When I was younger I ran a summer activity program for the local library I worked at, and I decided to make it comic book themed. One of the events we ended up doing was a movie day with all the kids who came to the library. We had a bunch of comic book movies from DC to Marvel to live action to animated, and we put them into a hat to decide which one they watched. And the second movie that was picked was Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. All of the kids were bummed because they'd been hoping for the Avengers or Thor or something, so I told them "We'll put this movie on first and if you're not enjoying it after 20 or 30 minutes, we can try a different movie." Those kids sat glued to their seats and watched the whole movie. Every time I checked in on them they were quiet as mice (even the more rowdy kids). One kid told me the Joker scared them and wanted me to stay in the room for a minute until Batman came back on screen. When it finished they told me they really liked it, and then we moved onto the Avengers like I promised. The next day, one of the kids came back and asked me if there were any other movies with 'the same Batman that was in the movie'. Even for a kid who had never seen a Batman movie before, Conroy's voice left a strong impression.

This guy has been Batman for as long as I remember, memories of being like 4 years old sitting three inches from the screen and watching Batman the animated series, to all the way into adulthood, thanks Kevin for the amazing childhood
Kevin Conroy was and will always be the greatest Batman. The truth is he didn’t voice Batman, HE WAS BATMAN! He made Batman the iconic character he is today. He was a hero and father figure to so many 90’s kids who didn’t have one. Whenever I would read Batman dialogue, I would always hear his voice because it fits perfectly. There will never be anyone who will do it better than Kevin. Thank you Kevin, for everything. Forever our Batman. ❤
Best Batman bar none. My sons grew up watching Batman: The Animated Series, Justice League, etc with me. My oldest son met Kevin Conroy at Comic Con about ten years ago. He was gracious, kind and gave my son as much time as he could. When my son told him Old Man Bruce from Batman Beyond was his favorite Bruce Wayne version of all, Conroy dropped his voice into that characterization with a smile. He gave my boy a story he still tells with joy and will for the rest of his life. I only wish I could have thanked him in person for that.
Tears quite literally fell from my eyes when I heard he had passed. And I remember whispering to myself, “The Bat is dead.. there will never be another.” Rest in peace, Kevin. Rest in peace, Batman.
The way he does batman’s voice reminds me of the methodology behind peter cullen’s optimus. The gentle strong. Kevin was able to show batman’s strength, sadness, and stoniness. He really saw the character. Where others saw a brutal vigilante/vigilant detective I feel as though kevin saw more. He saw the man behind the character and became that man.
Every year on the day that Conroy passed, I always watch the end of the episode “Nothing To Fear” where Bruce visits his parent’s grave and leaves a rose. But instead I envision us fans visiting Conroy’s grave leaving a rose then walking away with the shadow of Batman behind us.
dead or alive Kevin Conroy will always be the top batman voice actor. just the same, I hope James Gunn's DCU Batman will sound like Kevin Conroy as a bat voice disguise while whoever will play Bruce Wayne will use his true voice.
Agreed. I may not have known who Kevin Conroy was because I was such a naive little girl back then, but I recognized JDF easily as Tommy Oliver. And hearing about these amazing men passing away so suddenly really cut deep for me.
I vividly remember my youth of being a latchkey kid and going home after school and I had a routine of having a late lunch, and watching the Batman Animated Series while eating. I remember those moments more than anything else that happened in school. The show had a rich storytelling that still holds up through time.
Never got to meet the man, but, when I heard about his passing, I felt like my closest friend was gone. This man was one of the biggest role models for me as a kid. Growing up with him in BTAS and through to JLY was so much fun, and even watching his newer works like Justice League Action is so much fun just to see him back in the role. RIP to THE Dark Knight. We love you, Kevin. And we always will.
Kevin Conroy was a great man. I mean, I love the voice so much that it's ingrained into my memory. The beauty in the simplicity, the emotional aspects, the power in his voice, the collaborating with other voice actors, the love from fans and the crew, it's all just so astonishing. I'll never know another voice like Kevin's. Even in the Arkham games, he was flawless. I hope he knows that we still love him, even when he's no longer with us. By the way, Dana Delaney would go on to voice many more people in animation, including Lois Lane in Superman: The Animated Series.
What he said about Bruce being the mask is so brilliant considering he only had recently learned of Batman. He is a true legend. Everyone in this documentary are legends, they made my childhood and influence me in many ways. Seeing Tim get giddy about writing Joker Batman stuff made me happy 😂
Thank you Kevin for bringing life to this character and for being a treasured part of my childhood. Rest easy Knight, your crusade is now complete. RIP and thank you again...
Kevin was my Batman. Grew up with him. RIP "Dark Knight" Kevin Conroy. You will be missed. Batman will never be the same. The world is a lesser, because you are not in it. You are missed.
Very few people reach an impact on me like Mr Conroy, he gave me back my attention on the bat. Wherever he is now batman tales needs him. Gracias Kevin Conroy.
When I was 4, my dad tought me how to hook up 2 VCRs to copy tapes. I used that skill to record Saturday morning Batman TAS, Mask or the phantasm, and all the DCAU from my childhood. It was a so magical, Kevin is one of the people that shaped me into the man I am today.

I was never a comic book kid. I didn’t have television at home until I was in high school. But my mom was a teacher and when I was in the elementary school where she taught, the school got basic cable. Just like the end of the Grey Ghost:
"He was my hero" - "really?" - "and he still is...!"
Kevin forever and always will be Batman. Definitively. ❤RIP hero.
16:34 Kevin conroy RIP 1955-2022 🪦 🥀😭💔🙏❤️🔥💐🌹🕊 Batman 🥀🖤🦇🥀

My nephew has started getting into watching Batman animated films and shows it’s crazy how iconic and timeless his voice works with Batman
I miss Kevin Conroy so much. Love than man. What a legendary voice he had. He’s the perfect Batman.😢🙏❤️🦇
R.I.P. Mr. Kevin Conroy, you are the definitive voice of Batman. Your work as Batman's voice was a huge part of my childhood. Thanks, for the memories.
Rest in peace Batman. Thank you for all of our childhoods!
Rest In Peace Legend...
One Of The Best To Ever Be & Voiced The Dark Knight... RIP Kevin Conroy
Happy Pride Month, Kevin. We all miss you as our Batman.
I never had the opportunity to meet Kevin Conroy as a fan. That is something I'll always regret. However, I'll always be grateful to just have heard him as the voice of batman. Goodbye, Mr Conroy. You and your beautiful voice will be forever missed, but not forgotten.
I am glad he give us his voice to batman. I will always rewatch everything with him. Kevin Conroy, your work is a precious gift & will remain here with us to enjoy over and over again.
Kevin Conroy will always be my Batman. Whether it's voice over or live action (because he's done both 😁), no one will ever play Batman better, in my opinion. I'm just sad I never got to meet him at a convention. Thank you for all the years of entertainment, Mr. Conroy. Rest in Peace.
November of that year was sad for all of us 90s kids. First, we lost Kevin Conroy, and then Jason David Frank. Rest in peace to both of them!
I will never forget that. November 2022 was rough for losing both of them. RIP JDF and Kevin Conroy
Kevin Conroy’s Batman is the definitive Batman.
Kevin Conroy did portrayed Batman perfectly. I'm very glad we have him until now, rest in peace king!
Me too.
Conroy* but yes
He never had to try to be batman....... He was the batman..... RIP KEVIN 😢😢
Thanks for everything Kevin 😢

Batman mask of The phantasm a fantastic movie, IT deserved more attention and bigger box office numbers
And I remember whispering to myself,
“The Bat is dead.. there will never be another.”
Rest in peace, Kevin.
Rest in peace, Batman.
I can't even fathom an animated Batman without Kevin Conroy's voice going forward. It just won't be the same.
Can't wait #RIP #KevinConroy #TheBatman
The one true Batman. Rest in peace, Kevin.
dead or alive Kevin Conroy will always be the top batman voice actor. just the same, I hope James Gunn's DCU Batman will sound like Kevin Conroy as a bat voice disguise while whoever will play Bruce Wayne will use his true voice.
Kevin Conroy's and Jason David Frank's deaths were the worst and they were weeks apart. They were my childhood heroes during the 90s.
Me too
Yeah same than last year we lost Tina Turner, Paul Reubens, Mark Margolis, Arleen Sorkin, Bob Barker, Richard Moll, Matthew Perry, and James McCaffery
Same man same
@@abramsullivan7764they died in 2023, Kevin passed in November 2022
Agreed. I may not have known who Kevin Conroy was because I was such a naive little girl back then, but I recognized JDF easily as Tommy Oliver. And hearing about these amazing men passing away so suddenly really cut deep for me.
Kevin Conroy will always be remembered. I hope he's happy in Heaven. He will always be Batman for me.
I believe he’s happy 😃 in Heaven.
I vividly remember my youth of being a latchkey kid and going home after school and I had a routine of having a late lunch, and watching the Batman Animated Series while eating. I remember those moments more than anything else that happened in school. The show had a rich storytelling that still holds up through time.
He was vengeance, he was the knight, HE was Batman! And, forever he will be. 🥲❤️
"I didn't count on being happy" That scene hits hard.
There are so many talented voice actors but there is nobody that has left a mark on a character like Kevin Conroy. RIP to the voice of Batman
This came with the 4K release of Mask of Phantasm. Kevin Conroy is the only voice I hear for Batman. I cannot believe he is gone.
man this brought an ocean out of my eyes. he was vengeance. he was the night, he'll always be Batman. RIP Kevin Conroy, i wish i could've met you
Kevin was my Batman.
He was just the greatest guy. So great at what he did. Loved his work and his fans so much and went to so many conventions. He made everyone happy with his talent and great personality. Rest in peace, Sir. We miss you.
Kevin Conroy's passing really hit me. In the 90s he was the Voice of Our Batman just as Keaton was Our Bruce Wayne. What Kevin did for Batman can't be overstated. He will never be forgotten. Rest in Power, Kevin. Thank you!!
Man this still hurts. We can debate all day who we think is the best live action Batman but the truth is Kevin Conroy surpasses them all. He is, was & will forever be the ultimate Batman. Rest well Kevin. Your legacy as Batman is untouchable.
I grew up with this Batman, never even knew how lucky I was until recently. Just wish I could have gotten to me him. ❤
We are so grateful we got to meet kevin at a convention a few years ago. The energy was so joyful. He took being Batman seriously and elevated an already great character to something transcendent.
I met him twice and he was such a great guy he remebered my name. It was a hard loss.
I feel so lucky to have gotten to see Mask of the Phantasm in its original theatrical run.
And, I first saw Batman mask of the phantasm in the rerelease of the movie theaters back in 2018.
Growing up with the animated series i am so appreciative of Kevin and Mark for coming back for the Arkham games i love so much and plan on replaying them to hear those wonderful voice performances again RIP Kevin after seeing these comments and reactions you are truly missed
RIP to one of the greats. He was such a big part of my childhood and adulthood. Thank you so much Kevin.
1:13 one minute in I'm crying
Rest in Peace Kevin Conroy
The Definitive Voice of the Batman.
He was someone I always wanted to meet but I never did.😢
Thank you, Kevin. Also thank you to Andrea Romano. A true legend.
“I am vengeance.” “I am the night.” “I am Batman.” That verse will stay in my head forever. RIP Kevin Conroy.
IM WATCHING MASK OF THE PHANTASM TONIGHT. This made me cry so much.
Im so grateful to live in a time where I can appreciate Kevin Conroy and his amazing legacy. What a legend.
I was never a comic book kid. I didn’t have television at home until I was in high school. But my mom was a teacher and when I was in the elementary school where she taught, the school got basic cable. She was the type to stay until six at night, which was fine by me, because I got to watch Batman the Animated Series. He made a big impression on me. To the point where I saw the Dark Knight (I saw Batman Begins only afterwards), I remember thinking, “but… he doesn’t sound like Batman…”. It had been such a long time since elementary school, yet Batman had a voice ever since I was a kid… When I learned he had died, it hit me waaaay harder than I would have expected. A part of my childhood was gone forever. He really was the best Batman I have ever heard.
