I'm still amazed/puzzled at how they did the guitar/clavinet solo. The sound is so satisfying. As Chris Blackwell said in the documentary, Catch a Fire had so many overdubs to try and make it more "appropriate" for the American market.
Same here- I never could quite discern what was guitar and what was clavinet until hearing it deconstructed like this. I've always loved the sounds in Stir it Up. Wish that Wayne Perkins would have added his flare to more Wailers tunes.
@@HJsCorn909 The original version of Stir It Up was recorded in 1967 or 1968. It was the Rocksteady version which sounded very different from the 1972 Catch A Fire version.
I saw a bunch of places say it was a Moog but it could have been an ARP. I know Earl Lindo used a Moog on the Old Grey Whistle Test performance/mime but that’s about it so 🤷♂️

Amazing. It's the first time I hear Bob's voice in isolation. WOW an incredibile talent.
Is not a talent is the gift and blessing from God. ✌

What's the source on the exact gear used? The synth sounds more like an ARP Odyssey to me.

@@HJsCorn909 Thanks for your reply! Hm. I should probably set up the minimoog and the Odyssey and do a direct comparison myself…
wow
How does Aston get the punchy bass tone?
My guess would be amp settings and possibly EQ
Robbie Shakespeare plays bass line not Aston Barrett. Robbie has also played concrete jungle. Watching album credit
