Kevin Conroy Cameo: Kevin describes why Batman means so much to his fans

- On November 10, 2022 Kevin Conroy, the voice of Bruce Wayne in "Batman: The Animated Series" and dozens of subsequent television series, films, video games, and other media, passed away after a private battle with cancer.
Earlier this year, a close friend of mine purchased a Cameo from Kevin as a birthday gift for me. While he could have simply phoned it in by doing the "I am Vengeance" quote and left it at that, Kevin did something far more. He delivered a four-minute speech about how much playing Batman for about 30 years has meant to him, and why he believes it's meant so much for the fans he's gotten to interact with.
I was floored. I've purchased many Cameos for my friends over the past few years, some of them lovingly detailed and some maybe a little less so, but this was on another level entirely. I've rewatched it over and over, and hoped that someday, I might be able to thank him for it in person.
At first, I was going to keep this video private, shared only with other close friends. But with the tragic news today, I feel like it's worth putting out there in the world. Hoping that in this dark time, Kevin's words can touch someone else the way they did me.
Rest in Peace, Kevin Conroy. Now and forever, you will be the Night. - Кино
Thank you to everyone who has offered such kind words here. Being able to share Kevin's message of kindness, wisdom, and empathy with the wider community, and seeing people's reactions, has been a big part of my own grieving process over the loss of such a legend.
Kevin not only understood, but truly embodied, the core of what makes Bruce Wayne such a great character. A man acutely aware that the wound his trauma inflicted on his soul will never fully heal...but rather than let that trauma sink him into the same darkness that he fights, chose to pay it forward, and ensure that no one else has to go through the same things he did. Despite his pop culture image as "brooding loner," I think it's notable that no other superhero has as many sidekicks, proteges, and family members as Batman. He will not let any other child face that darkness alone, as he did at age eight.
No actor before, or since, has captured that essential humanity the way that Kevin did. And no matter how much time passes, that legacy will remain.
To everyone getting to hear these words from our Dark Knight...know that you are valid. You matter. Kevin was your Caped Crusader, the protector of the Gotham City of your heart, and he loved you.
In his honor, let's all remember to do the same.
You hit on exactly why Kevin Conroy will always be my Batman. Mr. Conroy tapped into Batman’s humanity, and that made all the difference.
I remember meeting him at Comic con several years ago and I'll never forget it I regret not having anything for him to sign at the time cause I would've brought him my copy of The Long Halloween Comic book and my Arkham city Game 🎮
But still he will never be forgotten
Thank you for sharing. May everyone share and treasure this forever. Like Kevin Conroy, you are vengeance. You are the night. YOU. ARE. BATMAN. This applies to each and every one of you who reads this too. Batman. Forever.
@@JoobJaibot God Bless U 🙌
Man, I'm so glad I got you this Cameo. And now it's preserved for the internet to enjoy. R.I.P, Kevin Conroy.
It meant a great deal to receive it then, and even more now. The greatest gift is the kind that can be paid forward.
Thank you for being a wonderful friend, always. :)
Thank you for getting this . Some say he is gone but not forgotten but I say as long as Batman lives on, Kevin will always be here. Always.
what an absolute awesome surprise it must have been to see just how much he wanted to sit and put in effort of not only wishing you happy birthday but just wanting to genuinely interact and make more than just a happy birthday goodbye video. what an awesome man
Indeed
Such a great friend.
Leave it to Kevin Conroy to turn a "Happy Birthday" message into a life lesson in humanity that everybody can learn from. R.I.P. to the G.O.A.T.
So true. Many celebrities do messages like this but it only lasts for 30 seconds and it seems like they phoned it in and didn't care.
Rip Kevin Conroy. Forever the voice of Batman.
He’s literally the only voice I hear reading any Batman comic. Always has been, always will be.
@@aKrazyGuyUKnosame R.i.p Kevin Conory
Even more incredible him doing this while he was likely battling the cancer.
I feel like you can hear it in his lines he gives in the beginning of the video, I think that deeper voice took some gusto that he just probably didn't quite have that day :( I hope he's resting easy now, still devastated rn
It's crazy how he didn't let anyone know he was battling Cancer, the same with Chadwick Boseman.
After watching this, I can move on from his death knowing that he was proud of himself and the fans who supported his work, would you all agree with me. May the force be with you Kevin Conroy
He still is Vengeance, He still is the Night, He will FOREVER be… BATMAN!!!
Yes I have a dream of Kevin Conroy he is dead but it's all right now.
@@abramsullivan7764max Payne reference?
He is vengeance.
He is the night.
He's our Batman.
Aside from the fact that he made our childhood awesome, this is too painful because he's one of the people in the voice acting industry I look up to because I want to become a voice actor myself someday. Until now, I just couldn't believe it.
Keep at it, hell maybe you'll be the next legendary Batman VA.
Me too!!! Its such a difficult industry to enter - its been a dream of mine i haven't yet achieved
The Fact that he had DCAU Sculptures there warms my Black Heart.
RIP Kevin Conroy (1955-2022).
His role in the Arkham games is what got me into Batman in the first place may he rest in peace
Kevin made the character feel human. Kevin is also a good person who understands humans, and loved the character.
I've truly shed a tear... God knows how many people youve impacted, Thank you for everything Kevin Conroy.
Same here! Really brought me to tears. RIP
Do you know anyone who met him in real life?
Kevin really understood this character and people love him.
Rest in peace man.
Faxxx dude was 2 good
He may be gone, but he'll always be the true voice of the dark Knight
forever
Man this hurts even more now that he’s gone its the perfect timing what’s making me feel how he talks about friendship and the people around u but also how life throws things at you and how u make of the situation like his death man he really was Batman just filled with wisdom I wish I could have gotten a cameo vid from him I should have done it RIP Kevin Conroy 🕊️
MAN
He was Batman, even if he was just a voice. He will always be Batman. R.I.P.
I am so sad. It's just not fair or right that a person like Kevin Conroy had to suffer from such a terrible disease and die with so much life still ahead of him. I'm glad that you have this clip from him to treasure for forever but I also wish we could say the same for Kevin. At least we will always have his brilliant work to enjoy but Kevin himself deserved so much more. RIP to a great person and legend.
It's sad that we all have a clock ticking. We just don't know how much time we have left on our clock.
Treat others well and cherish them because we don't know how much time we have left with them.
Its fate. Our fate is set on what happens to us.
The fact that his life was finite is what made it so precious. He made a difference in so many people's lives, I'm glad he made ours better.
@@sweetsucculentcontentnectar Sometimes it just feels like the good ones are taken way too soon, and the bad ones last the longest. :(
true there's a wisdom behind it, god gives the bad ones more chances and either they do more bad and get more punishments or do right and be forgiven @@WildWombats
"It's different with Batman" is why i like him the most.
So sad 😞 😥 😢 my favorite voice actor for Batman Rip 🙏.
That’s why he’s the GOAT!
THE GOOAAAT
I haven't felt this sad about the death of someone I never met since Stan Lee died... God bless and rest in peace, Kevin. In a way, the influence of his work as Batman played a significant part in shaping a lot of who I've become and strive to be since childhood in so many different ways. Your talents and your light on full display in this video will be sorely missed. Godspeed, Batman!
The only other celebrity death that hit me as much as Kevin Conroy, is Jason David Frank(aka: Tommy Oliver)
Rip to the greatest Batman ever we all love you and miss you Kevin you will always be Batman
Its hard to recognize whether you're just wrapped up in nostalgia or not, but I dont think its just because he's the batman I grew up with- Kevin was genuinely the best Batman.
He still is Vengeance, He still is the Night, He will FOREVER be… BATMAN!!!
Hits harder after Arkham Batman was openly mocked in his universe.
He wasn’t
@@adamswanson5178 Oh yes he was.
It was a such a letdown and then they have the nerve to act like what they did wasn’t just for cheap laugh
@@xKillamonjaro I know.
Brother Kevin signed up to the game as it was a quality story which it still is clearly you didn’t know Kevin Conroy like he knew Batman
I’ve been struggling accepting the fact that he’s gone. Hearing this really helped me being at peace. This is why Kevin was the real Batman. He brought so much compassion and intimidation to the character that we didn’t see in any of the other comics. He was a hero in real life to so many people. He set a legacy for the Dark Knight and he’ll forever be missed.
Rest In Peace Kevin Conroy. My Batman! 🦇💔
What a F**king beautiful message to send. What an amazing being he was. God bless this man for the dedication he provided during our youth. I love you so much Kevin Conroy! Thank you sir.
Thank you for sharing this. I needed to hear this today, for more than one reason. We'll never see another like Kevin Conroy. RIP
The world’s greatest Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy. Rip
Kevin left the world better than he found it…thank you, Kevin…RIP
The character of Batman didn't make him special. It was HIM who made Batman special! His heart, soul and spirit! R.I.P. Kevin Conroy, you were a superb actor and a wonderful human being!!!
He’s so awesome for doing these cameos. He must have been battling cancer for a while and still took time to show love to his fans. He knew how much he means to a lot of people.
Ive looked at Cameo before and the prices were a little much for what it was. But damn, Kevin Conroy really gave it his all. Him and Hammil really love their fans, more so than anyone else ive seen before. Rip Batman
Seeing this video just makes me realize we'll never hear Kevin Conroy as Batman again... R.I.P. to the Dark Knight, Mr. Kevin Conroy himself.
RIP Kevin
the 90's millennial childhood batman of so many
you will be missed
R. I. P Kevin Conroy thank you for giving me an amazing childhood as Batman
It literally feels like he's telling us not to let our grief for him get the best of us but to get up.
I've been genuinely depressed about this since it happened. It's like there's a small hole in my heart.
But hearing him say this makes me realize he wouldn't want this to break our spirits. It's just another curve ball we will handle.
Either way, I truly hope he's resting in peace ❤
Thank you, Kevin Conroy , and thank *you* for sharing this cameo with us!
Kevin understands the true character of Batman more than anyone else who’s played the role. Many understand parts but not the entirety like Kevin did. RIP sir and may we see you in heaven one day.
I hope so! If he was saved by the father, our God, we will! I pray that's true!!🙏🙏🙏
This is such a beautiful message. I loved Kevin Conroy's performance as Batman. Batman: The Animated series was my first exposure to the character and his acting is just fantastic. There are countless highlights throughout his career. But videos like this show so much of Kevin's own kindness and warmth. His passing was so sudden and has been hitting me hard. Watching cameos and interviews from him have been sad because you can feel so much love and kindness in his voice, but there is also some sense of comfort. He truly enjoyed his role as Batman, loved being able to communicate with fans and knew how much Batman meant to his fans. I truly hope that he knew how much fans loved him and the love from his loved ones and fans brought him comfort as he passed on. Rest in peace Kevin Conroy.
Well said 👍
I miss this guy already. Sleep well. We will miss you 😔
Even though he's go, he manages to be a hero and help us all. Thank you Kevin.
This man was a class act.
I'm going to miss him.
I just can’t believe it.. he’s actually gone. It’s hard to believe it
He got to voice Batman in a legendary video game franchise and he also played Bruce Wayne in live action before he died so he was definitely proud of what he did...Adam West and Kevin both being gone is so sad but Adam west us returning in the new flash movie.
He’s not gone, his spirit will be here forever…
The true one and only Batman, RIP Kevin!
REST IN PEACE, BATMAN. 😪
This man was my hero. I grew up watching Justice League: the Animated series, and while I loved all the characters, Batman is the one who stood out to me. And while various family and friends either like or don’t like the character, they can’t seem to grasp why I like Batman the way that I do. And while various versions of Batman have been good, while some were bad, THIS BATMAN… KEVIN’s BATMAN is the highlight of all the Batman’s for me. He raised the bar for where Batman is today…
No other celebrity death has ever hit me the way that this one has. I feel as though a GIANT part of my childhood has been broken… but hearing this cameo, helped ease that pain.
I understand that Batman is not everyone’s favorite hero, or character, but that does not mean we cannot try to emulate what Kevin has done for us these past 30 years… be a beacon of love and hope for our fellow man. No matter how awful this world gets, we should all aspire to be better… to be vengeance, to be the Night, to be Batman.
Kevin, my childhood hero, may you Rest In Peace. Your memory will always live in for me, and millions more. We love you. 🥺🫡🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇
As someone named Kevin, I feel like I needed to hear this
I really really miss this man. I haven’t cried over a celebrity death until him. He was an icon to a lot of people and not to mention a pioneer for the gay population (as well as everyone else really).
I think it’s really awesome that he knew the impact he had on that character. He will forever be my Batman and I will miss him very much.
I can't help but cry when watching this. He left us too soon but he was my childhood hero. Rest Well, Kevin Conroy, You will be fondly remembered.
Thank you kev for sacrificing so much of your time for our entertainment
Man, Kevin was like the Stan Lee of the Dcu. Wish he never had died.... R.I.P Kevin Conroy
Thank you for this, I am crying after watching this. I felt I just had to share this on facebook. It's haunting and a message to help all of us. Rip Kevin, also happy birthday to your friend Kevin.
Kevin is probably the most famous Batman of all time and yet he does so much to make his fans happy. A true hero, may he rest in peace
Kevin never realised that he sounded much more like batman/Bruce Wayne when he was using his real voice.
His voice was full of humanity, like Bruce's.
Miss you Kevin.
It’s so nice seeing him just gush about his figures and here how proud he is of work 😢 I miss him so much the perfect batman
Thats my Batman RIP.
As a man who just so happened to be named Kevin also...thank you for posting, Kevin. And thank you for the video Kevin ;)
He will always be remembered as a true Voice of the Batman

RIP KEVIN COMROY GREATEST BATMAN VOICE ACTOR YOU WILL TRUELY BE MISSED AND WONT BE REPLACED 🙏🏾🕊️
Rest in Peace Kevin Conroy. Nobody can fill your shoes. But now I’m about to critique the voice of my childhood hero.
Kevin doing the Batman voice for you proves my theory that he needed the direction of Bruce Timm, Andrea Romano, and the DCAU crew to get the best performance out of him. Otherwise, he phones it in or goes over the top in your case.
Honestly he sounded more like Bruce Wayne in BTAS when he was just straight up talking to you to motivate you. And when he talks about Batman being flawed, he sounds more naturally like Batman in JL.
Okay, critique is out of the way. I miss him. He’s gone way too soon, and at least there’s one final performance to look forward to with Crisis 3.
When you're dead, you're dead. But, you're not quite so dead if you contribute something. Which you did Kevin...Thank you
What an inspiring message. R.I.P
goddamn, this man was so much more important than we ever knew
RIP Kevin Conroy, the Batman we deserved, and the one we needed.
That's exactly why I liked Batman more than the rest.
Love how there a Batman behind Kevin hidden in the dark
Kevin Conroy was Batman. He had no powers but he cared enough to make the world a better place with just his voice.
You totally get it Kevin! Batman IS a human being, he's flawed and there's nothing super natural about him.
Which is why I always choose him over Superman. If only you were around to hear me say that.😢
Gotham City Will never be the same without you Rest in Peace Batman
RIP Kevin Conroy🙍🏻♂😞🪦⚰.
I got teary-eyed watching this. Such a beautiful and touching message. Can't believe that he's gone. I never got to meet Kevin Conroy, but he was just so special, so extraordinary. Having him be such a big part of the fandom, not just playing a role, it was something truly special, and the world will never be the same without him. R.I.P. to one of the greats.
Rest in piece Kevin. We’ll never forget you. You were my childhood 🥹
I can't believe that he is gone. He is Batman. He was an incredible person who gave people joy and life with his performances. RIP Kevin Conroy.
Ever since I learned about Kevin's backstory and the struggles he went through, my respect for him grew stronger than ever before. His legacy will never die. Thank you for making my childhood awesome
You’re lucky to have such an amazing friend. I teared up watching this, and Kevin Conroy going the extra mile and giving out life advice just tells you how much of a great human being he was. RIP Kevin Conroy. You are vengeance. You are the night. And you will always be Batman. Thank you for making my childhood awesome and all the good memories. 💔🦇
He was my childhood. And I will always re-visit his voice acting. Loved him.
favorite thing about Kevin was how he sounded like Batman but looked like he could’ve been a pretty decent film Joker
He looks exactly the Old Bruce Wayne
Replaying the Arkham games and it’s really great hearing Kevin again
Some of my earliest memories are coming home from school and watching BTAS, hearing Kevin's voice. It's really unbelievable how many people he reached, it's painful he's passed away now. He seemed like a great guy who didn't have an easy life if you look into his past. Imagine having a friend like Kevin? A great gift that would of been
Well rocksteady doesn’t seem to care about Batman as much as you Kevin, rest in peace you are always my hero and you were an amazing voice actor even if you are not with us at this very moment in time you were best, the best anyone could ever ask for

I'm going through a emotionally rough time right now and am feeling bitter and angry . I need to take Kevin's/ Batman's advice and not let this crush me but to turn it into something positive. I love you Kevin and will always miss you.
Even when he's talking he still sounds like Bruce Wayne and Batman sadly his Vengeance will never be forgotten
NO ONE can replace this man. NO ONE can fill the void left behind by this man.
I had the honor and privilege of having a 1on1 with him as well, and that was one of the top 5 best things to ever happen to me!

The fact that he puts this much effort into responding to these. You gotta love the guy.
