Monogram 1912 Paddy Wagon rat rod model car

- This rat rod was built from Monogram's Police Paddy Wagon model kit. I basically only used the body and grille shell/headlights from the kit. It has been chopped and channeled. The frame, rear suspension, front fenders, floorboards, and a few other components were scratchbuilt. The engine is a Chrysler slant 6 from a Deora kit, with a custom intake and a radically over-carbed 6-Stromberg induction set-up. The wheels and tires are from a '32 Cadillac.

Thanks for watching!
Thank you again for your compliments, Russ. I built The green "box stock" version at age 10, and built this rat version at 37. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for your compliment! The rust is a product called Sophisticated Finishes. It's a 2-part paint system that simulates it really well. The base coat contains a lot of metal shavings, and the top coat is a clear that turns all of the shavings in the base coat into rust. Thanks for watching!
I am in "complete" AWE of your detailing skills!
Simply "STUNNING!"
This is a radical design, great!
10 years apart in the building? WOW!!!
Fantastic Man!!
Thank You for sharing

Thank you for your compliment, nboldman. And thanks for stopping by. :-)
Thanks Rusty! I appreciate the kind words, my friend. I'm diggin' your rat, too, and can't wait to see it finished! Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much, Jim. Your generosity is much appreciated.
Thank you so much for your kind words!
Hi CoyoteShaman79 - thanks so much for your comments and for viewing. The rear axle is the quick-change that came with the paddy wagon kit. I only used the center section, sliced off the short driveshaft, and replaced the plastic axle with aluminum tubing. I also added coil spring perches and brackets for the control arms of my custom suspension. You could use the kit rear or go ahead with the '48 rear on yours since that's what you have. Just tell people it's really beefed up - haha.
Thank you for your kind words of praise. I'm very flattered. For the rusting, look up a product called "Sophisticated Finishes". It's a really neat two-part painting process that creates this finish.
anytime. glad others are into models just as i am
Love it! That is one amazing build! The detail level is outstanding!
Thank you kindly, Marc! Peace!

Big Boss Jim

So much to look at. So much detail. Good looking model.
Thanks for watching, and for your kind compliments. I appreciate it.
Thank you ametykathy. I saw your recent nomad in the SA gallery, and I LOVE it!
i built the paddy wagon as a kid to the exact box picture.. it was great.. real kinda NYC police rig...
Thank you, pturley84! I appreciate it!
The body panels, grille shell, and headlights are all I used from the kit. Everything else is either scratch built or from other kits. (A few examples: front dropped axle from a '48 Ford - front leaf spring from a '32 Ford - Engine from a Dodge Deora - wheels & tires from a '32 Cadillac - frame is scratch built - floorboards are scratch built - front fenders are scratch built, and much more) I don't always build "rat rod" style builds, but this is the look I wanted for this particular build.
Thank you sir! I appreciate it!
dude i cant even think about posting any of mine after seeing that beautiful beast . i gotta learn me some rustin'. now gotta go look at your other vids!!

WOW !!! That is art man.... awesome!!!
if this is a model then you did one hell of a good job, what did you use to make the body seem like it has rust kinda built up on the outside of the cowl or on the side pannels? its a damn good job.
Very Cool rat Rod!!
Both Paddys looks Terrific!!
Thanks, man! Much appreciated!
Thanks, Matthew. I subbed you as well.
very very nice love it, what rear axle end is that from? right now im working on a paddy all i have is 427 chevy motor and a 48 ford rear axle, and im not sure if a 48 ford axle and gears would work on a chevy 427 i dont know cars that well in real life just models
Wow! That is beautiful!

Marc saying Peace from Lyne's hot-rod speedshop & KPM
Now what would you do if you can drive that car??
What a killer rat build brother ! I'm subbing you for this ... Just hope my rat turns out this nice, although I'm not sure I'm ready to anything out just yet ...
Very nice build! I don't know if it's all that much over-carbed. I have a nutty Chrysler buddy who'd probably make it run well just the way you built it!
Thank you, mopardan65! I appreciate your comment, and thanks for watching.
COOL SPIN!!!!
Haha! Thank you kindly! If I ever enter this in a show I thought about having a disclaimer on the placard that warns the judges to be up-to-date on their tetanus shots before handling the car. Hahaha.
Absolutely amazing work! The rust looks so real, I think I need a tetanus shot after watching this. BRAVO!
Mr Fische, the thing is a work of auto art! Love this thing. Drop me an email when you get a chance, I have some questions. Thnx
Thank you, Dave. I appreciate that. Feel free to message me with whatever questions you have. Thanks!
Pretty daggone Cool!
Thank you!
speedfische - Right on brother! Right on!
yes ,Art indeed
thanx
Sweet. I'm subbing.
About how much was taken out of the body????
Hello Capt. Desmo, I took out about 1/2 inch - .53" to be exact, as I just measured it against a stock body.
Now the reason why I asked you is because your rod inspired me to build one identical to your model(s).... in the future...
Now that being said I need to figure out the actual chop on the top....
I’m horrible at converting 1/24-25 scale 1-1...
Oh and thank you!!!!
You are welcome. Good luck and have fun with your build!
not bad but not my style i would of used a few more kits, im building one here soon ive been collecting extra parts from my other kits like parts that you dont have to use
That's how I would have built it. LOL
Noice
cool
sweet rat!
Thank you!
Skunkworks custom built group….
Spit it out dude tell about the paint ....
The varying color shades are flat brown over flat green and sanded through. The rust is a product called Sophisticated Finishes Rust Antiquing. It is a 2-part process where you first brush on a somewhat thick gray paint with heavy amounts of metal in it, and then go over it with a solution that rusts all of the metal particles. The more solution you put on, the varying degrees of rust you'll get. It's neat stuff. Thanks for watching!
awesome dude thanks
Thank you for your kind words!
