Thank you, Chris. Those skinny wire wheels definitely give a unique look to a build like this. Good luck with yours - I think you'll be pleased with the results.
Damn you’re pretty good at that bro! One of these days I’m gonna try to build a Ratrod, but put my own spin on it, know what I mean?! But excellent job on that build I like it!!
WORK OF ART!!!, You hand painted the doors!!!!!, are you kidding me! beautiful work and all that detailing is amazing! I will say I'm glad I bugged you to put out another vid LOL. Now that your back in the groove of making a video we should be seeing more vids from you.....hint .......hint LOL. That has to be one of my ALL time favorite rat rods i've seen built on youtube! please keep the inspiration coming my friend!
Haha, thanks Patrick. I appreciate your compliments. I think I may have enough photos to string together one more slideshow video for another of my other previous builds. Thanks for nudging me! :-)
That is one sweet rat rod. Besides the rusting solution, how did you get it to be so crusty? I'm gonna have to try this on my 37' ford panel truck. Kutgw, peace!
Thanks Chazz! The crustiness comes entirely from the rusting solution. The base coat is very heavy with iron filings, and when you brush the top coat over it, those particles are what actually create the rust. The more coats of the base you apply, the heavier the build-up will be when you apply the top coat.
I'm actually going to do the same car, I just wanted some ideas. Yours is really nice, I don't think I can make it that good as your tho lol. You should check out my channel some time I have a 1965 impala convertible lowrider. But yea nice job man
Thank you very much, I got it yesterday and it is pretty nice. One thing though, did you have trouble painting it? It's like the paint doesn't stick or something.
Ricardo Gonzalez I didn't have any problem with the paint sticking. I sanded the whole body with 1000 grit paper before spraying. Are you using a gloss color directly over the body, without primer?
To create the frame sketch seen in the video, I just use my calipers to measure the lengths of all of the pertinent items such as radiator thickness, engine distance from fan to firewall, length of cab, ect... to plan out where I want my "Z" steps in the front and rear of the frame.
I haven't built for a while. Not giving it up, just been focusing on other hobbies and family lately. I'd love to be able to get back to the bench, just haven't had time.
A masterpiece! Thank you.
I'm tipping my hat to a master craftsman.
Thank you, John. I appreciate it!
The more I watch it, the better I like it!
What an amazing build, great weathering, and rusting techniques. Keep up the great work and have an amazing weekend.

outstanding
Thanks, Mike!
How do you get all of the measurements for your chassis? I'm planning on building a rat rod out of leftover parts of other builds.
