    This is great content. For a non-American and avid history fan, I enjoy listening to you dig in to a bit of New York's history as you build up the very place you are talking about.

    i think you had it right, it used to be cool. But cool can't be caught in a bottle, once something becomes officially 'cool' it's marked for death. Market forces were always going to strangle Williamsburg as happens to every other cool place. It's the circle of life.

    • @ithinkyouknow
      @ithinkyouknow  2 года назад +2

      Totally agree with you. Once the masses know something is cool... It's well past being actually cool. Still was funny to me that when I lived in wburg all my friends made the typical hipster jokes. But that scene had well since moved on to Bushwick

    • @JeremyThunder
      @JeremyThunder 2 года назад

      @@ithinkyouknow it's funny because i lived in bushwick during the time that williamsburh was cool, then by the time you're referencing where your average person would use the term "williamsburg hipster" i had already been priced out of bushwick lol. Now it's happening to me again in Ridgewood. Forever riding the worst part of the gentrification wave, watching stuff start to get cool just in time to get the boot when its actually fun

    • @ithinkyouknow
      @ithinkyouknow  2 года назад +1

      That sucks I'm sorry. Ridgewood and Bushwick are both great but have changed so much. Where is the next 'cool' place you think?

    • @JeremyThunder
      @JeremyThunder 2 года назад +1

      @@ithinkyouknow haha it's alright, i end up with the benefit of cheap rent and proximity to The Cool Place. Next cool place i think is a jump ball between Maspeth and Ocean Hill, depending on how work-from-home develops over the next year. There are a lot of cool things happening in Maspeth but it has terrible transit access, so if WFH really is just a blip it's going to fizzle out. Ocean Hill is just the next logical stop on the L train's path of destruction.

    Williamsburgh was the town of Boschwijck, a Dutch town.
    Before the Boody English, it was all Dutch here.
    Refugees made their little Berlin of it in the late 19 century, what it still is now. active street levels, old buildings, improvising, that is what the people of Williamsburgh like now!

    Genuine question, what's the difference between complaints about gentrification and NIMBY complaints about "neighbourhood character"?

    • @JeremyThunder
      @JeremyThunder 2 года назад +1

      "Neighborhood character" is mostly about aesthetic and comfort, gentrification is about working class people needing a place they can afford to live in

    • @Gregq96
      @Gregq96 2 года назад

      The 'Neighborhood Character' is used to keep others out

    What’s are your computer specs? Freakin incredible work you do… would love to know what your computer is like? Mine bogs down after 30,000 people with about 350 mods downloaded. Thanks!!

      Specs are in the video descriptions. But mostly it's the 5900x and 32gb ram that help run the game
