Although I like the original on its own, the design looks too audacious for New York, seems more like something they’d construct in London. Which was Larry Silverstein argument. I’d honestly prefer an entirely new design, an innocuous one that’s congruent with its surroundings.

I would take the trolley over the 59st Bridge when it passed over Welfare Island ,the name back in the 1920s till 1973...we lived on 24 St .2 blocks off the plaza.You can take the Q60 or Q32 bus over the bridge.

I know this video is old but fyi, The Toll booth on the northern side sort of curves then goes into the bridge, so if looking at it form the bridge going vertical, it would be slightly further right.

They don't talk about how most congestion is caused by emergency vehicles in indle. Also how 55% of their billions goes into payroll, only 25% of their billions goes into actual repairs/services. I would say the 2nd. I actually grew up 3 houses away from Ingels, so i know him, and thats probably also why. I mean, Denmark is a small country, so who cant say no to a danish design :)

In my opinion, what made the original complex much better than the current one is how cohesive it was. You had the Twin Towers, and then you had buildings 3-6 in front of them, which were no taller than 20 stories. By having it so, no other building within the complex stole the spotlight from tower 1 and 2, or obstruct them from the East. The original WTC complex contained buildings 1-6, with WTC 7 as an outlier. The current one has the buildings scattered all over the place and divided by streets, making them feel more like individual buildings. For those that want a twin, it will not work. There is no staggering of the buildings, so the effect will not be the same, and it was this staggering that made the Twins so iconic, and look beautiful from every angle.

I'd rather see another freedom tower but without the antenna there. The other buildings, they're not great looking at all. They should make it look like New York Make it look like they updated the buildings

First design is the one that deserves to be built. A bit taller maybe.

As a visiting British person I always stay in the Pod Hotels, either Brooklyn or E39st or E51st. I come to New York to explore so I only use my room to shower and sleep and they are exceptional value for that purpose. I think I’ve explored most of manhattan and northern Brooklyn down as far as Myrtle Ave now. I love Bushwick because of the street art, walking along Myrtle Ave under the tracks feels very film set like to me and I find that intoxicating. In Manhattan I’ve not been north of Central Park. I know New York better than I know London now, I must have walked a hundreds of miles in NY over the last decade, usually average 10-12 miles a day for a week at a time 😂
