Kris about the story behind this song: "It was just what I was feeling. I was actually sitting in a helicopter tied down on top of an oil rig 50 miles south of New Orleans out in the Gulf and just thinking about asking someone to just help me through the night." In some other interview Kris said, the idea for this song, written in "one of those little bubble helicopters", had been sparked by remarks made during an interview by Frank Sinatra, who said that he would use religion, a broad or the bottle or "anything else that would help a man make it through the night." And he also said that he probably started writing this song "because I liked Dylan's 'I'll be your baby tonight."
Kris looked so really happy and full of joy in this entire concert... I just love it.

Der Song sei keinem bestimmten Mädchen gewidmet, betonte Kris in einem Interview. Er flog damals als Hubschrauberpilot (das hatte er ja bei der Army gelernt) über den Golf zu Ölbohrinseln, und als er da eines Nachts festgesurrt auf der Bohrinsel in der Pilotenkanzel saß, 50 Meilen südlich von New Orleans draußen im Golf, waren das seine Gefühle: einfach jemanden zu bitten, ihm durch die Nacht zu helfen...Und so schrieb er diesen Song.
Inspiriert wurde Kris durch Worte von Frank Sinatra, der in einem Interview gesagt hatte, that he would use religion, a broad or the bottle -- „or anything else that would help a man make it through the night." I was at the Highwaymen concert when you came to Belfast and I remember you (Kris ) bringing the house down with "Why me Lord", and Johnny Cash, singing "Forty Shades of Green" (not a lot of people know he wrote that song about Ireland). I to had the delight of meeting Kris, unfortunately I didn't get a dance. What I wouldn't have given for that.!!!
They where amazing together, i love to see Kris walking around on the stage smiling. I have this on dvd and Kris walking around on the stage smiling through the hole consert, the dvd is amazing by the way.

My husband and I just watched the DVD this afternoon or this concert. Absolutely loved it and this is my favourite song on that DVD. Loved the tempo of this version.

Salice McCool He is college educated with a Master’s from Oxford. He was a Rhodes Scholar and was disowned by his family when he moved to Nashville to write music. I like all kinds of music, with classical my favorite, but of the country singers, Kris is tops with Willie close behind. I saw Willie (82) and Merle in concert a few years ago and was wowed!

I saw and heard the Highwaymen in Oslo, thank someones god,lol, I`m so glad I did, and I really loved all of them, but Kris was the reason for me flying for a fortune and stay at hotell (a fortune for us at that time), I`ll never forget, thanks for uploading Tina :-)
I love this concert, it's my favourite of Kris... He looked so happy and was enjoying it so much... dancing and laughing all the time... just great. First time I ever noticed him was when I watched this great dvd. Wish I could have been there.
