@3:30 It's not that Sunny didn't like playing the violin. On the contrary, he loved playing violin with his sister. What he hated was the tutor arriving at such an inopportune time that caused him to miss an hour with his friends, and all the constant practicing for perfection. If the tutor business wasn't going on, and if Mari wasn't treating the music like a 2nd job, Sunny would have been the happiest kid in the world.
yeah, thats the sad thing about it. they made him hate violin. if he wasnt so pressured at it and was allowed to just enjoy it like he wanted to, he wouldnt have had that breakdown that caused him to destroy it. poor kid just wanted to do something fun with his big sister :/
yeah. whats so sad about it is that he mainly started violin just so he could spent more time with his sister. he didnt want to be good at it, he just loved her and wanted to spend more time with her.
Also the toaster in the black space treehouse says "toast", "friend", and "toast?" Omori kills his friends over and over again, just as Sunny did to Mari
Omori can feel extreme emotions (Furious,Miserable and Manic), foreshadowing that he is going to be an enemy as rest of the party can't feel extreme emotions while bosses can
Also, the only person that never forgets about rescuing Basil is Mari, this foreshadows that, no matter how hard Sunny tries to hide the truth, there's always a part of him that will help him to remember it.
Yeah… about that… she does forget about Basil entirely. Despite taking the longest to forget about him and being the one that continually reminds the group about finding him, in the end she does end up forgetting about him. I think your point still stands though because she continually has the strongest memory of him and is constantly reminding the group of their goal (a good example is when you go to the sage point outside Last Resort for the first time)
It seems like it. I feel like Sunny's headspace is a real world created inside his head. The characters are aware of their surroundings and even are older than the age when headspace was made
I've always considered Sunny as being psychic He literally spawned in a bottle cap after the real world dungeon And even if you do the hikkikomori route, Sunny knows what happens via Basil I love seeing the Mari hallucinations... It makes me feel like she's still watching him. And I like that idea.
I think it's clear that mari's ghost is there until she can part until she gives sunny the pushes to find the truth for good so she can rest in peace. because after you encounter the real mari (the one that guides you and then vanishes into the window) the fake headspace mari will leave a weird comment why you would stare at her like that and if everything is okay. I also think hellmari is the real mari (decomposed real life mari) and not only in his mind but the mari spirit as well. remember, she is dead. so this "she loves sunny she is an angel " is just an interpretation but if sunny ignores the truth , the hellish side of her could be just go active as well
Sunny is an extremely unreliable narrator, and hallucinates at several different points in the game. For all we know, he might have been playing the piano himself while imagining Mari, since he's shown to know how to play the piano in one of the tapes in Headspace.
The background used for the Error Window fight and only that fight threw me for a loop, that it doubles as both foreshadowing and a reference. You did it! vs. "You did it!"
i have a theory on HEADSPACE BASIL when he comes back to the crew on the hikkomori route, that's a fake basil that headspace made. the real headspace basil got all that knowledge from black space, and then became stranger
There's also the obvious fact that the "something" eye is actually the face of Mari's hanging body from Omori's perspective, with her face as the white part of the eye, her uncovered eye as the pupil, and her drooping hair as the stuff around the "eye". Another thing I caught while replaying the game is that the head of "something in the walls" (the arachnophobia something creature) has an even clearer representation of mari's head, since the "eye" is tilted in the correct angle, the hair looks like actual hair.
oh i just thought that the emotion chart showed which character works best with which emotion: kel is fast so his run 'n gun will do more damage when happy aubrey is a heavy hitter so does more damage when angry hero is the tank/healer so he gets more defense when sad but still, thx for the info
Also that kid in Orange Oasis got threatened with being sent there if he didn't behave - imagine that meme like "I killed a man, and you?" with Abbi and some kid who didn't eat their vegetables
It is implied by others that Sunny’s dad found out what he did and left. The mother also, which is why we never see her, and only interact with her over voicemail because she can’t bare to be near him, but does not want to lose another child.
I mean you think about it a bit. I'm sure an autopsy was done. Could've easily deemed it a suicide and moved on... or maybe They'd realize some fractures are there that couldn't have happened from a hanging. Although having no concrete proof doctors can only speculate what happened, but the information naturally couldve been relayed to Sunny's parents and realized what really happend ... It wasn't a perfect crime both Basil and Sunny were like 12. Blood on the violin, blood on the recital sheet. She was taken to her bed. The sheets might've been dampened too. Dad was probably convinced by mom to cut the tree down and move on. Dad cut the tree down but couldn't forget his sons actions so he leaves. Mom slowly detaches from Sunny, she'll always be her mother but she knows deep down what he did.
Something I want to add towards Humphrey theory is that maybe is true that omori didn't want to reach black space so it made Humphrey to stop him but there were other times in which sunny successfully reaches black space because strangers says another time again here, have you come to face the truth or to take a glimpse and repeat everything again.
Its not a foreshadowing, but one of Mari's lines says that she'll always be watching over Sunny. Every single Something encounter is just Mari sneaking away from the 'safety' of the picnic mat to secretly look after us.
Also foreshadowing or maybe symbolism is: Sweetheart as Mari (or what Sunny was afraid Mari would be like if he ever disappointed her), Spaceboy as Sunny and his name-changing violent alter ego that comes out when he's angry as both Omori (who eventually fights Sunny) and how Sunny interpreted his experience in fight-or-flight mode when Mari was yelling at him that caused him to push her, finding a piece of music that was important to Spaceboy and Sweetheart to unlock the fight with said violent alter ego and help Spaceboy move on, the fact that the only place violins are in the soundtrack in Headspace is in Sweetheart's castle I'm pretty sure (also her castle theme(s) is a waltz with piano and violin as "Wandering" and violin alone as "Stationary", just like how Sunny stayed inside after Mari's death), the fact that Sweetheart's castle is behind a barrier you have to smash through and has several Black Space 2 entrances and the Lost Library as well as violin, Spaceboy still having his crew (all of whom are named variants onthe word "friend") and one parent and that helping him get over Sweetheart, Space Ex-Husband dealing with his pain in the same way Sunny did by becoming Omori (of course on that route Omori will never be made to feel anything again), Aubrey and Kel fighting and Basil being knocked over from a fight and his photos (their memories) falling out and that leads to Basil finding the smashed violin photo and kicking off the plot, the single daisy in Rain Area (daisies represent, among other things, loyal love and the idea of "I'll never tell"), and probably other stuff I'm forgetting! Also this isn't *fore*shadowing because it plays right when you find the truth, but Remina is animer backwards and animer is French for to animate or enliven, and the opposite of "enliven" is "kill", so basically the track is named a fancy version of "unalive"!
a couple more bits of foreshadowing: -in the vast forest there's a small area that has a tree and a tire swing, when you first enter that area you see Something on top of the swing, the tire swing looks like a noose -in basil's garden, the first flowers that begin to die are the sunflowers, which were meant to represent mari
also, one thing i noticed while re-playing Omori yesterday, the sprite for the 2nd SOMETHING fight (fear of drowning) has two vines that look like a person hanging. I'm pretty sure you can only see them before you use Persist for the first time though
Whenever I think of foreshadowing, I always recall that one time where SOMETHING chases you from the barn in Outerworld. The light bulb above the family painting slightly resembles a noose as well.
0:58 this and 2:23 scare me the most 💀 3:51 and I genuinely thought this wasn’t a hallucination- I thought this was Mari’s spirit due to hero claiming he heard a piano go off
I don’t think any of the parents knew about it, because I don’t exactly remember where, maybe the forgotten library, but it says that only 2 people know of the truth, and one of them brought it to their grave. Basil and Mari. I think the dad said that because he was mad that sunny didn’t know why Mari “did it” and couldn’t stay there anymore because of his own guilt. So, he projected his anger towards himself to sunny. Just a theory though!

your theory about humphrey is wrong I think, because if that was the case omori wouldn't just win the battle against humphrey, as you mentioned in the video omori don't want sunny to learn the truth but I think sunny wants to know it
But I don’t think those parts of Sunny are in harmony, otherwise the truth wouldn’t slip at all - Omori defeating the enemies does make sense to me in a way
