smoke or Lil Peep we would’ve had emo rap scene even bigger today if they we’re still with us
not rlly cuz he really only got worldwide coverage when he died

@@jaycyclondo it's already aging like fine wine and is his best work to alot of people
Assuming he actually drops an album sometime this century, and it lives up to the hype, Playboi Carti is definitely a contender. His influence is already easy to see, especially in the underground scene, where entire subgenres have emerged in the wake of WLR.
I agree that the way we consume music has changed, and in a lot of ways spells the end of the megastar as we have come to know it. The ease of accessibility for new niche underground music that appeals to the specific tastes of smaller but still significant groups of people, combined with the lack of memory for things that aren't immediately in front of us creates an environment where if you aren't dropping every year then people lose interest. Only big names can afford to take time to craft their next project with care and precision. And so that pressure to be prolific means up and coming new artists focus on quantity over quality, making the release of a bad project an inevitability, and often ends their career, or at least stops them from becoming a superstar. And even if they manage to consistently release good music once or twice a year, the music often falls short of its potential had they been able to spend more time working on certain concepts and ideas.
Of currently well established rappers, Future, 21 Savage, and (assuming he doesn't end up spending the next 10+ years in jail) Young Thug all fit the criteria, although they're also all more or less contemporaries of Drake Cole and Kendrick. But so is Tyler, who's been around since 2010. All these dudes are around the same age, most in their late 20's-early 30's. Not sure exactly how old Drake and Cole are, but none of these dudes are pushing 40 just yet.
Jpegmafia is criminally underrated and is the next Kanye in my opinion. If he maintains the same consistency and doesent fall off, he could be the goat
Hes getting more popular gradually with scaring the hoes being the only quality album we’ve had this year up until Utopia dropped, hopefully his next album is a major breakthrough, but his sound just doesn’t seem to have any mainstream appeal. He could turn into this generations MF DOOM, mostly sharing similarities in being underrated due to their sound but being incredibly talented artists that true hiphop fans will appreciate and respect
Nope
@@jaycyclondo I can agree with this, and part of the me doesent want him to be mainstream, so I can completely see him being like MF DOOM in this sense.

I would say J.I.D dropped his classic album with The Forever Story

I think the real next kings are in the underground underground. I mean the people with like way below a million monthly listeners. Everyone you talked about in this video are well into their careers aside from keem. and most of them had huge success already, especially Travis and Tyler.
Yea man definitely. As an artist myself I like to look around to see what else is floating in the space and honestly some of the best talent comes from the unknown names.
I agree 💯 probably a teenager not anyone that’s currently 20+ and would end up being a good ass rapper and “king of hiphop” baby keem etc I look at them and I don’t have the same vibe as I have from drake,Kendrick,Kanye etc the vibe of a rap legend type shit
Don’t get me wrong the rappers like Tyler ,baby keem, jid etc will be famous but on drake Kendrick kanye level nah,it’ll be someone that’s currently unknown fasho
JID, Tyler, Denzel, Jpeg and Keem that’s gonna be top 5

Danny Brown has classic albums (atrocity exhibition and xxx), showed his versatile in AE by just how he raps on beats that no rappers would even think on rapping on.
He's only lacking is mainstream success and charts, he's been on this for I think 20 years even before hybrid, his supposed debut but he fails to appeal because of his experimental music and just how he doesn't want to make hits but push boundaries.
His closest thing to charting and achieving mainstream success was the track; Really Doe which features; Ab-soul, Earl Sweatshirt and Kendrick Lamar. Basically meaning his features were a huge part for that charting
I doubt he’ll make it mainstream, considering he’s still in debt after AE, and experimental hip hop is still rather new. But it’s a thought
Danny Brown is 40 lol
Surprising you didn’t mention Carti, he filled out all your criteria and I feel like he’s constantly improving and literally inspiring generations of rappers with his sound.
man i hope JID and Denzel do, they really need that recognition same with Joey Badass, he just needs to drop more songs man.
UTOPIA rave reviews knocked me out
With how fast trends have came and gone I still think it’s possible that person we will all pretty much agree is the goat of the generation maybe just starting out
yea thats very true. I mean I hate to say it but social media the way it is right now will really make a dramatic affect on the music industry and it already has also the rise of streaming platforms. But I worry that we will get to a point that we will move through artists to fast.
Can’t forget about Griselda!
Westside Gunn is 40 and Benny and Conway are 38. They’ve all been thinking of retiring
there will never be a “big three” again.
hip-hop is going experimental / underground.
the future will not be mainstream.
there is always a “big three”. Even before hiphop was a mainstream thing, back in the early days you had your Big Daddy Kane, LL Cool J, Rakim front 3. And hiphop is literally still in its peak for mainstream popularity. The experimental stuff your hearing now will become the mainstream soon. Trap was a gimmick at one point and now its what oldheads think of when they hear the term “new rap”. Hiphop is built upon evolution, no decade sounds remotely similar
I’ll say jid (lyricism and protege of j cole), Travis (mainstream appeal and protege of Kanye), and idk the 3rd but I think we’ll find out who is the 3rd because they’ll drop a classic album next year
3rd goes to Denzel Curry coz he has 4 great albums that people can't even choose a favourite from and easily one of the most versatile rappers of all time

denzel & j.i.d too
everybody with a young audience has had a hard time selling tickets because people are broke

One thing to say is when it comes to growth JID is a slow burner his monthly listeners have been steadily increasing for almost 3 years peaking at like 25 mil on Spotify I think he has the game in hid grip with the next release
He reached 35 million at one point
Jpegmafia and playboi carti are the breath of fresh air that hiphop needs. Tyler and travis are already insanely commercially successful. Travis overtook drake on monthly plays already and tyler sells out stadiums and even hosts his own music festivals… they already took the thrown in my book.
That will swing right back to Drake when he drops his album.

I wouldn't bet on any of the guys mentioned, the next greatest rapper will be someone who towers over any debate over if he's the one, all of the ones you mentioned have been in the game for too long and seem to have done pretty well for themselves respectfully.
The next guy must be hungry, he must be the hungriest, most talented, polarising man in the world to lift the bar from where Kendrick and those before him left it, and to be the next greatest he must lift the bar again, which I don't see any of the current rappers in the game doing.
Same I agree ,I feel like the next set of rappers to beat drake Kendrick Kanye etc will be a few rappers that are teenagers/young and are very unknown at the moment

Some of yall might come for me for this but I really believe juice wrld would of have been handed the torch. He was a certified hitmaker, unique voice & sound, had pop sensibilty, incredibly versatile, a huge, rapidly growing die hard fanbase BEFORE his passing, was constantly getting better from the sheer amount of songs he was producing everyday. Off top game was arguably one of the best. Not to mention his first album was an insant classic.
What could of been man 😔
I feel like the big 3 of this current era would’ve been Juice, X and Pop Smoke and since we lost them all so young there’s just been a void for the past 3-5 years that hasn’t been filled yet
@@kobcritic624that’s facts that’s why there’s no clear Big 3 for this decade yet is because the obvious answers all died young. Each one had mainstream success and versatility while pushing the genre forward. Pop Smoke would be evolving drill if he was still with us while X would still be making the best emo rap albums and Juice would have even more hit heartbreak songs.
juice wld become a drake figure, i feel like x would lose the traction hes built and pop smoke doesnt seem like he’d be able to experiment too much out of his own lane, while still putting out bangers, kind of like a Future maybe?
@@jaycyclondo i see the juice and drake similarity, but i dont think x would lose his traction. he is insanely known and he has experimented so heavily in his music that i think no matter what he would have a big fanbase still.
Ritchie with a T will probably be the rap underground goat alongside Parker on that duo By Storm
Tyler is already a goat named Felicia lol.
But srsly, he's the only one I see continuing to progress on all fronts for a while. He's been steadily evolving and honing his craft since the beginning of his career while marching to the beat of his own drum, which I imagine is not easy to do in a genre that's all about competition. He's also been around as long as Drake, Kendrick and Cole despite being several years younger than them. Even with all his success he's accrued in recent years, I don't think he's peaked yet and honestly, I feel like his influence on various parts of the music industry and the inroads he has made in Hip-Hop since the days of Odd Future is oft overlooked and uncredited. All of that to say about him as just a rap artist, we haven't even touched on him being a complete auteur which is uncommon in not just Hip-Hop, but popular music in general. There isn't an aspect of his art, musically or visually, that he isn't either driving or solely responsible for. He wears his namesake well.
If you can't already tell, he's already heading towards legend status in my eyes lol.
So were just gonna act like the forever story aint a classic alb 🙄
