I wish Jeff would make some easy-to-understand videos that explain specific connectivity scenarios using specific devices so that DP's and Gaffers who've never used wireless lighting controls could grasp the cost and complexity involved in a typical setup that could be used on a small corporate/commercial shoot with maybe 10 fixtures. Back in 2020 when I was considering this I ended up just getting a DMX-it since I could just pull it out of the box and start using it.
Right, and for some the next step is an all in one unit like a Gaffers Control or a Control One. If you go with Blackout you need to pair it with a transmitter. An AKS is an example of a robust transmitter that can handle one universe. Lumen Radio also offers transmitters, such as the Stardust that can handle up to 8 universes. Jeff does have some explainer videos, but they move along at quite a clip🙂
Let me know what you'd like to see - happy to make more! I have a few to checkout maybe you haven't seen: Aurora example -ruclips.net/video/Q34iPeb9HpM/видео.html, full guide with hardware - ruclips.net/video/9T8mZC-jKi0/видео.html, configure a gateway - ruclips.net/video/nzXLuWZ_njg/видео.html, hardware connection guide - ruclips.net/video/XcAO7W0halo/видео.html
Thanks! Haven't looked at the BlackoutApp channel in a long time and I can see now you've already got what I'm looking for. Looks like the Luna + Blackout is the way to go for easy entry. Need to get an iPad first though. How old of an iPad will be fast enough to run Blackout for a simple 5-10 fixture setup?
@@TimTylerCine I think anything after 2019 would be fine with that, but if you wanted to do anything like effects, I'd get any new iPad - the processors are exponentially better than anything old
Doesn't matter. This software is basically a Chinese knockoff version of ETC Eos software. Don't buy it. Just get an Eos dongle for the same price and use your laptop instead.

Thank you so much Luke! It was really great meeting you and it's an honor to be on your channel!
Dear Jeff, why do i have the feeling of sitting on a ETC Eos-family Desk when i use BlackOut App?
Will you ever make a Blackout for android or Windows?
I would ask this on the Blackout FB group page.
Jeff is absolutely the best, I really appreciate everything he is done with Blackout! 🙌🏾 🎥 👍🏾
Good stuff! Thanx for the up-load!
SO excited for 2.0!

Trying to convince my school to buy this. Solely because I've seen you use it. 🙏

Hello, which MIDI controller is recommended for use with blackout 2.0?
I don’t have a list. I think everyone is waiting for the official roll out and then having discussions about what works well with it.
Is this app written in Native Script? And not Swift?

@jordanhenshaw Why the slander and desire to spread false information?
@@meetthegaffer why are you replying when you see "slander" but not when i asked fing question 4 months ago?

What is the cost of the upgrade for Blackout 1.0 users?
Blackout 2.0 is going to be a FREE. update!
A $500 iPad app that's basically a chinese knockoff version of the ETC Eos software. This guy's a copycat who steals IP.
Seriously, what are you basing this on, heresy? Why the vitriol? What is at stake for you?
