    Have you been fooled by the frequency of which people recommend coconut oil for every possible reason under the sun? Do you have another common recommendation that you'd like to see covered in a future video?

      Yes, I have a BIG Question-
      In Australia I keep seeing & reading how great "Bone Both" is, & to add Bone Broth to your dogs kibble or raw/cooked meals if dog suffers Stomach problems, Skin problems??
      Does Bone Broth really help our dogs ??
      I remember when we were kids & we were sick mum would make Chicken soup & I remember she'd buy chicken wings & add the whole chicken wings & slowly cook the chicken soup till the bones fell off the chicken wings, very similar to making a bone both boiling bones.
      I must admit I did feel & get better after eating her chicken soup.
      This is one of the Bone Broth Powders with have on the market. It has Mushrooms another thing hitting the Pet Food market all these miracle mushrooms???
      Bone Broth Powder
      INGREDIENTS
      Beef bone broth powder (100% Australian grass-fed and finished beef bones)
      Organic Lion's Mane
      Organic Reishi
      Organic Chaga

    Thanks for the accurate information. The internet is great--until it isn't. There is so much great information out there, but there seems to be an equal amount of bad information out there, too (and sometimes it even feels like the bad outweighs the good). At least with your videos, I know I'm getting good information.

      I did a series on this among my first videos as it makes me super frustrated how often people show up in vet clinics with poorly bred dogs.
      Here's part 1 that covers the basics to consider before adding a pet to your home:
      ruclips.net/video/VxgnoXBNYeI/видео.htmlsi=mf0YF49cJvs8PAJX
      Part 2 covers what an excellent and ethical breeder should be doing:
      ruclips.net/video/TjIE-k_OOP0/видео.html
      Part 3 touched on fad dogs and brachycephalics:
      ruclips.net/video/n6N6AWCjqVo/видео.html
      And the last part was about the specific litter you end up considering:
      ruclips.net/video/CE3JcAW1JgI/видео.htmlsi=p7r-U1YVuzU1mZ1-
      Forgive the editing etc as I was brand new to video editing... But the info is still valid!

    My cat has flakey skin and I asked my vet about coconut oil to put on her skin. They said no, and gave me Omega Benefits (2 squirts on her wet food). I also brush her everyday and once a week I use pet wipes.

    • @VetMedCorner
      @VetMedCorner  7 месяцев назад +2

      For this scenario, it's also important to feed a well formulated, research based diet that meets WSAVA guidelines and full mouth intra oral x-rays should be done to check for oral pain. This is because poor nutrition and medical issues that cause cats pain (and they therefore groom less which causes the flaking) are by far and away the 2 most common causes of flaky skin in cats.
      All the best with finding and treating the underlying cause!

      That's an excellent start and excellent nutrition.
      Being overweight can result in them not being able to reach very well to groom, and it can also worsen joint/arthritis pain so I hope that your veterinarian is helping you with a weight loss plan.
      Keep up the excellent work 💪

    I used coconut oil to take off my makeup and had it in a little glass jar in the bathroom and my cat would go crazy for it and try to get into it and I ended up with cat teeth marks on the lid from him trying to get into it! Any time I pulled it out my cat would go berserk trying to get it. He loved the smell I guess. My other cat was not interested at all. Cats are weird 🤣

    As soon as I read someone say to apply Coconut Oil I tell them NNNNNOOOOO.
    Years ago back 2013 Coconut Oil was big, I had just rescued a Staffy who suffered with IBD +Skin Allergies i was reading verywhere on teh Internet apply Coconut oil to dogs paws, dogs skin,
    So I asked my vet whe i went for a vet visist & my vet said-
    Coconut Oil is BAD especially for skin problems- when Coconut Oil is applied to the dog skin if dog suffering skin Infection = bacteria or yeast on their skin when you apply Coconut oil on dogs skin/paws, it holds in the bad bacteria or yeast on the dogs skin or paws & the dogs skin & paws can't heal....
    Coconut Oil can make dogs skin infection worse, then my Vet said, "Stay away from the Internet".

    i have a pitbull mix and he had bad dandruff when i recused him and he also had like a dry coat. So i saw that coconut oil would help. I tried that but also got omega 3 salmon oil from zesty paws and his dandruff is much better and his coat is better. I think you may have mentioned it but does applying coconut oil on the dogs coat not help them with anything?

    • @VetMedCorner
      @VetMedCorner  7 месяцев назад

      No, coconut oil is useless and doesn't help. The omega fatty acids will generally help. It's also important to feed a research based diet that meets WSAVA guidelines.

    • @VetMedCorner
      @VetMedCorner  7 месяцев назад

      I can't give specific advice for a specific animal, but yes Simparica Trio can be a wonderful option! If it's best for your pet will depend on where you live, and the medical history of your pet so you need to talk with your local veterinarian about using it (or another option).

      @@VetMedCorner thank you! I live in India and Vets here usually prescribe dangerous medicine without any warning or use multitude of injections. Basically, they arent any good.
      I own a GSD, we live in a tropical hot climate with cold winter (delhi), he doesnt have any neurological problems but has anxiety issues and chases his tail out of excitement/fear.
      There has been an influx of fleas/ticks on his body (ranging about 50 to 200). Due to the same he scratches often and has redness on some areas where ticks/fleas exist.
      Considering all these facts, would be advisable to give him, Simparica Trio or any similiar medicine.
      Thank You!:)

      It's important to use a research based, properly formulated diet that meets WSAVA guidelines. It's not possible to judge if a specific formula is appropriate or not based off the ingredient list.

      @VetMedCorner what's wrong with coconut oil? I heard it's good brushing teeth with for dogs from a bunch of people and some vets and videos ive watched. It's anti bacterial and microbial so that's why they say it's good cause it helps teeth. I have used coconut oil and enzyme toothpaste. I'm glad I asked so I'm not messing up.

    • @VetMedCorner
      @VetMedCorner  Месяц назад +1

      Did you happen to watch the video? It covers why coconut oil should not be fed to your dog. I'm afraid that whoever 'they' is that are saying these things are telling you inaccurate disinformation.
      If your goal is to slow down dental disease, the mechanical action of brushing daily is the most effective thing to do in dogs, but you can also add in products that have the VOHC accepted label as those ones *do* have research behind them proving that they help to slow down dental disease.
      I do have a few videos on dental disease (how it forms, how to treat it, prevention etc), if you are looking for additional information.
      I'm so glad you asked as well!

    I have been giving my dog coconut oil for many years.She's now 10.The vet says that she is in Very good health. I think you are giving the missed information. Coconut is very good in moderation for your dog. I have given my dog some coconut oil for years and no problem. There's skin is good. Their hair is good. Their poops are good. Their stomach doesn't grow. I disagree, I think you need to do some more research on coconut oil for dogs. And of course, everything in modification. That's what's important. Have a good day

    • @VetMedCorner
      @VetMedCorner  4 месяца назад

      What you've been doing, and the way your report your dog looks, has nothing to do with the coconut oil. If you stopped it your dog would look the exact same and would be at a significantly reduced risk of developing pancreatitis.
      What you just explained is not accurate, research based information. It's the common mistake of confusing correlation with causation...
