The Blackfire Fixed Blade Knife by Klein Tools

- In this review, we are taking a look the Blackfire edition of the Klein Tools Duct knife. It is an almost identical design with a few additional features. Most Klein tools are manufactured here in the USA but I do believe these are manufactured in China (as some of their tools are). It is geared more toward the outdoorsman. #kleintools #blackfire #fixedbladeknife

Saw the display at outdoor center , Klein sold me. I put a paracord wrap on the handle.
I'm an electrician so I've known about Klein tools for 25 years. Great quality feel great in the hand last a lifetime. When I saw the duct knife at the supply house I instantly bought 2 of them. Awesome knives extremely heavy.
Nice knife, no doubt. "client tools," 25 Years? Maybe spell "Klein" as in Klein tools correctly and capitalize proper names.
@@NSNorfolk Thanks. Talk to text sucks ass when driving. Tell your English class i said hi asshole
I find their bits are brittle, I love Klein though. 6 in 1 saved my life possibly or a lot of pain from being electrocuted. Now it’s just a nut driver. Again Klein is awesome.
Iam a lifelong sheet metal man. I have the Milwaukee duct knife. Use it everyday. That klien looks great. I want one.
I have had the Milwaukee Duct knife for a couple of years. It looks like I'll have to get the Klein Blackfire knife too, the extra features sold me !
Estwing also makes a great version. They are all pretty comparable. It comes down to your favorite brand and a few dollars difference.
Estwing has a double edged duct knife too
Thanks! I just got one of the regular ones. I Work construction in a rough part of town, nice being able to carry a pigsticker on my belt inconspicuously.
Very nice!
that along with a hammer should take care of about any "surprises".
Bought one several months ago at Lowe’s…just got done making a leather sheath for it…that was the one thing I didn’t much care for, was the nylon sheath it came with.
It looks like a dive knife, Klein makes a lot of electrical tools that I use for work , many common tools
These are useful, honest reviews, and I thank you. Haters gonna hate Bro, forget about them.
I appreciate you my friend 🙂
Just started looking into klein duct knife, and wanted to see if you reviewed it yet. Blackfire review was the review I needed to see.
Awesome to hear!
glad to see the channel coming up to 20k subscribers, i remember finding your channel when you had just a few hundred subscribers. great video! 👍
I appreciate your support!
I haven’t done a whole lot out doors for a while that I needed a knife, but I do think this one could also be useful in some first responder roles. I carried everything from a Gerber MkII to a BMF to a K-Bar knockoff and all had their advantages and disadvantages. After the Gerber BMF, I determined that being sharp enough to accomplish a wide variety of field tasks was more important than chopping big logs or “c*mbat” qualities. Some of the “better” steels that are sharp out of the box and hold an edge but are difficult to resharpen aren’t much more useful than a cheaper or mid range that will resharpen with a Wheatstone or a diamond stick. So this knife, under $25 after taxes would probably work as well as any of them on the market. Anyway, another great video presentation.
Thank you!
Gotta love a company that listens to the customer. I love me some full tang.
Great voice for this!
Thanks for the video! Great job! I use the Estwing duct knife. Another “contender “ perhaps.
I bought a Klein duct knife on sale for ten bucks 4 years ago. It's extremely tough and holds an excellent edge even cutting duct work.
Oklahoma we have both open and concealed, no permit needed, both gun and knife, machete, bowie, or SWORD!
God’s country.
Love it
Tv-siers eqrlizraer in late 80's, used a spring blade knife, china& ussr airborne used them !!😊😊 Very good ,jf.
Think you I loved show&gear used the cold war was still on Berlin wall not come down yet ,jf.
Klein makes good stuff used em for years working on electronics and this knife peaked my interest , may pick one up
i didnt know you did knife reviews, i originally came across your brass knuckles videos. I just subbed to your channel homeboy!
Awesome! Thank you
Excellent video. The flat pommel could be used as a hammer to hammer nail in case of emergency….(having nail) in the survival kit takes no space and could be at used.
That Knife just screams- THROW ME !
Truth! Lol
Great reviews!!! I’d like to see you review the Malco duct knives please.
I genuinely love your approach on how to present knives, btw.
I appreciate that!
This was a great video! Thanks for all the information. Loved the knife throwing too
Thank you my friend!
I have one. Great knife. I wish they had a better case for it. But for just $20. It's a good deal.
Just found your channel. Great review and presentation of the knife, I’ll be picking one up. Thanks for sharing your opinion on it!
Glad to be of service my friend!
Great, now I gotta buy this one...
Knives, and other inexpensive material are awesome for building multiple bugout bags, and/or locations without going broke. Most likely this knife is as functional as a 300 dollar knife .... I would be afraid of damaging a knife I spent several hundred bucks on. :)
You’re throwing this blackfire exceptionally well, I need lessons. 🦅🇺🇸🗽⚖️
More to come! Thanks my friend. I’ve got some tutorials out there.
@@411Outdoors I’m headed to look
I really like that you can throw that thing that is a beautiful
I bought one of these knives it is not full Tang. After messing around with it for quite a while the steel Palmer fell out. still a great night for 20 blocks but it's not solid through the handle
I wish I could see a picture of it like Milwaukee provides on their package. I’m curious
Thank you for sharing your knowledge great channel.
My pleasure! I appreciate you!
Ductboard knives... funny to see someone do a video. I recognized these could be handy many years ago. I've still got an old one with a full tang, rolled, high carbon steel blade and a simple hickory slab handle. Back when I bought it, it might have cost $4 or $5. The one in this video is way fancy by comparison.
That looks like a decent blade for paddling. Velcro attached in life vest pocket???
I have the original knive of this design. Smooth & serated on one side. I use it to cut my Lilly bushes at my job. It's a tank and very very tough.
The Milwaukee one is alright i bent the tip after a week, but for the job its meant for it does ok, honestly cutting duct work as the knife is intended for you plung the blade around the duct to allow easier work for your tin snips and its an amazing pipe insulation cutting tool but do not EDC these things your gonna get hurt, the serations dont do much and they are hard to sharpen
Wonderful review
Thanks so much my friend
I bought the Milwaukee after that video!! Lol.. I love it bro, use it all the time.. probably getting the Klein now too
Right on!
Sheath should be looped for horizontal carry as well.
Perfect iv been looking for a dagger thats perfect thanks 411
Anytime!
I'd take this over my Milwaukee duct knife. It looks way better. The steel pommel. The sheath, and extra tools. Seems far superior to my Milwaukee 🤘
Some folks have a rifle and pistol collection...then 411 and the growing collection of knives..once hit 411 may have to admit you are addicted-lol...450 is ok as well. Nice review btw
Thank you! I wish I could collect guns. I am going to be getting me a new bolt action an AR probably this year.
I've used Milwaukee duct knives for YEARS as a fishing knife! I live in Florida so that stainless steel holds it's own pretty good against salt water. My main use, is for bait processing. It's "excellent" and LASTS!!!
Very good use!
Is the duct knife basically the same knife? The same quality?
It is 👍 just minimus that sheath and ferro rod
Interesting knife... I have several Klein Tools meters, outlet testers, and hand tools and am pretty happy with them. The knife is interesting and has some intriguing quirks. The length of unsharpened tang between edge and handle seems a bit odd, but I'm guessing this is sort of a sharpened pry bar, saw and field knife combo tool. Blade geometry looks a bit thick but it's probably not meant to be 'slicy'. The quality of the heat treating is probably more important than the blade steel. Guessing it's 420 stainless. Cool general-purpose knife. Knife is shown on Amazon but it says currently unavailable - no pricing yet.
I wasn’t able to find it there either. I had to order it from the black fire site.
What is the Rod thing and strike used for? Maybe you could do a video on how to: ?
It’s a fire starter🙂👍
Wish I could find a good quality heavy leather, carry sheath for it the one I bought. Other than the cheesy sheath that comes with it, I'm a fan.
Made in USA?
Just about everything Klein tools does is made in the USA but these are manufactured in China. A rare portion of their tools are manufactured in China and these are one of them.
@@411Outdoors thanks!
40+ years ago Malco had a duct knife that was made by Old Hickory. It was a double edge version of the Old Hickory large butcher knife. I have one somewhere in my old duct tools. Old hickory still makes a smaller version called a "Sticker". Cheers
The Malco version is currently available on Amazon
Nice!!! Well done!
Thank you! Cheers!
How long have duct knives been around for? Never heard of them until recently
For awhile I do believe but they seem to be somewhat new
Where is it made. For the price you mentioned it has to be China etc
It is China made. Some of their tools are manufactured there
Klein tools are great
Well let’s get joex to review it till it breaks - Marlboro 🤘
He’d smash it against a car and a rock and would definitely break it haha
As an outdoors kind of guy I'd baton it through wood..
Sure it'll chip out your baton, but it's just more wood for the fire..
Nice i just looked ebay that knive has 6 or 7 different makers
You sure do have good taste ❤
That's pretty cool Brother man!
Glad you like it!
Pick up the one from the Klenk brand. That is the correct spelling. Made in Taiwan. See how it compares.
hey daniel, i think there is a simple shot scout lt x coming out!
Oh sweet!
My next knife
How about the black fire multitool? Did Klein kill that tool?
Interesting I’ll have to check
I love wide tangs lmfao lol 😂 and big tangs to
😂😂 hard not to lol
No doubt Klein
There's no knife aisle in our home depot...
I couldn’t find klein at my Home Depot either. I got this from Amazon..
I bought one at Ross for 8 bucks. I broke it when the knife hit sideways . Blade snapped off.
Oh no sorry to hear!
Nice looking knife by Klein Tools but DBL edge knives are worthless in the field for serious outdoor use, and very much illegal in some states. Don't know what kind of steel? But 19.00 isn't bad for a knife, I'm still passing on this one.
7:21 it’s throw time!
Dam,good,job,1
Thank you!
what weight the knife?
8.5 ounces
@@411Outdoors thank you very much. mora Gerberg weight similar.
Made in China?
Yep this series as well as their duct knife is. Most are American made but they have these made in China
Some of their folders are listed as having 440A stainless.
There you go👍 I would bet this is probably the same
440 A steel Is the most rezistant steel for salt water..many manufacturers use the A steel for diving knives..another good oficial diving steel is 420 and titanium...
Put a magnet to your stainless steel blades. The less it sticks the higher grade the stainless is. The less it will oxidize.. that's why it's called stainless steel. Surgical stainless steel a magnet will not stick at all
Great tip!
Jets another one tip, the higher the quality of stainless steel the more you should get at the metal recycling center. Usually not much for regular kitchen knives. Just check with the 🧲
🇨🇱GOD bless Texas 🇨🇱
Wish they had a non serrated blade version’ it would sell like hot cakes’ serrations are garbage for a combat knife’
I agree it would sale even more 👍
All in all though’ I’m an electrician/lineman and the serrated version is awesome for work’ especially with amount of cordage we have to cut’ the serrations cut through the Kevlar mule tape like a lazer beam’ I have always been a fan of the Fairban Sykes knife and stiletto double edge fighting knives and I really think with the length and quality of these that it could be a very good option.
daaaam, dude, ok ok, I'll get one :P
It’s pretty cool 🙂👍
I'll make sure to try throwing it. Its so cheap that breaking it is not a big deal. It is illegal to carry where I live though, @@411Outdoors
Aaaah shit... I got the regular version, not the outdoor
There's a good work knife at L***s, made by Lennox. I've been using it for bushcraft. Still has that sucky plastic sheath.
Subscribed My friend
Thank you!🙂
This is a full on combat blade, not a outdoorsman knife.
Definitely combat 👍
Why not call it what it is.... it is a dagger. This is designed to be a weapon.
I must agree. Indirect marketing lol
2 weeks after video.... unavailable
It was reviewed by my channel and survival on purpose as of late. Click the notify when in stock button. Or the Klein duct knife is pretty much the same if you wanted to check that one out
@@411Outdoors oh I apologize... I went DIRECTLY to Amazon and it was there.... just the Klien page doesn't have any... weird
@@ABIGD0NK3Y no worries my friend! Glad you found one
a great knife....BUT....the shealth still sucks balls. I made a kydex sheath for it and WOW...way more secure way to carry.
That’s awesome!
its looks like military knife.
Yeah but does that tang poon
🤣💯
Lmao! 😂
Of course it's out of stock.
Check Amazon

Puntang
😂💯
As far as I can tell at some point Klein tools dropped their classic electrician's knife from their line replacing it with various mediocre looking disposeable utility knives. Very disappointing.
If you are legitimately using in the woods or on a job site you usually are ok without getting in trouble with the law
Yes, it's work to ignore them, become invisible to them, but usually worth it.
Lean to slip / slide away from their scrutiny.
Become the grey man .
Obey the law, when they are watching you. The rest of the time . . .
☆
Some poo Tang
😂👍
A pig sticker
Sheath is total crap. Fell apart on mybtoolbelt in a week.
Less than $20
Klein tools are great..
Indeed 🙂👍
At only $20, you can't lose, you have to admit.
New to the channel and love'n it!
Glad to have you! Thanks for watching 🙂
Good review there of a new blade , looks good and also the shape of the blade is also super cool . Your intro should have been ' Am excited to threaten my neighbour with this new Knife and use it against them😂😂' .
💯😂
The urge to have a Kydex sheath made for this knife is undeniable.
Definitely! 🙂
