In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.
Julian's dry, weary wit is so perfectly played off of Sam's absurd humor and and Lucy's bright, shiny silliness. I want to watch the three of them on a road trip, preferably solving crimes along the way.
Or doing crimes
Lucy couldn't solve a crime even if she was the one who committed it.
I love that his languidly weary facade, so firmly in place in all his interactions with Alex, regularly cracks in response to the craziness of the other two.
Honestly I'd love this spin-off. Make the two Sue's the murderers they're chasing and I'm in.
Someone pls write a fanfic
Julian brings the absolute perfect amount of "tired gay uncle" energy to this cast. Which is a weirdly specific vibe that I now can't imagine the show without.
I think with all the high energy in the lineup, Butch does a really good job at balancing it out.
Although the crown of crazy has to go to Lucyfer the Rock God
More than enough references about his personal lifestyle.
The way he deals with Alex is just hilarious.
Oh boy how specific
Well he will not you forget he is gay, almost in every task, I'm not from UK, and I don't know him, but gets annoying after while, like he is only famous for been gay
Oh god, “hope you like anthrax!”, “whoever you are”…this episode is a book of quotes all on its own
these were my biggest laughs of the ep!! 😂
Just the way he said it! Like he was regretting it coming out of his mouth but by golly he did it with gusto!
Julian: "soiled your floor, Alex"
Alex: "It's seen worse"
**Sudden flashback to Sarah Millican in the lab with the milk** 😂🥛
That was my first thought, as well!!
Or Romesh’s watermelon vomit 😁🍉
Damn that poor lab has been through a lot!! @@anski00
@@anski00 I put that one out of my mind because I hate watermelon, so I'd vomit, too 🤢🤣
They should have done some quick flashbacks to worst days in the life of the lab floor (Floorie?)
Lucy's excited, hopeful, "yeah ... (OH!) -- Did I do it?!" immediately followed by Alex's befuddled, "-No!". That was honestly the hardest I've laughed in a while. Just so brilliantly oblivious.
Sometimes when a contestant really screws up a task, it annoys Alex. See Bridget Christie and the shoe task in the church.
@@CaesarTjalbo his feud with Bridget was absolutely hilarious
His "no" in the church of shoes had the same tone@@catbeara
@@CaesarTjalbosee her tasks in general lol
Brilliant? No.. cod Founding? Absolutely.
I didn't expect Sam to be my favorite this series, but god he's just funny as hell. I did _not_ expect "I hope you like anthrax!"
"Are you a child of divorce?"
If there's ever a "Taskmaster book of quotes", Sam will get his own chapter.
Judging by his face after he said it I'm not sure he did either!
Between this and Sam arguing for others to get points, this group have had each others' backs more than any other group I've seen on Taskmaster. 😅
I'd say Series 12 also had some real cheerleaders, but other than that I'd have to agree, love the collaborative energy of this cast!
Except Julian (and I love that for him). Sue would take a bullet for Julian, and Julian would also have Sue take a bullet for him
You’re forgetting Series 12, but this isn’t *that* far off, which surprises me.
It's quite a change of pace from series 15
They have defeated the format of this show
Julian's calm but deadly shade toward Alex is my favorite thing this season. 😂
hes 20 years older, Just in terms of age and seniority he can skewer Alex alone, no pun intended.
"I put that in for you, whoever you are" quite an elegant and beautiful phrase you'd find on a romance novel, but is instead a masterful roast by Julian to Alex
I'm surprised that hasn't gotten more comments. I loved that one!
Alex profoundly loved that roast
It was so nice that it worked out that by disqualifying herself helping Julian, Sue Perkins still got the 2 points she would have gotten, but the other Sue got one extra point.
Thanks for pointing that out. I wondered what the scoring would've been if she didn't DQ'd but I couldn't be bothered to go back and work it out.
She probably didn't do the math in that short moment, but either way it was really sweet. And a fun contrast to last season's studio PvP. :D
If she hadn't done that, I think she would've beaten Lucy, actually?
Actually, she would have tied with Lucy so she'd get 3 and Susan would still get 2.
But I like your version better
She would have tied with Lucy for third place. Susan would have been in fifth. So she lost herself one point and gained Susan one point.
i don't know if it's mandated or not, but the quality captioning is very appreciated. it helps a lot more people stay up with what's happening for accessibility.
Knowing how detail-oriented Alex and the rest of the crew are, I wouldn’t be surprised if they proofread and edit them, as opposed to leaving it up to AI.
@@kantahanwithkahel Well since Taskmaster is on Channel 4, subtitles are required by British law anyway.
Yes! Proper subtitles are absolutely appreciated
Yeah! They're pretty new. They were just RUclips generated before. Glad they've righted that
UK subtitles are incomparable. On broadcast tv, I often see different colors assigned to people, so it's always clear who is speaking, even if the person is offscreen at the time.
Lucy is starring in her own show and thankfully she lets us watch.
There’s one every season. So now the question becomes staged or not.
John Kearns all over again
@@ml-jt6eg I hear you , yet look who she married and had babies with :-)
@@h0lly_blue But with John Kearns it was mostly done intentional. With Lucy I have the feeling that she is just like that.
@@ml-jt6eg There's always one contestant that's a little unhinged, but Lucy is by far the most extreme example
bless Sue's heart. She genuinely didn't consider having someone else help Julien. So sweet.
The end of the stage task was one of the greatest cinematic tragedies I've ever seen
The supportive casts, where the contestants are so invested in the tasks that they want to help each other complete them, are always my favorites. I'll never forget champion Sophie Duker purposely throwing a final task to try and give the episode to Judi Love. Seeing Sam and Sue immediately rally around Julian in the final task made me smile. Great group of contestants this series.
Sam saying "I had so many eyes so I decided to incorporate them" was hilarious because it was obvious, but also like, nobody else actually did use the eyes in a storyline
Susan did also
@@noatrope This is some massive disrespect to Sue and her eye bollock
I think you missed his joke here. The whole purpose of the task was to incorporate the eyes. Sam said it as if he was the only one to think of doing that.
340 likes for missing the point of the joke Sam was making.. sheesh 😂😂😂
yeah, no one else did. Except literally all of them. :/
Lucy is either the best comedian ever, or should maybe wear a brightly covered vest in her day to day life.
And maybe a helmet.
She is also raising kids!
seriously….. get the vest…. she’ll never know
I knew she was married to Jon Richardson, but knowing she's off-the-wall I have no idea how Jon's lives day to day.
Yeah I'm like... actually concerned about her ability to get through a day on her own. Unless this is a bit. I can't tell if it is.
Of course Sue would handmake a triceratops plushie for her niece. God I love her
One that makes cat noises no less
What's with the other sound the pullstring made 😂
Nice seeing Julian genuinely happy he won an episode finally
He went straight for the money which was hilarious, didn't even have to think which one held the cash on the advent calendar. LOL!
Sam's comparison to the Olympics is spot on.. but then again, this is Taskmaster, I'd be up for a full episode of disqualifications if it means laughing my ass off for three quarters of an hour haha
If everyone in the 100m finals makes a false start, it's not the fault of Pierre de Coubertin.
Sometimes patience and risk avoidance wins. And if you don't know the physics straight away, that's obviously the most important thing in this task.
On the other hand it would be bad television if everyone plans and knows what they're doing.
In one way it is spot on, in another way it illustrates that it isn't about the points
I knew right away that was going to be a quintuple bagel. Guarantee you previous years had people that would have completed that task in under a minute.
There was a marvelous all-around disqualification in series 10. I forget which episode, though.
It disappointed me so much, because it seemed like such a clever task, & then to have no success was just sad (but hilarious).
I was already preparing to make a joke about gay and lesbian solidarity at the end, and I love that Julian made it first. That was the most emotional stage task since Jessica fell off the Knappet.
It's the reason It's LG and not GL all over again.
yes i was thinking that haha quite unintentionally beautiful
@@crazysasha1374 I came to the comments to see if anyone knew about that piece of LGBT+ "lore" so to speak lol only learned about it myself a few years ago and I've been out of the closet since, well, honestly I wasn't ever really in it thanks to being lucky enough to have parents who really couldn't care less if I'm straight, bi, etc
alex saying “congratulations” to julian saying he’s gay LOL
Same energy as "Alex, what's the thing we been saying the whole series?"
"Happy birthday"
"Go big, or go home"
That's kind of how I feel: congratulations 🙄. Julian has one tool in his toolbox and he just throttles you with it at every turn. We get it. It shouldn't be your entire personality.
"I hope you like anthrax!" is on par with, "are you a child of divorce?" 😂😂😂
Sam laughs after the things he says like he's the one hearing the joke instead of telling it, and it brings me joy
Julian is gently hilarious. I love him.
The whole cast is great. Everyone is charismatic and funny in complementary ways. Might actually be my favorite cast so far.
Languidly hilarious😂
I wasn't sure how to take him at first, he seemed a bit cold. I've since adjusted and now I adore him.
He has definitely grown on me. I love this group.
If only he didn't make gay his entire personality.
Julian's comment there at the end was genuinely touching. Love this cast so much. All time great.
sue is the ultimate team player, her and susan being the loveliest duo and then her wanting to help julian so much she didnt think about if she would get disqualified its all very sweet
Brilliant as always, absolutely needed this today. Lucy managing to bungle seemingly every single task while simultaneously looking completely confident never stops being funny. I think Susan is getting some sympathy points on the prize task, but I genuinely loved her gang. Julian has so many funny lines every episode and managed to look genuinely excited about winning despite the fact that he has said on the podcast he never wanted to.
It's crazy because Susan has such standout moments in task execution this season, I keep being surprised she's not in 2nd overall!
@@davidcook8065 Looking back at the scores for the series, it looks like Susan's big dip in the score comes from Episode 3, since she only got 6 points there. I demand justice for Chain Bastard.
@@roundaboutrequiem98 Chain Bastard was seriously robbed!
Susan's prize task was undeniably better than the others, I don't know how you can say she got sympathy points. Greg almost always rewards higher for charity and for personalized prizes that aren't basically garbage, and hers had both.
The only sympathy I have is for us because we didn't get to hear the poem she wrote for Greg!!
It’s a shame that Susan gets overshadowed by the other personalities being bigger. She’s delightful. Also Julian and Sam have grown on me in major ways through the weeks.
She really excels with her creativity in the videos and her prize tasks. Then the task trick she played on Sam! She is wonderful!
Agreed. Susan is very nice, funny. But the others are so exceptionally batty she's the normal one
“If there’s a sport in the Olympics and no one can do it, don’t have it in the Olympics” - best quote to all the failed tasks
"The hands of a midwife".. THAT should have been this episode's title haha and what a weird "compliment" to make
tbh this episode had the most quotes that could be titles
@@Adrianovaz2007 Yeah totally haha I love this cast, Julian and Sam are two amazing discoveries for me, had never heard of them before that. I liked Sam's Olympics rant after they all failed the candle/jar task haha
What about "Beaver's Eye Bollock"?
@@wendighoul that was a great one as well haha this series' contestants are all so fun

Alex is killing me so far this episode.. with the “you wouldn’t have a headache,” and “you’ve come out,” 😅🤣☠️
I've said it at the start of this series, but Sue Perkins is my hero. She is just the best of what is British.
I'm American, and I get her not being popular here, but I kinda think she's criminally underrated in the UK.
Her wonderful world of portculli and haggi.
I adore her. She's perfect for this show and it's wonderful to watch her in her element.
No she's just a toff oxbridge grad. Hardly any Brits talk like her. She only represents a handful elite.
@@dellson8274 If the only support of your position is "people don't talk like her", you don't have a position. Feel free to not like Sue. But that "dislike" of her isn't dislike, it's just trying to sound smart while saying nothing,
Sam’s reaction 35:16 when the paper got caught on fire is pure gold, one minute he was giggling about the writings showing from the invisible ink, the next he realized that the paper is on fire…
I genuinely love these premieres. As someone who live out of country I love that I can directly support the show without having to support a 3rd party provider. Keep it up @Taskmaster I love this content. It allows me to give you money directly without having to pay someone else for your content.
Skateboard Division will 100% be a Sam Campbell quote and you cannot convince me otherwise.
he’s had dynamite chicks already, i bet it’s lucy
You were right, five points to you
It was already in the previews earlier this week.
Absolutely called it😂
Not to be confused with Joy Division.
I might be wrong, but I think I might have found the secret task. It is above the doorway when you enter the house. You could see the red wax. It becomes visible right before the vase task.
GOOD EYE. IT'S AT -18.18 OF THE PREMIERE!
I see that as a possibility! 27:36 for anyone wondering :)
Good eye, but that's always there. Picking an episode at random: series 14, episode 3, 7:35.
I think at least 1 of them is somewhere on the big painting of Greg, or on the table in front. Every time Alex asks someone if they've "found a secret task" they frame the shot so that area is clearly visible.
I think there’s no secret tasks and he’s just fucking with them
Sue's an absolute hero, sure, she didn't think about what she was doing, but that's kinda what heroes do. I would love to have her with me in an emergency. That actually has nothing to do with her heroics, I wouldn't mind having her around at any given time, she seems like great fun.
I love that all of Julian’s tasks seem effortless by him yet he is still taking the lead somehow
I have no data to back this up, but I feel like low stress contestants do decently on Taskmaster.
@@baildclark16 bob mortimer?
i havent really seen all of that season, but he seems super chill.
hes the only one though since jo brand and david didn’t do so well in s9.
I find that the contestants that play it more practically/rationally do really well when they’re up against competitors that are too chaotic for their own good. Sam’s chaotic humor for example swings both ways where Greg either really loves it and scores it highly, or really hates it and scores it last place. What’s also really helping Julian is that he’s put up really good prizes that I think Greg genuinely wants and usually takes away 4 to 5 points there. My guess is that Sam won’t be able to reign in his chaos, and it’ll be Sue versus Julian in the race for Greg’s face
I love that the videos are captioned now. As a hard of hearing American, accents I grew up with are hard enough to understand, and I especially struggle with ones I'm not used to. Thanks for making the show accessible!
At 21:21, I genuinely thought Julian had some kind of revelation, (like finding the secret task!) but no, he was just observing. How wonderful!
Finally legitimate subtitles! Thank you!
i’m so happy rn!
I love watching Sam trying to explain "Hey, hey, it's Saturday" to the British.
This was one of the best episodes ever, each contestant had its moment to shine and shine they did!
When Julian apologized for soiling the floor and Alex said "Its seen worse." all i could see was Sarah Millican with a big beaming smile on her face! 😂😂😂
Genuinely laughed out loud multiple times this episode, but for me the highlight was Julian's 'whoever you are'.
Seems disrespectful to me.
@@jonhohensee3258 you're watching the wrong show mate

"Is this something that would excite a heterosexual" I didn't realize how much taskmaster needed a tired gay person until now
He's mentioning his orientation all the time, but unlike some other comedians who do it as their only "joke" he actually makes it funny each time in different ways. "Aging homosexual" was such an instant meme. What a cast.
As an American , I love the British comedians. This show has the most diverse group of celebrities and comedians . I like being introduced the variety of people from across the pond.
This might be the series with the best group of contestants. They are all really funny and likeable and I love their dynamic in the studio. I really enjoy this season so far and I am happy that, as a non british, I can enjoy the episodes so close to their airing date
I love all of these people and I love how they support each other.
Sam was on fire in the studio this episode
This is one of the most suspensful show I have ever seen, kudos to camera men and editors, the live task was so cinematic, it was really gripping.
Also thank you for the subtitles, it is brilliant with them and not with automatic subtitles who are often shit. Thank you so much for your work.
if you mess with Julian's gang, you could say you're in hot water 😎
The music during Sue's balloon bursting.... especially when she first tugs the string: EPIC! So satisfying I had to keep looping it.
Love to the thoughtful editors, musicians, & crew that bring this show to life. :)
This is the most that I've had out loud laughs during a Taskmaster show! From Julian's explanation of his gang, to the good-natured derisive side comments, to everybody failing hilariously at the water task, to Sue helping Julian at the end. This episode had all the emotions!
It's so great to be able to watch more of it, almost live! Thanks from France!
how was the match ?
Yep and official substitles 🎉
sam lighting the task on fire is possibly the funniest thing ever to be caught on camera in the show
It would have been amazing if he had lit the task on fire, then put that in the bowl and put the vase on top of it.
@@patpat8727yeah don't think it would have stayed lit though
I see a lot of comments for every other contestant, but Susan is just sunshine. I want her and Nish on a team. Theyd both just be happy to be there and love all the other teams ideas.
The cheerful "I hope you like Anthraaax!" absolutely killed me xD
This series is really going in on the Taskmaster lore. First we had the Widdicombe task, now we have filling the vase, which was demonstrated by Katherine Ryan during her miracle task. Absolutely love it, hopefully there's more to come. Also, I'm going to be incredibly bothered at this point if the 'secret' task never comes to anything. I know it's irrational, but Alex has gone and hyped it up too much now.
Sam suddenly throwing out an Anthrax joke then shrinking in fear as everyone started laughing was incredible. Continues to be one of the very best series so far! Well done everyone!
Julian has to be the least motivated person ever who is damn good at these tasks
Mmm, Jo might just edge him out.
Idk about anyone else but I thought Sam running away from the balloon as he threw it was really clever. It hadn't occurred to me to do that. When put together with his idea in ep1 to combine hair strands for the most connections, he does have a lot of moments where you feel he's a lot more clever than he lets on.
I don't understand how this show can safely make me tear up in laughter each season, pure brilliance 👏👏👏
I love how this group is so supportive of each other while also being competitive and fun and squabbling with alex
It’s almost perfect
Happy weekly Taskmaster everyone! Excellent episode, gosh Sue Perkins is such a gem. I may be soft, but I definitely teared up at the live task.
i just noticed theres official subtitles now, so thank you for that!! this is a huge help for myself and so many other people who love this show 🥰🥰
Can't believe that Alex got them with the school-level physics 😂 saw candle and straight away knew it
I never actually saw that trick in my physics class so I had no idea how the candle would figure into it. Once they did it I realized immediately how it worked, but it's not an obvious thing to try if you've never seen it shown.
Didn't Katherine Ryan do something similar in COC1??

Lucy's attempt at the vase task is the hardest i've laughed in a long while.
And her wondering if she did it was amazing
@@ExileOnDaytonStreetshe seems to be extremely quick at deciding which random thoughts to retain and amplify. Anyone else would spend a fraction of a second with that thought and dismiss it as stupid and useless. She picks it as a funny one and breaks the brains of everyone around her.
"Hope you like Anthrax!! 😃😃😃" God, I LOVE Sam Campbell
I feel like one of them found a secret task and has been doing it all along, it will be obvious when we see it. Perhaps Lucy found one that said “lose the most tasks”?
That would be epic!
Sue Perkins is an absolute sweetheart. She deserves an award. ❤
The camaraderie, the emotion, the comedy, the suspense! This is my FAVORITE show, and Series 16 is one my favorite casts! Thank you for sharing Taskmaster on RUclips. You are making SO many people happy!!
Understanding the candle vase trick right away made it more excruciating to watch the task
I never knew that trick, but then I was in the worst middle school in my town in the Eastern European 90s and our physics teacher who was an alcoholic allowed us to skip because my bestie was actually good with sciences, so bestie and I would instead go to our hideout at the nearby railroad and drink stolen gin and smoke instead. So I can barely count numbers, lol, but let me try and figure this out with my nonexistent physics ed. So, it works a bit like a chimney, no? Candle burns off oxygen and creates a vacuum, which in turn sucks up the liquid to fill the vacuum, right? Except with a chimney there's a flow, but with a closed off vase, the candle will extinguish once the oxygen runs out. Right?
yeah, I was a little surprised none of them had seen that party trick before!
A good deal of the success of taskmaster is the chemistry of the players. This group is one of the best.
Between Lucy and Sam's "unique" perspectives this is the most unhinged TM series ever
I would argue that Susan was successful in Task 4 and should NOT been disqualified. the task specifically states "Get all the water in the vase. If you spill any water from the plate, you are disqualified. You may not leave the lab." Susan didn't spill from the plate. She "spilt" from her mouth.
But she spilled the water that came from the plate
Yeah, I'd say that's a classic "place the exercise balls on the yoga mat on top of that hill" phrasing, where you could argue that you followed all the rules. She probably could have gotten points for her attempt if she had defended it like that in the moment.
How is this series halfway done?! It feels like it just started!
That seems to happen every series!
'it is fastest wins' 'did i do it?!!!!' '...no!!' god i love lucy
Sue's sacrifice shall not be forgotten 😭
I've just begun watching the episode and am loving Susan's studio outfit. :) It just needs "Wokoma" to finish off the list.
I absolutely adore Julian Clary
this bunch are the best....i think they are the only group from Taskmaster i would love to have round for dinner as a complete team...it would be the most amazing experience.
If I were doing historically badly in an episode, then got super excited when I actually excelled at something, then celebrated my success only to be disqualified because I got sloppy in my excitement, I'd throw my drink too. Poor Lucy! She took it well though.
She walked off the stage. Only other person to walk off stage was her husband when he sang to the mayor 😂
Sam is absolutely hilarious. One of my all-time favorites on this show. From "I hope you like anthrax!" To "Hell's Angels.....skateboard division." This dude is next level funny.
Thank you for making these available on YT!! Love watching the show...bright spot in my day!!🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌😍
Love from Canada!
I keep returning to this series as my favorite thus far because Julian brings the dry shade toward Alex, Lucy is brilliantly obtuse half the time, Sam is so silly and both Sues are so wholesome toward each other. I love it.
I've never wanted to give a hug to anyone as much as I did Lucy. 😢💔
Lucy and Susan are both just the best.
Sometimes, on rough days, i like to rewatch Sue helping Julian in the final task. It helps.
sue's heroism in the live task,,, man i love this series
Sue is a true friend to have. Her natural reactions to things shows her heart of hearts
Lucy is the most chaotically naïve contestant I've seen on the show, and I love her to bits. I really hope that when she ran off from the stage, it was just the comedian in her playing things up and not her truly being upset about failing yet again.
I have loved many cast members to date, but this may be my favorite ensemble. Every single one of them are so uniquely charming.
I saw on the taskmaster subreddit recently somebody said that taskmaster season 16 is their comfort season and I fully agree
I need reaction highlights of Lucy's husband reacting to these episodes. Jon's commentary would be priceless.
I've generally enjoyed Lucy before on other panel shows, but something about her in this environment just does it for me. I think she's caused tears of laughter in every episode so far 🤣 And poor Sue, my heart broke for her this episode
Imagine Julien winning the series because of Sue's sacrifice in the finale...such amazing ally
❤
Sue's not an ally, she's part of the community. Only people outside the community can be allies cause they themselves are not affected :)
"Ally" 😂 These morally bankrupt people don't need allies. They are now the bullies ramming their immoral beliefs down our throats.
Sam has soooooo many fans who crush on him thanks to the exposure on this show. He comes across as so bright-eyed and sweet all throughout this series, but a little dig back into his early comedy career in Australia with his earlier stand up and the videos he did with Henry Stone show that he is a lot raunchier than his sweet TM persona makes him out to be 😊
THANK YOU FOR THE SUBTITLES!!! I bet they were made by some DYNAMITE CHICKS!
